Synthesis of protected 2-amino-2-deoxy-D-xylothionolactam derivatives and some aspects of their reactivity

A facile synthesis of fully protected meso-diaminopimelic acid (DAP) and its application to the preparation of lipophilic N-acyl iE-DAP

Synthesis of beneficial protected meso-DAP 9 by cross metathesis of the Garner aldehyde-derived vinyl glycine 1b with protected allyl glycine 2 in the presence of Grubbs second-generation catalyst was performed. Preparation of lipophilic N-acyl iE-DAP as potent agonists of NOD 1-mediated immune response from 9 is described.

1-[2-(Pyrazin-2-ylsulfan-yl)eth-yl]pyrazine-2(1H)-thione

The title multifunctional twisted organic ligand, C₁₀H₁₀N₄S₂, contains a short C=S bond [1.671 (2) Å]. The dihedral angle between the two pyrazine rings is 39.83 (6)°. In the crystal, inter­molecular C—H⋯N and C—H⋯S hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a supra­molecular network.

Revisiting the Kinnel-Scheuer hypothesis for the biosynthesis of palau'amine

We propose herein an alternative biosynthetic pathway for palau'amine in order to resolve the stereochemical issue from the original Kinnel-Scheuer hypothesis. Furthermore, we use this revised hypothesis as a guide toward the laboratory synthesis of palau'amine.

Chemoselective deprotection of cyclic N,O-aminals using catalytic bismuth(III) bromide in acetonitrile

Cyclic N,O-aminals can be chemoselectively and efficiently deprotected using a catalytic amount of bismuth(III) bromide in acetonitrile at room temperature. This selectivity was also achieved in the presence of terminal O,O-acetal functionality. The susceptibility of various other groups to cleavage was also investigated. This method has advantages of ease of operation and use of nontoxic and inexpensive reagents in catalytic amounts.
