Abstract
Chiral 1,3-amino alcohols are ubiquitous structural motifs in natural products and active pharmaceutical ingredients. We present a highly enantioselective, inverse-electron-demand hetero-Diels-Alder reaction of olefins with in situ generated N-Boc-formaldimine catalyzed by strong and confined Bro̷nsted acids. This transformation provides direct access to valuable 1,3-amino alcohols from styrenes and 1,1-disubtituted alkenes. Isotope labeling studies and kinetic analysis reveal an unusual mechanism involving an oxazinium intermediate and a catalyst order greater than one.

Abstract
A novel approach to skipped dienes has been developed through the TMSOTf-mediated one-pot addition-substitution of olefins 2a, 2f and 2g with imines 1a-1g, and a series of aryl substituted skipped dienes 3aa-3gf were accordingly obtained in 62%-94% yields. Moreover, semicyclic N,O-acetals 5 and 7 could also undergo this transformation to produce the corresponding skipped dienes 6aa and 6af-6al and 8ba and 8bf-8bk in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
A Brønsted acid catalyzed intramolecular cyclization of N-Cbz-protected diazoketones, derived from α-amino acids, is described. The reaction proceeds under metal-free conditions and is promoted by ecofriendly silica-supported HClO4 as the catalyst and methanol as the solvent. This transformation enables the short synthesis of various 1,3-oxazinane-2,5-diones under mild reaction conditions and in good yields (up to 90%). The set-up is very simple; by just mixing all reagents together with no work-up necessary before purification, this protocol takes a greener approach.

Abstract
A chiral magnesium potassium binaphthyldisulfonate cluster, as a chiral Brønsted acid catalyst, was shown to catalyze an enantioselective cycloaddition of styrenes with aldimines for the first time. The strong Brønsted acidity of the catalyst precursors, which might dissolve drying agents and take up the leached Mg2+ and K+, serendipitously led to good enantioselectivity. Mechanistic aspects were supported by X-ray and ESI-MS analysis of the catalyst and a kinetics study of the reaction. Useful transformations to optically active 1,3-amino alcohols on a gram scale were also demonstrated.

Abstract
Easy does it! The chemoselective oxidative α-C(sp(3))-H alkylation/cyclization reaction of N-benzyl carbamates using simple mono-, di-, and trisubstituted olefins provides functionalized N-heterocycles such as oxazinones. A TEMPO oxoammonium salt serves as the oxidant, making it possible to carry out the reaction at low temperatures. Neither a metal catalyst nor preactivation in the α-position to the nitrogen group are needed.
