Abstract
Two new aporphine alkaloids, N-nitrosoanonaine (1) and N-nitrosoxylopine (2), were isolated from the aerial parts of Duguetia furfuracea, a weed found in several Brazilian regions. Their structures were elucidated by NMR analysis, CHN analysis, CD, IR, and MS data. The single-crystal X-ray structural determination of the structure of 1 was also performed.

Abstract
The structural similarity between beta-lactam antibiotics, such as penicillin, and isoxazolidine-3,5-dicarboxylic acids led to the hypothesis that isoxazolidine-3,5-dicarboxylic acids could be effective analogs of beta-lactam antibiotics. The syntheses of relevant isoxazolidine-3,5-dicarboxylic acids from acylnitroso Diels-Alder adducts and subsequent biological testing have shown that these first examples are inhibitors of Escherichia coli X580.

Abstract
Chiral 9-oxazolidinyl anthracene derivatives have been prepared as single diastereoisomers by condensation of 9-anthraldehyde with the appropriate N-alkyl amino alcohol. Asymmetric Diels-Alder cycloadditions of these with N-methyl maleimide proceeds in good yield and in good diastereoselectivity, the sense of which may be controlled by judicious choice of the N-alkyl group.

Abstract
A structurally representative series of 1,2- and 1,3-cyclic sulfamidates react with enolates derived from methyl alpha-phenylthioacetate 9b to give 5- and 6-substituted alpha-phenylthio lactams 20-24. These products provide, via the corresponding sulfoxides, an entry to alpha,beta-unsaturated lactams e.g. 12, 27, 29 and their alpha-phenylthio analogues e.g. 26 and 30. With the enantiomerically pure 1,2-cyclic sulfamidates 10, 15 and 17, these reactions all proceed with no detectable loss of stereochemical integrity.

An iterative procedure for the synthesis of a novel class of synthetic polyamines has been developed, utilising the regioselective ring-opening of aziridinium ion intermediates; facile N-allyl deprotection of intermediate polyamines allows the rapid construction of high molecular weight, stereochemically defined compounds in a convergent manner.

Abstract
The generation of diverse chemical libraries using the "libraries from libraries" concept by combining solid-phase and solution-phase methods is described. The central features of the approaches presented are the use of solid-phase synthesis methods for the generation of a combinatorial polyamine library. Following cleavage from the resin with HF, the polyamine library was reacted with ethyl nitrite in the solution phase to yield the desired nitrosamine library in good yield and purity. The approaches described enable the efficient syntheses of individual nitrosamines as well as mixture-based nitrosamine libraries.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] Asymmetric aldol addition reactions have been conducted with (1R,2S)-ephedrine-derived 3,4,5,6-tetrahydro-2H-1,3,4-oxadiazin-2-one (2). Diastereoselectivities range from 75:25 to 99:1 for the formation of the crude non-Evans syn adducts 8a-h. The facial selectivity of the enolate is directed by the stereogenic N(4)-methyl substituent. Aldol adduct 8a is readily cleaved by acid hydrolysis to afford (2S,3S)-3-hydroxy-2-methyl-3-phenylpropionic acid (9) in >95% ee.
