Hypozincemia in patients with malignant melanoma

In patients with malignant melanoma a decreased zinc content in the serum was observed, and our previous studies had demonstrated an increased urinary zinc excretion in these patients. These results support our hypothesis of association of zinc with melanin structures. The significant redistribution of zinc in malignant melanoma is suggested for monitoring of this disease.
