Abstract
Low-valent titanium(II) complexes turned out to be suitable reagents in the promotion of alkyne/alkoxyallene coupling reactions in an intramolecular fashion. The conditions developed herein led to a broad range of highly functionalized cyclic adducts with excellent regioselectivities toward the central carbon of the alkoxyallene moiety. Good yields (up to 76%) were obtained over 19 examples. One-pot late functionalization by electrophile trapping was also possible and led to excellent diastereoselectivities (up to 95/5 d.r.).

Abstract
Here, we report that alkyltitanium alkoxides generated in situ from Grignard reagents and Ti(OiPr)4 undergo a photocatalyst-free nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling with organic halides upon irradiation with blue light. Mechanistic studies suggested that the reaction proceeds through radical intermediates formed by photochemical decomposition of the alkyltitanium reagents. Various aryl, heteroaryl, and vinyl halides were efficiently alkylated under the reported conditions, including those containing ester and amide groups.

Abstract
Herein, we describe unprecedented access to all-carbon or heterocyclic seven-membered ring frameworks from 1,8-ene-ynes promoted by inexpensive low-valent titanium(ii) species, readily available from Ti(OiPr)4 and Grignard reagent. A broad range of cycloheptane, azepane or oxepane derivatives has been obtained (19 examples) with moderate to good yields and an excellent selectivity (up to 95/5 d.r.).

Abstract
Two novel 16-oxa-vitamin D3 analogues were synthesized using a tandem Ti(ii)-mediated enyne cyclization/Cu-catalyzed allylation, Ru-catalyzed ring-closing metathesis reaction, and a low-valent titanium (LVT)-mediated stereoselective radical reduction of 8α,14α-epoxide as the key steps for the synthesis of the 16-oxa-C,D ring unit. The vitamin D receptor-binding affinity of the synthesized analogues, 16-oxa-1α,25-(OH)2VD3 and 16-oxa-19-nor-1α,25-(OH)2VD3, was evaluated by fluorescence polarization vitamin D receptor competitor assay and time-resolved fluorescence energy transfer vitamin D receptor co-activator assay.

Abstract
A novel approach toward the [5-7]fused bicyclic core of thapsigargin, a subnanomolar inhibitor of the endo/sarcoplasmic calcium ATPase (SERCA), is presented. The synthetic route includes an original Ti(II)-mediated hydroxy-directed reductive coupling of an enantiomerically enriched propargylic alcohol and an intramolecular Rh(I)-catalyzed cyclocarbonylation reaction as key steps. Interestingly, through the first experiments of titanocene-mediated reductive cyclization of a 1,8-enyne, a seven-membered cycle was isolated as a unique product with a total diastereoselectivity.

Abstract
A convergent coupling reaction is described that enables the stereoselective construction of angularly substituted trans-fused decalins from acyclic precursors. The process builds on our alkoxide-directed titanium-mediated alkyne-alkyne coupling and employs a 1,7-enyne coupling partner. Overall, the reaction is thought to proceed through initial formation of a tetrasusbstituted metallacyclopentadiene, stereoselective intramolecular [4+2] cycloaddition, elimination, isomerization, and regio- and stereoselective protonation. Distinct from our early studies directed at the synthesis of trans-fused hydrindanes, the current annulative coupling reveals an important effect of TMSCl in controlling the final protonation-the event that establishes the stereochemistry of the ring fusion.

Abstract
Allenyl sulfinimines can be stereoselectively cyclized with hexamethylditin under palladium catalysis conditions followed by a selection of additives for an activated transmetalation. Reactivity and diastereoselectivity for the cyclization strongly depend on the characteristics of additives. A highly diastereoselective synthesis of five-membered rings is achieved from the reaction of the corresponding allenyl (S)-N-tert-butylsulfinimies through the following sequence. After the distannylation of the allenyl group with hexamethylditin catalyzed by the Pd complex, stereochemical routes are additive dependent: addition of SnCl4 affords a cis ring exclusively, whereas a trans ring is formed predominantly by the introduction of B-bromocatecholborane. Extension of the methodology to the synthesis of six-membered cis rings is achieved by using B-bromocatecholborane. Stereochemical relationships of products were unambiguously deduced by X-ray crystallography.

Abstract
Azatitanacyclopropanes (titanaziridines) are shown to be stereochemically labile under reaction conditions for reductive cross-coupling. This fundamental property has been employed to realize highly selective asymmetric coupling reactions with allylic alcohols that proceed by dynamic kinetic resolution.

Abstract
Diarylalkynes are chemo- and stereoselectively hydromagnesiated in high yields at room temperature with an iron species generated in situ from FeCl(2)and EtMgBr. Functional groups such as bromide, iodide, amine, phenoxide, and alkene are well tolerated. Under similar conditions, diynes are chemo-, regio-, and stereoselectively hydromagnesiated. The resulting alkenylmagnesium compounds are a platform for further functionalization as a one-pot reaction.

Abstract
Regioselective titanium alkoxide-mediated reductive cross-coupling reactions of allylic alcohols with vinylsilanes and imines have previously been demonstrated to proceed with allylic transposition by formal metallo-[3,3]-rearrangement [thought to proceed by a sequence of: 1) directed carbometalation, and 2) syn-elimination]. While many examples have been described that support this reaction path, a collection of substrates have recently been identified that react by way of an alternative pathway, delivering a concise convergent route to coupled products bearing a quaternary center.

Abstract
This perspective surveys the history of- and recent advances in- metallacycle-mediated coupling chemistry of substituted alkenes. While the reaction of preformed metal-π complexes with ethylene was reported nearly 30 years ago, the generalization of this mode of bimolecular C-C bond formation to the regio- and stereoselective union of complex substrates has only recently begun to emerge. This perspective discusses early observations in this area, the challenges associated with controlling such processes, the evolution of a general strategy to overcome these challenges, and a summary of highly regio- and stereoselective convergent coupling reactions that are currently available by metallacycle-mediated cross-coupling with substituted alkenes.

Abstract
Regio-, diastereo-, and enantioselective coupling reactions between imines and allylic alcohols have been developed. These coupling reactions deliver complex homoallylic amine products through a convergent C-C bond forming process that does not proceed through intermediate allylic organometallic reagents. In general, convergent coupling, by exposure of an allylic alkoxide to a preformed Ti-imine complex, occurs with allylic transposition in a predictable and stereocontrolled manner. While simple diastereoselection in these reactions is high, delivering anti-products with ≥20:1 selectivity, the organometallic transformation described is compatible with a diverse range of functionality and substrates (including aliphatic and aromatic imines, allylic silanes, trisubstituted alkenes, vinyl- and aryl halides, trifluoromethyl groups, thioethers, and aromatic heterocycles). Alkene geometry of the products is a complex function of the allylic alcohol structure and is consistent with a mechanistic proposal based on syn-carbometalation followed by syn-elimination by way of a boat-like transition state geometry. Single asymmetric coupling reactions provide a means to translate the stereochemical information of the allylic alcohol to the homoallylic amine or to control diastereoselection in the coupling reactions of achiral allylic alcohols with chiral imines. Double asymmetric coupling reactions are also described that afford a unique means to control stereoselection in these complex convergent coupling processes. Finally, empirical models are proposed that are consistent with the observed stereochemical course of these coupling reactions en route to chiral homoallylic amines possessing di- or trisubstituted alkenes and anti- or syn- relative stereochemistry at the allylic and homoallylic positions.
