Abstract
The ligand 2,4,6-tris(2-picolylamino)-1,3,5-triazine (o-H3tpat) with essentially resonative structure and two copper(II)-based one-dimensional coordination chain structures, [Cu3Cl5(o-H2tpat)(H2O)]·MeOH·CH2Cl2 (1) and [Cu2(o-H2tpat)(H2O)(MeOH)(NO3)2](NO3)·3MeOH (2), with different structural patterns have been synthesized and characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. For o-H3tpat, two crystalline forms showing different solid-state structural features are obtained from MeOH/Et2O (form I) and CH2Cl2/Et2O (form II), respectively. The o-H3tpat form I adopts an asymmetric-configured all-amino resonative tautomer with three cis-trans-trans-arranged pyridyl groups, whereas the o-H3tpat form II adopts also an identical resonative structure but where two of the three pyridyl groups are in a cis-manner and the third one is nearly coplanar with the central aminotriazine core. On the other hand, the designed tripodal ligand in both Cu(II)-complexes serves as a monoanion, o-H2tpat(-), which suits a propeller-configured all-imino resonative structure in 1 and a syn-anti-configured amino-imino-imino resonative structure in 2. These observations significantly indicate that the o-H3tpat ligand can self-adjust and interconvert its conformation via a possible structure transformation associated with proton-shift to adapt a change in the crystallization and self-assembly reaction systems. In the magnetic point of view, 1 is treated as repeated chains composed of infinite {Cu6Cl10} units wherein the hexanuclear unit is further decomposed to one {Cu(II)4Cl6} and two magnetically isolated {Cu(II)Cl2} subunits. Antiferromagnetic interactions are found for the Cu4 subunits (g = 2.33, 2J1 = -5.6 cm(-1), 2J2 = -8.6 cm(-1), 2J3 = -4.1 cm(-1), and J4 held to zero). For 2, it is considered as an infinite chain that composes of Cu2 units antiferromagnetically coupled (g = 2.03, 2J1 = -0.2 cm(-1)). The small antiferromagnetic exchange constants in both 1 and 2 suggest that the unpaired spins do not effectively interact through the tripodal o-H2tpat(-) ligands.

Abstract
2,4,6-Tris(4-hydroxybenzimino)-1,3,5-triazine [1] 2 has been synthesized from the reaction of 1 equiv. melamine (2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-triazine) and 3 equiv. 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde. Then, 2,4,6-tris(4-(4,6-dichloro-1,3,5-triazine-2-yloxy)benzimino)-1,3,5-triazine 3 has been synthesized from the reaction of 1 equiv. 2 and 3 equiv. cyanuric chloride. And then, two new triazine centered dendrimeric ligands 2,4,6-tris(4-(4,6-bis(4-carboxyphenyloxy)-1,3,5-triazine-2-yloxy)benzimino)-1,3,5-triazine 4 and 2,4,6-tris(4-(4,6-bis(3,5-dicarboxyphenyloxy)-1,3,5-triazine-2-yloxy)benzimino)-1,3,5-triazine 5 have been synthesized from the reaction of 1 equiv. 3 and 6 equiv 4-hydroxybenzoic acid or 5-hydroxyisophtalic acid. Finally, eight new multinuclear Fe(III) and Cr(III) complexes involving tetradenta Schiff bases N,N'-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine-(salenH(2)) or bis(salicylidene)-o-phenylene diamine-(salophH(2)) with 4 or 5 have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, (1)H NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy, thermal analyses and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complexes can also be characterized as low-spin distorted octahedral Fe(III) and Cr(III) bridged by carboxylic acids.

Abstract
Synthesis of the 2,2'-dipyridylamine derivatives di-2-pyridylaminomethylbenzene 1, 1,2-bis(di-2-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene 2, 1,3-bis(di-2-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene 3, 2,6-bis(di-2-pyridylaminomethyl)pyridine 4, 1,4-bis(di-2-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene 5, and 1,3,5-tris(di-2-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene 6 are reported together with the single-crystal X-ray structures of 2, 3, and 5. Reaction of individual salts of the type AgX (where X = NO(3)(-), PF(6)(-), ClO(4)(-), or BF(4)(-)) with the above ligands has led to the isolation of thirteen Ag(I) complexes, nine of which have also been characterised by X-ray diffraction. In part, the inherent flexibility of the respective ligands has resulted in the adoption of a range of coordination arrangements. A series of liquid-liquid (H(2)O/CHCl(3)) extraction experiments of Ag(I) with varying concentrations of 1-6 in the organic phase have been undertaken, with the counter ion in the aqueous phase being respectively picrate, perchlorate and nitrate. In general, extraction efficiencies for a given ionophore followed the Hofmeister order of picrate > perchlorate > nitrate; in each case the tris-dpa derivative 6 acting as the most efficient extractant of the six systems investigated. Competitive seven-metal bulk membrane transport experiments (H(2)O/CHCl(3)/H(2)O) employing the above ligands as the ionophore in the organic phase and equimolar concentrations of Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Pb(II) and Ag(I) in the aqueous source phase were also undertaken, with transport occurring against a pH gradient. Under the conditions employed 1 and 5 yielded negligible transport of any of the metals present in the source phase while sole transport selectivity for Ag(I) was observed for 2-4 and 6.

