Abstract
Liquid-Liquid Extraction (LLE) is a venerable and widely used method for the separation of a targeted solute between two immiscible liquids. In recent years, this method has gained popularity in the supramolecular chemistry community due to the development of various types of synthetic receptors that effectively and selectively bind specific guests in an aqueous medium through different supramolecular interactions. This has eventually led to the development of state-of-the-art extraction technologies for the removal and purification of anions, cations, ion pairs, and small molecules from one liquid phase to another liquid phase, which is an industrially viable method. The focus of this perspective is to furnish a vivid picture of the current understanding of supramolecular interaction-based LLE chemistry. This will not only help to improve separation technology in the chemical, mining, nuclear waste treatment, and medicinal chemistry sectors but is also useful to address the purity issue of the extractable species, which is otherwise difficult. Thus, up-to-date knowledge on this subject will eventually provide opportunities to develop large-scale waste remediation processes and metallurgy applications that can address important real-life problems.

Abstract
This study comprises the design and development of calix[4] arene-amido-based ionophores by varying structural stringency and steric hindrance at the lower rim to probe the anion sensing properties. The ionophores are prepared, purified, and characterized using various analytical techniques. The molecular structure of the most active ionophore I is established by single-crystal X-ray characterisation. Out of various anions investigated, iodide and cyanide show the highest sensitivity towards the ionophores investigated. Both anions are sensitive enough to give a visibly distinct color change. The binding properties of the ionophores are established with 1H & 127I NMR, fluorescence, and UV-vis spectroscopy, revealing that three ionophores strongly interact with CN- and I-. The binding constants are calculated via Benesi-Hildebrand plots using absorption data. The time-dependent 1H NMR revealed strong hydrogen bonding between the OH and NH groups of the ionophore and cyanide anion. The 127I NMR shows the highest 27.6 ppm shift after 6 h for ionophore I. The crystal structure revealed hydrogen bonding of N-H protons of the amide pendulum and phenolic oxygen of the calix rim. The Job's plot depicted the possibility of a 1 : 1 complex of ionophores with both anions.

Abstract
In this article, organic-inorganic hybrid materials with different functional groups were used to form organic-inorganic hybrid dense membranes for selective separation of mono/divalent ions by blending these materials and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) in dimethylacetamide with HCl as the catalyst. The membranes prepared by 3-(ureido benzene) propyltriethoxysilane (H1), 3-(ureido-4-methoxyphenyl) propyltriethoxysilane (H2), 3-(ureido-3-chloro-4-methoxyphenyl) propyltriethoxysilane (H3), 3-(ureidoindazolyl) propyltrieth-oxysilane (H4), or 3-(ureidopentanol) propyltriethoxysilane (H5) were labeled as HM1-HM5, respectively. The transport properties of different chlorides were tested. The effects of different anions on sodium cation transport were also tested. The results showed that HM1-HM4 could transport monovalent Li+, Na+, and K+ except Ca2+ and Mg2+, and the permeability of Li+, Na+, and K+ through the hybrid membranes followed the order of PNa+ > PK+ > PLi+. Moreover, membranes with different H2 content were also prepared due to HM2 having the best ion transport performance. The ion transport performance increased accordingly with the mass ratio of H2 to PVDF, and the permeability of Na+ was twice that of Li+ and K+ when the mass ratio was 15/10. Under this condition, it was also proved that NH4+ could not transport through the hybrid membrane with various selectivity for different anions as Cl- > NO3- > HCO3- > SO42-.

JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 2017; 197:631-641. Abstract
In this work, microgels based on tris(2-aminoethyl) amine (TAEA) and glycerol diglycidyl ether (GDE) via simple microemulsion polymerization was prepared as p(TAEA-co-GDE) microgels were used as adsorbent for removal of dichromate (Cr (VI)) and arsenate (As (V)) ions from different aqueous environments. The p(TAEA-co-GDE) microgels were demonstrated very efficient adsorption capacity for Cr (VI), and As (V) that are 164.98 mg/g, and 123.64 mg/g from distilled (DI) water, respectively. The effect of the medium pH on the adsorption capacity of p(TAEA-co-GDE) microgels for Cr (VI) and As (V) ions were investigated. The maximum adsorption capacity was obtained at pH 4.0 for both ions with maximum adsorbed amounts of 160.62, and 98.72 mg/g, respectively. In addition, the microgels were also shown moderate adsorption capacity for Cr (VI) and As (V) from other water sources; tap water with 115.18 mg/g and 82.86 mg/g, sea water with 64.24 mg/g and 46.88 mg/g and creek water with 73.52 mg/g and 59.33 mg/g, respectively. Moreover, the increase in adsorbent dose from 0.025 to 0.125 g enhanced % adsorption of Cr (VI) from 54.13 to 98.03, and As (V) from % 26.72-98.70, respectively. For the adsorption process Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms were applied and found that Langmuir adsorption isotherm with R2 value of 0.99 for both the metal ions are suitable. Moreover, the experimental adsorption capacities of Cr (VI) and As (V) were found very close to the theoretical values calculated from Langmuir adsorption isotherm. More importantly, the microgels were made magnetic responsive to recover them easily from adsorption medium for reuse studies by applying external magnetic field with little decrease in adsorption capacity. Additionally, reusability of p(TAEA-co-GDE) microgels was also evaluated for adsorption of Cr (VI) and As (V) from DI water.
