Abstract
[reaction: see text] Diphenyl diselenide (and disulfide) undergo facile reaction with indium(I) iodide and the corresponding intermediate complex condenses in situ with a variety of substituted vinyl bromides in the presence of a catalytic amount of tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) [Pd(PPh3)4] in THF at room temperature to produce vinylic selenides and sulfides in good yields. The conversion of (E)-vinyl bromides is remarkably stereoselective giving (E)-vinyl selenides (and sulpfides) whereas the stereoselectivity in reaction of (Z)-vinyl bromides is not very good.

Abstract
Treatment of alkyne with alkanethiol in the presence of a catalytic amount of cesium carbonate and a radical inhibitor in DMSO provides the corresponding adduct, (Z)-1-alkenyl alkyl sulfide, in good yield with high selectivity.

3,4-Dichalcogenopenta-2,4-dienylation of aldehydes proceeded in good to high yields using 4-ethoxy-1-(benzenesulfenyl)-2-(methanesulfenyl)- (5), 4-ethoxy-1,2-bis(benzenesulfenyl)but-1,3-diene (6), and 1-selenenyl derivatives 7 and 8. This novel four-carbon homologation could be applied to a synthesis of 3,4,7,8-tetrakis(benzenesulfenyl)-10,10-dimethylundeca-2,4,6,8-tetraenal (20).

Abstract
A novel electrotelluration process is described in which a Michael addition of an alkyl or aryl tellurolate anion occurs onto an activated alkyne with subsequent trapping of a vinyl anion with electrophiles (aldehydes and ketones) other than a proton. This process provides an efficient regio- and stereospecific route to tri- and tetrasubstituted alkenes. Methodologically significant examples of this chemistry were studied in which aryl and alkyl tellurolate anions were added to omega-keto alkynyl esters in a Michael reaction, and the incipient vinyl anions were trapped intramolecularly by the internal aldehydes. The reactive centers were tethered by different lengths of alkyl chains to form highly functionalized five-, six-, seven-, and eight-membered rings in modest to good yields.

Abstract
Lithium alkynylselenolate anions react completely with 1.0 equiv of Cp(2)Zr(H)Cl in THF at room temperature to give exclusively the alpha-zirconated vinylselenolate intermediates 23-27, which by treatment with an alkyl halide afforded the alpha-zirconated vinyl alkylselenide intermediates 29-33. Reaction of 29-33 with butyltellurenyl bromide results in the formation of ketene telluro(seleno) acetals 35-39 with total control of the regio- and stereochemistry. The synthetic utility of the ketene telluro(seleno) acetals obtained here was demonstrated by reaction of 36 with butyllithium. This promotes the exclusive and stereospecific removal of the tellurium moiety and enables formation of the corresponding selenium-containing allylic alcohol of type 44, alpha-(alkylseleno)-alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehyde 45, ester 46, or carboxylic acid 47, after reaction with different types of electrophiles.