Abstract
A solvothermal synthetic procedure has been exploited to prepare the new [Cu(3)L(NO(3))(6)](n) coordination polymer (1) by reaction of the polydentate N,N'-{2,4-di-[(di-pyridin-2-yl)amine]-1,3,5-triazine}ethylenediamine ligand (opytrizediam L) with copper(II) nitrate. 1 has been structurally characterized by means of the conventional X-ray single-crystal diffraction technique. It crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/c space group with a = 16.830(3), b = 20.701(4), c = 18.170(4) Angstroms, beta = 113.26(3) degrees, V = 5816(2) Angstroms(3), Z = 4. 1 consists of trinuclear Cu(3)L(NO(3))(5) units connected by means of a nitrato-O,O' bridge. The resulting chains are involved in weak interchain head-to-tail pi-pi stacking interactions. In the presence of moisture, 1 is readily converted into the hydrated [Cu(3)L(NO(3))(5)](NO(3)).H(2)O form (2). This second phase, monoclinic P2(1)/c, consists of isolated [Cu(3)L(NO(3))(5)](+) and (NO(3))(-) ions which accommodate water molecules in the crystal lattice. These subtle chemical and structural modifications accompanying the moisture-triggered 1-to-2 transformation have been demonstrated through a X-ray powder diffraction study. A thermodiffractometric analysis has evidenced that this solid-to-solid transformation is fully reversible, i.e., thermally induced dehydration of 2 restores 1. The analysis of the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility for 2 has revealed very weak ferromagnetic interactions, consistent with the large Cu...Cu separation (ca. 7.5 Angstroms) in the trinuclear units.

Abstract
Two tetradentate ligands 1,2-bis[2-((dimethylamino)methyl)-6-pyridyl]ethane (L1) and 1,2-bis[2-(N-piperidinomethyl)-6-pyridyl]ethane (L2) and a hexadentate ligand 1,2-bis(2-((methyl(pyridylmethyl)amino)methyl)-6-pyridyl)ethane (L3) were prepared as part of a series of new polypyridine ligands possessing a 1,2-bis(2-pyridyl)ethane common moiety. L1 and L2 form mononuclear Cu(II) complexes [Cu(L)(Cl)](ClO4) [L = L1 (1) and L2 (2)], respectively. L3 forms a dinuclear Cu(II) complex [Cu2(L3)((PhO)2PO2)2](ClO4)2 (3) or a hexanuclear Cu(II) complex [Cu6(L3)3((PhO)PO3)4](ClO4)4 (4) in the presence of (PhO)2PO2- monoanion or (PhO)PO3(2-) dianion, respectively. The structures of 1-4 were determined by X-ray analysis. The structures in solution were investigated by means of FAB and CSI MS spectrometers. The structural flexibility of the common 1,2-bis(2-pyridyl)ethane moiety and of the pendant groups allows complexes 1-4 to adapt to the various structures. Each Cu ion in 1 and 2 adopts a square pyramidal geometry with one Cl ion and two pendant groups (L1 and L2) binding in a bis-bidentate chelate mode. There is no steric repulsion between the pendant groups, so that the ligands specifically stabilize the mononuclear structures. L3 binds two Cu(II) ions with two pendant groups in tridentate chelate modes and, with the incorporation of phosphate esters, various dinuclear units are formed in 3 and 4. In 4, a dinuclear unit of [Cu2(L3)]4+ links two dinuclear units of [Cu2(L3)(PhOPO3)2] with four (mu3)-1,3-PhOPO3(2-) bridges. The hydrolytic activity of 2 and a dicopper(II) complex of L3 was examined with tris(p-nitrophenyl) phosphate (TNP) as a substrate.
