Abstract
The synthesis, characterization, and in vitro activity of a cyclohexane-1 R,2 R-diamine-based Pt(IV) derivative containing the histone deacetylase inhibitor rac-2-(2-propynyl)octanoato, namely, ( OC-6-44)-acetatodichlorido(cyclohexane-1 R,2 R-diamine)( rac-2-(2-propynyl)octanoato)platinum(IV), are reported together with those of its isomers containing enantiomerically enriched axial ligands. These Pt(IV) complexes showed comparable activity, of 2 orders of magnitude higher than reference drug oxaliplatin on three human (HCT 116, SW480, and HT-29) and one mouse (CT26) colon cancer cell lines. In vivo experiments were carried out on immunocompetent BALB/c mice bearing the same syngeneic tumor. The complex ( OC-6-44)-acetatodichlorido(cyclohexane-1 R,2 R-diamine)( rac-2-(2-propynyl)octanoato)platinum(IV) showed higher tumor mass Pt accumulation than oxaliplatin, due to its higher lipophilicity, with negligible nephro- and hepatotoxicities when administered intravenously. A remarkable tumor mass invasion by cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes, following the Pt(IV) treatment, indicated a strong induction of immunogenic cell death.

Abstract
Herein, we report the preparation of chiral, one-dimensional coordination polymers based on trinuclear paddlewheel helices [M₃(dpa)₄]2+ (M = Co(II) and Ni(II); dpa = the anion of 2,2'-dipyridylamine). Enantiomeric resolution of a racemic mixture of [M₃(dpa)₄]2+ complexes was achieved by chiral recognition of the respective enantiomer by [Δ-As₂(tartrate)₂]2- or [Λ-As₂(tartrate)₂]2- in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), affording crystalline coordination polymers formed from [(Δ-Co₃(dpa)₄)(Λ-As₂(tartrate)₂)]·3DMF (Δ-1), [(Λ-Co₃(dpa)₄)(Δ-As₂(tartrate)₂)]·3DMF (Λ-1), [(Δ-Ni₃(dpa)₄)(Λ-As₂(tartrate)₂)]·(4 - n)DMF∙nEt₂O (Δ-2) or [(Λ-Ni₃(dpa)₄)(Δ-As₂(tartrate)₂)]·(4 - n)DMF∙nEt₂O (Λ-2) repeating units. UV-visible circular dichroism spectra of the complexes in DMF solutions demonstrate the efficient isolation of optically active species. The helicoidal [M₃(dpa)₄]2+ units that were obtained display high stability towards racemization as shown by the absence of an evolution of the dichroic signals after several days at room temperature and only a small decrease of the signal after 3 h at 80 °C.

Abstract
Electrochemical reduction of an azoniahelicene affords a dimer, accompanied by a strong change in the electronic circular dichroism. The fast dimerisation event leads to a >500 mV shift of the oxidation potential, affording a large area of bistability, where the chiroptical signal only depends on the redox history.

Abstract
A simple procedure based on anion exchange was employed for the enantiomeric resolution of the extended metal atom chain (EMAC) [Co3(dpa)4(MeCN)2]2+. Use of the chiral salt (NBu4)2[As2(tartrate)2], (Λ-1 or Δ-1), resulted in the selective crystallization of the EMAC enantiomers as [Δ-Co3(dpa)4(MeCN)2](NBu4)2[Λ-As2(tartarte)2]2, (Δ-2) and [Λ-Co3(dpa)4(MeCN)2](NBu4)2[Δ-As2(tartrate)2]2 (Λ-2), respectively, in the P4212 space group, whereas a racemic mixture of 1 yielded [Co3(dpa)4(MeCN)2][As2(tartrate)2]·2MeCN (rac-3), which crystallized in the C2/c space group. The local electronic and magnetic structure of the EMAC enantiomers was studied, exploiting a variety of dichroisms in single crystals. A strong linear dichroism at the Co K-edge was observed in the orthoaxial configuration, whereas it vanished in the axial orientation, thus spectroscopically confirming the D4 crystal symmetry. Compounds Δ-2 and Λ-2 are shown to be enantiopure materials as evidenced by mirror-image natural circular dichroism spectra in the UV/vis in solution and in the X-ray range at the Co K-edge in single crystals. The surprising absence of detectable X-ray magnetic circular dichroism or X-ray magnetochiral dichroism signals at the Co K-edge, even at low temperature (3 K) and a high magnetic field (17 T), is ascribed to a strongly delocalized spin density on the tricobalt core.

Abstract
The thermal reaction of a cyclopentadienone with 6,6'-dimethoxy-5,5'-binaphthoquinone gives, in a single step, a molecular ribbon consisting of two twisted aromatic systems fused to a heteropentahelicene. Such molecules constitute a new class of chiral polycyclic aromatic compounds, the "hairpin furans".

Abstract
Cyclophanes have been firmly entrenched as a distinct class of compounds for well over half a century. The two main factors that have kept this field of chemistry going so strongly for such a long time are tremendous structural diversity and the interesting behaviour that is often observed. Although a very large number cyclophanes has been reported, only a very small proportion of them contain polycyclic aromatic systems that can be thought of as "large", i.e. with ≥4 rings. This Review puts the spotlight on such cyclophanes, illuminating both the chemistry that was used to synthesize them and what was learned from studying them. Context for the main body is provided by the careful consideration of the anatomy of a cyclophane and the classification of general synthetic approaches. The subsequent sections cover eleven different PAHs and are organized primarily according to increasing size of the aromatic system, starting with pyrene (C16, the only large polycyclic aromatic system to have been incorporated into numerous cyclophanes) and ending with hexabenzo[bc,ef,hi,kl,no,qr]coronene (C42).
