Abstract
The nanoporous compound SBA-15 was functionalized using (3-aminopropyl)trimethoxysilane (APTES). Then the obtained product was modified with ellagic acid (ELA), a bioactive polyphenolic compound. The structure of the prepared nanoporous composition SBA-15@ELA was extensively characterized and confirmed by various techniques, such as Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms (BET). The novel, recoverable, heterogenous SBA-15@ELA nanoporous compound was used to investigate its catalytic effect in the synthesis of 4-oxo-quinazoline derivatives (19 examples) with high yields (78-96%), as an important class of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds. The use of an inexpensive mesoporous catalyst with a high surface area, along with easy recovery by simple filtration are among the advantages of this catalysis research work. The catalyst has been used in at least 6 consecutive runs without a significant loss of its activity.

Abstract
In the present study, the modification of a mesoporous organosilica nanocomposite SBA‐15 (Santa Barbara Amorphous 15) was carried out in two steps, first through the surface functionalization of SBA‐Pr‐NH2 with 2‐chloroquinoline‐3‐carbaldehyde to form SBA‐Pr‐NCQ, and then through a post‐modification process with palladium ions. The target nanocompound structure of SBA‐Pr‐NCQ‐Pd was characterized by different techniques (thermogravimetric analysis, X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, Energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy). The catalytic performance of the porous inorganic–organic hybrid nanocomposite (SBA‐Pr‐NCQ‐Pd) in one of the most important carbon–carbon bond‐forming processes, the Mizoroki–Heck coupling reaction of aryl halides and methacrylate in water/ethanol media, was examined. Compared to previous reports, this protocol afforded some advantages, such as high yields of products, short reaction times, catalyst stability without leaching, simple methodology, easy workup, and greener conditions. Also, the nanocatalyst can be easily separated from the reaction mixture and reused several times without a significant decrease in activity and promises economic as well as environmental benefits.

Abstract
Nanoreactors are material structures with engineered internal cavities which create exclusive confined nanoscale surroundings for chemical reactions. The cavities of mesoporous silica SBA-15 can be used as nanoreactors for incorporating catalytic species such as metal nanoparticles, complexes etc. Since SBA-15 silica has a neutral framework, organic functional groups and heteroatoms have been embedded by direct or post-synthesis approaches in order to modify their functionality. Palladium is the most used transition metal for C-C bond formations. Because of the great importance of C-C coupling reactions, this review article aims at providing a deep insight into the state of art in the field of the synthesis and the application of mesoporous SBA-15 silica-supported Pd catalysts in C-C coupling transformations. In most cases, synthesis and modification of the catalyst, time and yield of reactions, recyclability and leaching of the Pd species from the SBA-15 support are discussed to reveal the role of SBA-15 in C-C coupling reactions.

Abstract
Modification of mesoporous silica was carried out by reaction of SBA‐15 with di‐urea‐based ligand. Next, with the help of this ligand, palladium ions were anchored within the multidentate SBA‐15/di‐urea pore channels with high dispersion. The SBA‐15/di‐urea/Pd catalyst was characterized using various techniques. Theoretical calculations indicated that each palladium ion was strongly interacted with one nitrogen and two oxygen atoms from the multidentate di‐urea ligand located in SBA‐15 channels and these interactions remained during the catalytic cycle. These results are in good agreement with those of hot filtration test: the palladium ions have very high stability against leaching from the SBA‐15/di‐urea support. The catalytic performance of SBA‐15/di‐urea/Pd nanostructure was examined for the Suzuki coupling reaction of phenylboronic acid and electronically diverse aryl halides under mild conditions with a minimal amount of Pd (0.26 mol%). Compared to previous reports, this protocol afforded some advantages such as short reaction times, high yields of products, catalyst stability without leaching, easy catalyst recovery and preservation of catalytic activity for at least six successive runs.

Abstract
Nanosized (NS) cobalt (II) bis(5-phenyl-azo-8-hydroxyquinolate) (NS Co(II)-(5PA-8HQ)2) thin films have been synthesized using static step-by-step soft surface reaction (SS-b-SSR) technique. Structural and optical characterizations of these thin films have been carried out using thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The HR-TEM results revealed that the assembled Co(II)-complex exhibited a uniformly NS structure particles in the form of nanorods with width and length up to 16.90nm and 506.38nm, respectively. The linear and nonlinear optical properties have been investigated. The identified energy gap of the designed thin film materials was found 4.01eV. The refractive index of deposited Co(II)-complex thin film was identified by thickness-dependence and found as 1.9 at wavelength 1100nm. In addition, the refractive index was varied by about 0.15 due to an increase in the thickness by 19nm.
