Abstract
IV-VI semiconductor quantum dots embedded into an inorganic matrix represent nanostructured composite materials with potential application in temperature sensor systems. This study explores the optical, structural, and morphological properties of a novel PbS quantum dots (QDs)-doped inorganic thin film belonging to the Al2O3-SiO2-P2O5 system. The film was synthesized by the sol-gel method, spin coating technique, starting from a precursor solution deposited on a glass substrate in a multilayer process, followed by drying of each deposited layer. Crystalline PbS QDs embedded in the inorganic vitreous host matrix formed a nanocomposite material. Specific investigations such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical absorbance in the ultraviolet (UV)-visible (Vis)-near infrared (NIR) domain, NIR luminescence, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were used to obtain a comprehensive characterization of the deposited film. The dimensions of the PbS nanocrystallite phase were corroborated by XRD, SEM-EDX, and AFM results. The luminescence band from 1400 nm follows the luminescence peak of the precursor solution and that of the dopant solution. The emission of the PbS-doped film in the NIR domain is a premise for potential application in temperature sensing systems.

Abstract
We fabricated a lateral photovoltaic device for use as infrared to terahertz (THz) detectors by chemically depositing PbS films on titanium substrates. We discussed the material properties of PbS films grown on glass with varying deposition conditions. PbS was deposited on Ti substrates and by taking advantage of the Ti/PbS Schottky junction, we discussed the photocurrent transients as well as the room temperature spectrum response measured by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer. Our photovoltaic PbS device operates at room temperature for wavelength ranges up to 50 µm, which is in the terahertz region, making the device highly applicable in many fields.

Abstract
Nanoparticle Lead sulfide was synthesized via simple chemical method and deposited on glass substrates at different substrate temperatures by thermal evaporation technique. The synthesized nanoparticle PbS was analyzed and confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning electron microscopy SEM with EDX and thermogravimetry. The structural, optical, morphological and electrical properties of the deposited films were studied using XRD, UV-Vis, Raman, SEM with EDX, atomicforce microscopy AFM and Hall Effect measurements. The thickness of the deposited samples was measured using thickness profilometer. The Raman shift in the peak occurs toward lower energy with increasing substrate temperature deposited lead sulfide. The Z-scan study with open aperture was carried out at 532 nm using 5 ns laser pulse on the deposited films which shows that nonlinear absorption arises from saturable absorption process. The deposited PbS film exhibits p-type conductivity in Hall measurement.

Abstract
Nanocrystalline PbS thin films were prepared using chemical bath deposition method on glass substrates, together with lead acetate as a source of lead ions (Pb2+) and thiourea as a source of sulfide ions (S2-) with different molar concentrations. The structural properties of thin films were studied using X-ray diffraction.The patterns showed a polycrystalline structure, and the preferred orientation changed along (111) and (200) planes .The grain size of the thin films varied from 27 to 41 nm. The crystallites were under strain, which varied between 0.054 and 0.3. Scanning electron microscope images showed that all the films have uniform surface morphology over the entire glass substrate and that the films were of good quality.

Abstract
Nanometer-size PbS quantum dots have been made by electrodeposition on a Au(111) substrate. The deposited nanocrystals have a flattened cubic shape. We probed the single-electron energy-level spectrum of individual quantum dots by scanning tunneling spectroscopy and found that it deviates strongly from that of spherical PbS quantum dots. The measured energy-level spectrum is successfully explained by considering strong confinement in a flattened cubic box.
