Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) printing is one of the world's top novel technologies in the food industry due to the production of food in different conditions and places (restaurants, homes, catering, schools, for dysphagia patients, and astronauts' food) and the production of personalized food. Nowadays, 3D printers are used in the main food industries, including meat, dairy, cereals, fruits, and vegetables, and have been able to produce successfully on a small scale. However, due to the expansion of this technology, it has challenges such as high-scale production, selection of printable food, formulation optimization, and food production according to the consumer's opinion. Food additives (gums, enzymes, proteins, starches, polyphenols, spices, probiotics, algae, edible insects, oils, salts, vitamins, flavors, and by-products) are one of the main components of the formulation that can be effective in food production according to the consumer's attitude. Food additives can have the highest impact on textural and sensory characteristics, which can be effective in improving consumer attitudes and reducing food neophobia. Most of the 3D-printed food cannot be printed without the presence of hydrocolloids, because the proper flow of the selected formulation is one of the key factors in improving the quality of the printed product. Functional additives such as probiotics can be useful for specific purposes and functional food production. Food personalization for specific diseases with 3D printing technology requires a change in the formulation, which is closely related to the selection of correct food additives. For example, the production of 3D-printed plant-based steaks is not possible without the presence of additives, or the production of food for dysphagia patients is possible in many cases by adding hydrocolloids. In general, additives can improve the textural, rheological, nutritional, and sensory characteristics of 3D printed foods; so, investigating the mechanism of the additives on all the characteristics of the printed product can provide a wide perspective for industrial production and future studies.

Abstract
This review is devoted to polypyrrole and its morphology, which governs the electroactivity of the material. The macroscopic properties of the material are strictly relevant to microscopic ordering observed at the local level. During the synthesis, various (nano)morphologies can be produced. The formation of the ordered structure is dictated by the ability of the local forces and effects to induce restraints that help shape the structure. This review covers the aspects of morphology and roughness and their impact on the final properties of the modified electrode activity in selected applications.

Abstract
Non-thermal plasma (NTP) application in medicine is a dynamically developing interdisciplinary field. Despite the fact that basics of the plasma phenomenon have been known since the 19th century, growing scientific attention has been paid in recent years to the use of plasma in medicine. Three most important plasma-based effects are pivotal for medical applications: (i) inactivation of a broad spectrum of microorganisms, (ii) stimulation of cell proliferation and angiogenesis with lower plasma treatment intensity, and (iii) inactivation of cells by initialization of cell death with higher plasma intensity. In this review, we explain the underlying chemical processes and reactive species involvement during NTP in human (or animal) tissues, as well as in bacteria inactivation, which leads to sterilization and indirectly supports wound healing. In addition, plasma-mediated modifications of medical surfaces, such as surgical instruments or implants, are described. This review focuses on the existing knowledge on NTP-based in vitro and in vivo studies and highlights potential opportunities for the development of novel therapeutic methods. A full understanding of the NTP mechanisms of action is urgently needed for the further development of modern plasma-based medicine.

Abstract
Biopolymers have gained significant attention as a class of polymer materials with a wide range of applications, especially in the medical and pharmaceutical field. Due to particular characteristics, such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, non-toxicity, and functionality, they have become promising candidates for various surgical applications, including as bioadhesives, sealants, wound dressings, sutures, drug carriers, coating materials, etc. Recent research shows that further modification of biopolymers by advanced techniques can improve their functionality i.e., antibacterial activity, cell viability, drug-releasing capability, good wet adhesion performance, and good mechanical properties. This mini review aims to provide a brief report on the type of biopolymers and recent developments regarding their use in various surgical applications.

Abstract
Environmental conditions in food and medical fields enable the bacteria to attach and grow on surfaces leading to resistant bacterial biofilm formation. Indeed, the first step in biofilm formation is the bacterial irreversible adhesion. Controlling and inhibiting this adhesion is a passive approach to fight against biofilm development. This strategy is an interesting path in the inhibition of biofilm formation since it targets the first step of biofilm development. Those pathogenic structures are responsible for several foodborne diseases and nosocomial infections. Therefore, to face this public health threat, researchers employed cold plasma technologies in coating development. In this review, the different factors influencing the bacterial adhesion to a substrate are outlined. The goal is to present the passive coating strategies aiming to prevent biofilm formation via cold plasma treatments, highlighting antiadhesive elaborated surfaces. General aspects of surface treatment, including physico-chemical modification and application of cold plasma technologies, were also presented. KEY POINTS: • Factors surrounding pathogenic bacteria influence biofilm development. • Controlling bacterial adhesion prevents biofilm formation. • Materials can be coated via cold plasma to inhibit bacterial adhesion.

Abstract
In 2019, a massive and deadly coronavirus pandemic known as the COVID-19 pandemic has swept through more than 180 nations, causing a massive strain on already overtaxed health systems around the globe. Global demand for medical equipment has put a strain on traditional manufacturing methods, resulting in the need for an efficient, low-cost, and speedy mode of production. Additive manufacturing, or 3D printing, has been used by manufacturers to bridge the gap and enhance the production of medical products. Some designs that had been previously or conventionally fabricated have been revised to meet the 3D printing requirement for combating COVID-19. A variety of designs were created, and they are now in use in hospitals by patients and healthcare professionals. However, because some gadgets must adhere to rigorous standards, it is possible that some items will not meet these requirements. As a result, in order to protect the health of the user, it is necessary to understand each gadget, its usage, and industry standards. An investigation of the usage of additive manufacturing during the COVID-19 epidemic is presented in this paper. It brings together the manufacturers of a variety of 3D-printed products, including face shields, face masks, valves, nasopharyngeal swabs, and others, to debate their application and regulatory concerns in the medical field. The primary shortcoming of technology, discussed in reference to the next pandemic, is addressed here. It also looks at some of the ways that additive manufacturing could be used in the future during an emergency.

Abstract
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), has spread through more than 180 countries, leading to diverse health systems overload around the world. Because of the high number of patients and the supply chain disruption, it generated a shortage of medical devices and personal protective equipment. In this context, initiatives from the additive manufacturing community emerged to fight the lack of devices. Diverse designs were produced and are currently being used in hospitals by patients and health workers. However, as some devices must follow strict standards, these products may not fulfill these standards. Therefore, to ensure the user's health, there is a need for understanding each device, their usage, and standards. This study reviews the use of additive manufacturing during COVID-19 pandemic. It gathers the source of several 3D printed devices such as face shields, face masks, valves, nasopharyngeal swabs, and others, discussing their use and regulatory issues. In this regard, the major drawbacks of the technology, addressed for the next pandemic scenario, are highlighted. Finally, some insights of the future of additive manufacturing during emergency are given and discussed.
