Abstract
Superelectrophilic activation of α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds and their isoelectronic analogs, proceeding normally under superacidic conditions, have led to a great variety of beneficial synthetic transformations. However, the essence of such activation is not yet fully recognized, while a number of alternative views on the subject have been discussed at length in the literature. Here, taking the example of virtual reactions of cinnamonitrile and benzalacetone with benzene, their feasible mechanistic variants, including multiple protonation (coordination to AlCl3) of the reactants, were analyzed based on density functional theory (DFT). It is revealed that the most plausible reaction pathways involve the initial N- or O-protonation (coordination to AlCl3) of the activated compounds followed by subsequent protonation on the α-C-atom. Dicationic superelectrophiles thus formed ensure practically barrier-free reactions with benzene in addition to a more favorable energetic profile of their generating, which is in marked contrast to other potential reaction pathways.

Abstract
Reactions of 3-arylpropynenitriles (ArC≡CCN) with electron-rich arenes (Ar′H, benzene and its polymethylated derivatives) under the action of aluminum bromide (AlBr3, 6 equiv) at room temperature for 0.5–2 h result in the stereoselective formation of 3,3-diarylpropenenitriles (Ar(Ar′)C=CHCN) in yields of 20–64%, as products of mainly anti-hydroarylation of the acetylene bond. The obtained 3,3-diarylpropenenitriles in triflic acid CF3SO3H (TfOH) at room temperature for 1 h are cyclized into 3-arylindenones in yields of 55–70%.

Abstract
Although radical treatment of Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease is not possible yet, it is aimed to slow the course of the disease and increase the life quality of individuals with the drugs used in the clinic at the present time. Successful results have been achieved in the use of cholinesterase inhibitors and monoamine oxidase inhibitors together in these neurodegenerative diseases. In this study, indane ring which are in the structure of anticholinesterase effective molecules and 2-hydrazinothiazole structure whose inhibitory activities reported on monoamine oxidase-B (MAO-B) were combined; 4-(substituted phenyl)-2-[2-(3-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-inden-1-ylidene) hydrazinyl]thiazole derivatives (3a-3i) were synthesized as dual inhibitors. The structures of the compounds were verified by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and HRMS spectroscopy. When enzyme inhibition activities were evaluated, it was determined that the compounds 3a (42.33%) and 3d (42.39%) on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme; compounds 3g (75.42%) and 3h (60.33%) showed inhibition on MAO-B enzyme at most, at 10-3 M concentration.
