Abstract
An efficient procedure for Chan-Lam coupling reactions of arylboronic acids with 1H-imidazole derivatives using N,O-bidentate ligand-tunable copper(ii) complexes as a catalyst under base-free conditions has been developed. This protocol features mild reaction conditions, high yields and compatibility with different functional groups, providing a direct and facile strategy for the construction of C-N bonds and synthesis of heterocyclic compounds.

Abstract
The syntheses of various N-protected aromatic-ring fused pyrrole-2-carboxylate derivatives have been accomplished using mild one-pot Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons olefination and Cu-catalyzed intramolecular N-arylation reactions. The optimized mild one-pot reaction conditions of various 2-bromo arylcarboxaldehydes with commercially available N-protected phosphonoglycine trimethylesters gave the desired aromatic-ring fused pyrrole-2-carboxylates, such as substituted indole-, all regio-isomeric azaindole-, and thienopyrrole-2-carboxylates, in good to excellent yields. These conditions showed broad substrate compatibility, without the loss of the protecting group.

Abstract
Pregnenolone (1) was used as a template to develop new anticancer compounds. Ring D modification of 1 through its reaction with cyanoacetylhydrazine (2) gave the hydrazide-hydrazone derivative 3. The latter compound underwent heterocyclization reactions to give the pyrazole, pyridine, thiazole and thiophene derivatives of pregnenolone. The cytotoxicity of the newly synthesized heterocyclic steroids against three human tumor cell lines namely breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7), non-small cell lung cancer (NCI-H460) and CNS cancer (SF-268) were studied. Some of tested compounds were found to exhibit much higher inhibitory effects towards the three tumor cell lines than the reference drug, doxorubicin.

Abstract
An efficient use of NiCl(2)·6H(2)O, for the cross-coupling of arylboronic acids with various N-nucleophiles, has been demonstrated. The method is practical and offers an alternative to the corresponding Cu-mediated Chan-Lam process for the construction of the C-N bond.

Abstract
The efficient conversion of boronic acids, both arylboronic acids and alkylboronic acids, to the corresponding amines in water was accomplished in moderate to good yields using Cu(NO3)2 complexes of amines as the nitrogen source. The coupling reactions were performed in water at 30 °C for 2 hours.

Abstract
A mild and efficient method was developed for the copper-catalyzed additions of H-phosphonate diesters to boronic acids under the copper catalyst system Cu(2)O/1,10-phenanthroline. To the best of our knowledge this finding is the first example of a copper-catalyzed synthesis of aryl phosphonates from arylboronic acids and H-phosphonate dialkyl esters.

Abstract
Through a de novo design approach, hydroxamates derived from trans-cyclopropyl dicarboxylate were examined as potential TNF-alpha converting enzyme (TACE) inhibitors. Two distinctive series of inhibitors (A and B) were identified and shown to have different structure-activity relationship trends and selectivity profiles against other matrix metalloproteases despite their close structural similarities. X-ray crystallography of the inhibitors binding to the TACE enzyme demonstrates that each series derives its activity from the opposite enantiomer of the cyclopropyl scaffolds, which display almost superimposable hydroxamate groups that coordinate to the zinc at the catalytic site. Mode A inhibitors occupy the S1'-S3' binding pockets, whereas mode B resides in the nonprime binding sites.

Abstract
N-Arylation of imidazoles and amines with arylboronic acids was accomplished with copper-exchanged fluorapatite (CuFAP) in methanol at room temperature. The products N-arylimidazoles and N-arylamines were isolated in good to excellent yields. A variety of arylboronic acids were converted to the corresponding N-arylimidazoles and N-arylamines, demonstrating the versatility of the reaction.
