Abstract
Water can greatly facilitate the iodine atom transfer cyclisation of 2-allyloxy(or prop-2-yn-1-yloxy)-3-iodo tetrahydropyrans and tetrahydrofurans initiated by phenanthroline-diphosphine Cu(I) complexes under 455 nm light irradiation. Good yields were obtained in a mixture of acetonitrile and water (1 : 4, v/v) or in pure water, whereas no reaction took place in acetonitrile under the otherwise same conditions. The copper complexes are virtually heterogeneous in the water-dominant reaction media, which is believed to be a main reason for the beneficial effect of water.

Abstract
Ascorbic acid is the most well-known vitamin found in different types of food. It has
tremendous medical applications in several different fields such as in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics,
and in organic synthesis. Ascorbic acid can be used as a substrate or mediator in organic synthesis.
In this review, we report ascorbic acid-catalyzed reactions in organic synthesis. Several examples
are included in this review to demonstrate that ascorbic acid is a versatile catalyst for the synthesis
of diverse organic compounds. Reactions catalyzed by ascorbic acid are performed in organic or
aqueous media. The ready availability and easy handling features of ascorbic acid make these procedures
highly fascinating.

Abstract
The aim of this review is to highlight the rich chemistry of α-haloamides originally mainly used to discover new C-N, C-O and C-S bond forming reactions, and later widely employed in C-C cross-coupling reactions with C(sp3), C(sp2) and C(sp) coupling partners. Radical-mediated transformations of α-haloamides bearing a suitable located unsaturated bond has proven to be a straightforward alternative to access diverse cyclic compounds by means of either radical initiators, transition metal redox catalysis or visible light photoredox catalysis. On the other hand, cycloadditions with α-halohydroxamate-based azaoxyallyl cations have garnered significant attention. Moreover, in view of the important role in life and materials science of difluoroalkylated compounds, a wide range of catalysts has been developed for the efficient incorporation of difluoroacetamido moieties into activated as well as unactivated substrates.

Abstract
A cyanoborohydride-promoted radical cyclization methodology has been developed to access α-chlorolactams in a simple and efficient way using NaBH3 CN and trichloroacetamides easily available from allylic and homoallylic secondary amines. This methodology allowed the synthesis of a library of α-chlorolactams (mono- and bicyclic), which were tested for herbicidal activity, trans-3-chloro-4-methyl-1-(3-trifluoromethyl)phenyl-2-pyrrolidinone being the most active.
