Rethinking Innateness attempts to provide a new perspective on the nature-nurture debate by introducing recent concepts from evolutionary psychology and from connectionism. I suggest that these ideas do not form a coherent thesis and that this incoherence manifests iteself in a number of contradictions in the book. I try to indicate some of these; suggest that they lie in the maintenance of a deterministic line; and indicate in the final section an alternative to that line.
