Single-flask preparation of polyazatriaryl ligands by sequential borylation/Suzuki–Miyaura coupling

Layered Double Hydroxides as Bifunctional Catalysts for the Aryl Borylation under Ligand-Free Conditions

Organic derivatives of boron, such as boronic esters and acids, are important precursors for a wide range of environmental, energy, and health applications. Several catalytic methods for their synthesis have been reported, even though with the use of toxic and structurally complex ligands. Herein, we demonstrate preliminary studies envisaging the synthesis of boronic esters from an inexpensive catalytic system based on Cu/Al layered double hydroxides (LDH) in the presence of Na2PdCl4. The Cu/ Al LDHs were prepared according to coprecipitation method and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) (with Rietveld refinement) to evaluate the contamination with malachite and other phases. Preliminary catalytic results suggest that pure Cu/Al LDH has potential for the borylation of aryl iodides/ bromides in the absence of base. Indeed, a synergic effect between copper and palladium is possibly related to the catalytic efficiency.

Pd-catalyzed one-pot sequential unsymmetrical cross-coupling reactions of aryl/heteroaryl 1,2-dihalides

The present methodology allows the conversion of easily available aryl/heteroaryl 1,2-dihalides into synthetically useful unsymmetrically substituted arenes/heteroarenes in good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions.

Catalytic borylation of SCF₃-functionalized arenes by rhodium(I) boryl complexes: regioselective C-H activation at the ortho-position

An unprecedented reaction pathway for the borylation of SCF3-containing arenes using [Rh(Bpin)(PEt3)3] (pin=pinacolato) is reported. Catalytic processes were developed and the functionalizations proceed under mild reaction conditions. The C-H activations occur with a unique regioselectivity for the position ortho to the SCF3 group, which apparently serves as directing group. Borylated SCF3 compounds can serve as versatile building blocks.

Trichlorido[4-meth-oxy-2,6-bis-(2-pyrimidin-2-yl-κN)phenyl-κC(1)]platinum(IV) acetonitrile monosolvate

In the title complex, [Pt(C(15)H(11)N(4)O)Cl(3)]·CH(3)CN, the Pt(IV) ion adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry defined by a tridentate cyclo-metalated NCN ligand and three Cl atoms. In the crystal, individual mol-ecules are aggregated into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions and π-π stacking inter-actions between the tridentate ligands, the shortest ring centroid-centroid distance being 3.613 Å.
