Abstract
The pyrimidine scaffold is present in many bioactive drugs; therefore, efficient synthetic routes that provide shorter reaction times, higher yields, and site-selective reactions are constantly being sought. Ultrasound (US) irradiation has emerged as an alternative energy source in the synthesis of these heterocyclic scaffolds, and over the last ten years there has been a significant increase in the number of publications mentioning US in either the construction or derivatization of the pyrimidine core. This review presents a detailed summary (with 140 references) of the effects of US (synergic or not) on the construction and derivatization of the pyrimidine core through classical reactions (e.g., multicomponent, cyclocondensation, cycloaddition, and alkylation reactions). The main points that were taken into consideration are as follows: chemo- and regioselectivity issues, and the results of conventional heating methods compared to US and mechanistic insights that are also presented and discussed for key reactions.

Abstract
Although the administration of combined therapy is efficient to tuberculosis (TB) treatment caused by susceptible Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains, to overcome the multidrug resistance is still a challenge. Some studies have reported evidence about tetrahydropyridines as a putative efflux pump inhibitor, including in mycobacteria, being a promising strategy against M. tuberculosis. Thus, we investigated the biological potential of 2,2,2-trifluoro-1-(1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridin-3-yl)ethanone derivative (NUNL02) against two strains of M. tuberculosis. NUNL02 was able to increase the susceptibility of the multidrug resistant strain to the anti-TB drugs, resulting in synergism with rifampicin. Still, we assume that this compound plays a role in the efflux mechanism in M. tuberculosis, besides, to be able to kill the bacillus under the deprivation of essential nutrients. Thus, our findings highlight NUNL02 as a promising prototype to develop a new adjuvant for TB treatment, mainly as EPI.

Abstract
AbstractIn this work, the reactivity of 5-bromo-1,1,1-trifluoro-4-methoxypent-3-en-2-one toward primary aliphatic amines was studied. The reaction was found to be extremely selective to synthesize a series of 1-alkyl-4-(aminoalkyl)-2-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrroles (13 examples, up to 90% yield) and a series of highly functionalized β-enaminones (6 examples, up to 78% yield), with only the amount of amine and the reaction conditions needing to be controlled. The structure of the products was unambiguously determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction and 2D NMR experiments.

Abstract
We successfully extracted isoliquiritigenin from Glycyrrhiza uralensis through the utilization of an ionic liquid-based ultrasonic-assisted extraction (ILUAE) approach. Briefly, we utilized the solution of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide ([BMIM]Br) as solvent and optimized key ILUAE parameters such as solid-liquid ratios, concentrations of ionic liquids, and the times of ultrasonication. Based on a single-factor experiment, we utilized the response surface method (RSM) approach to optimize the extraction procedure. The approach revealed that the optimal energy consumption time was 120 min, with the ultrasonic extraction temperature of 60°C. Using these optimized parameters together with the solid-liquid ratio (dried G. uralensis powder: [BMIM]Br of 0.3 mol/L) of 1 : 16.163 and the [BMIM]Br of 0.3 mol/L, we achieved a 0.665 mg/g extraction yield. Overall, these findings thus indicate that we were able to effectively use ILUAE as an efficient approach to reliably extract isoliquiritigenin in a reproducible and environmentally friendly manner.
