Abstract
DNA hybrid catalysts are constructed by embedding active metal species into the chiral scaffolds of DNA, which have been successfully applied to some important aqueous-phase enantioselective transformations. Owing to simple components and inherent chirality, nucleotide hybrid catalysts are emerging in response to soving the unclear locations of catalytic centers and the plausible catalytic mechanisms in DNA-based asymmetric catalysis. However, the tertiary structure of nucleotides lacks tunability, severely impeding further design of nucleotide hybrid catalysts for potential applications. To this end, a design strategy for tunable nucleotide hybrid catalysts is put forward by introducing metal-mediated base pairs. Herein, we found that the formation of uracil‑mercury(II)-uracil (U-Hg2+-U) base pairs could enhance the enantioselectivity in uracil-containing nucleotide-based asymmetric reactions. Compared with uracil triphosphate (UTP) complexing with Cu2+ ions (UTP∙Cu2+), the presence of Hg2+ ions gave rise to an increased enantiomeric excess (ee) of 38 % in Diels-Alder reactions and 22 % ee in Michael reactions. The Hg2+-tuning behaviors of UTP hybrid catalyst have been demonstrated to largely depend on nucleotides, Hg2+ concentrations, metal cofactors, additives and reaction types. Based on ultraviolet-visible, circular dichroism and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopic techniques, the chiral enhancement of Hg2+-containing UTP hybrid catalyst is proved to largely depend on the formation of U-Hg2+-U base pairs and the plausible cross-linked structure of UTP-Hg2+-UTP/Cu2+ assembly. This work provides a tunable strategy based on the concept of metal-mediated base pairs, allowing further design of potent oligonucleotide-based catalysts for other enantioselective reactions.

Abstract
Infections caused by bacteria are a significant issue on a global scale, and imperative action is required to discover novel or improved therapeutic agents. Flavonoids are a class of plant-derived compounds that have a variety of potentially useful bioactivities. These activities include immediate antimicrobial properties, synergistic effect with antimicrobials, ferocious repression of pathogenicity, anti-urease activity etc. This review summarizes current studies concerning anti-urease actions of flavonoids as well as structural-activity correlation investigations of the flavonoid core structure. It is possible that if researchers investigate the many structural changes that may be made in flavonoid rings, they'll be able to build up novel compounds that have powerful and effective anti-urease properties.

Abstract
An enantioselective 1,4-conjugate addition of nitromethane to β-silyl α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds catalyzed by bifunctional squaramide catalysts has been developed. This methodology offers both enantiomers of β-silyl nitroalkanes in good to excellent yields (up to 92%) and enantioselectivities (up to 97.5% ee) under solvent-free conditions at room temperature. Control experiments reveal that the presence of a β-silyl group in the enones is crucial for high reactivity under the optimized reaction conditions.

Non-Covalent Interactions in Enantioselective Organocatalysis: Theoretical and Mechanistic Studies of Reactions Mediated by Dual H-Bond Donors, Bifunctional Squaramides, Thioureas and Related Catalysts. Abstract
Chiral bifunctional dual H-bond donor catalysts have become one of the pillars of organocatalysis. They include squaramide, thiosquaramide, thiourea, urea, and even selenourea-based catalysts combined with chiral amines, cinchona alkaloids, sulfides, phosphines and more. They can promote several types of reactions affording products in very high yields and excellent stereoselectivities in many cases: conjugate additions, cycloadditions, the aldol and Henry reactions, the Morita–Baylis–Hilman reaction, even cascade reactions, among others. The desire to understand mechanisms and the quest for the origins of stereoselectivity, in attempts to find guidelines for developing more efficient catalysts for new transformations, has promoted many mechanistic and theoretical studies. In this review, we survey the literature published in this area since 2015.

Abstract
The aldol reaction which is the most important one among the C-C bond forming reactions,
is widely used by synthetic organic chemists to obtain β-hydroxycarbonyl compounds which are important
starting components for biologically active compounds in optically pure form. In this research,
five Pro-Phe derivatives were synthesized by simple amidation reactions and characterized by their
spectral data. Their catalytic activities in asymmetric aldol reaction were investigated. The catalytic
activity studies were performed with aliphatic ketones and various aromatic aldehydes. Especially, (S)-
methyl 3-mercapto-2-((S)-3-phenyl-2-((S)-pyrrolidine-2-carboxamido)propanamido)propanoate showed
good catalytic activities in water at 0oC in the presence of p-nitrobenzoic acid cocatalyst. The enantioselectivities
were up to 90.4%, the diastereomeric ratios were up to 97/3 and yields were 99%. The
results showed that these organocatalysts were promising organocatalysts for aldol reaction. Besides,
this catalyst showed its best catalytic activities in water which is also an important contribution to
green chemistry requirements.

Abstract
Enantio- and diastereoselective conjugate addition reactions between nitroethane or nitropropane and enone diesters are reported. A bifunctional triaryliminophosphorane catalyzed the addition reaction with consistently excellent stereoselectivities and yields across a wide range of substrates. By the use of the gem-diester functional handle present in the adducts, local desymmetrization via diastereotopic group discrimination was demonstrated, and a polyfunctionalized lactam with three contiguous stereocenters was synthesized.

Abstract
A number of upper rim-functionalized calix[4]thiourea cyclohexanediamine derivatives have been designed, synthesized and used as catalysts for enantioselective Michael addition reactions between nitroolefins and acetylacetone. The optimal catalyst 2 with a mono-thiourea group exhibited good performance in the presence of water/toluene (v/v = 1:2). Under the optimal reaction conditions, high yields of up to 99% and moderate to good enantioselectivities up to 94% ee were achieved. Detailed experiments clearly showed that the upper rim-functionalized hydrophobic calixarene scaffold played an important role in cooperation with the catalytic center to the good reactivities and enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Michael reactions involving nitroalkanes and enones are important carbon-carbon bond formation reactions. These reactions are base-catalyzed, and during the past 15 years, the asymmetric version using bifunctional amino-thiourea organocatalyst has been developed. In this work, the reaction of nitromethane and 4-phenyl-3-buten-2-one, catalyzed by the methoxide ion and piperidine as bases, was investigated by theoretical calculations. We obtained the theoretical free energy profile and did a microkinetic analysis of the catalytic cycle. The direct reaction of the CH2NO2- ion and the enone is very favorable, with a free energy of activation of 21.1 kcal mol-1 in methanol solvent. However, the generated MS2 product works like an inhibitor of the catalysis, and the effective barrier in the catalytic cycle becomes 25.5 kcal mol-1, leading to slow kinetics at room temperature. In the case of the reaction in apolar solvent (toluene), we found a pathway involving isomerization from the CH3NO2 reactant to the CH2NO2H species, and the latter makes a nucleophilic attack on the enone. Piperidine works like a bifunctional catalyst. In this case, the barrier is very high (32.5 kcal mol-1), indicating the importance of the polar environment to accelerate the reaction in the catalytic cycle.
