Syntheses of 2-Iminoindolin-3-ones and 2-Alknyl-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones from 3-Diazoindolin-2-imines

I2-Cs2CO3 Mediated Intramolecular C2-Amination and Oxidative Rearrangement Cascade of C-3 Phenylthio Indoles: A Route to Synthesize Thiosulfonate-Embedded 2-Iminoindolin-3-ones

An efficient, transition-metal-free protocol employing I2/Cs2CO3 for the synthesis of thiosulfonate containing 2-iminoindolin-3-ones motifs has been developed from C-3 phenylthio indoles. The reaction proceeded through intramolecular cyclization involving C-N bond formation, leading to the formation of indole-fused benzothiazines as a key intermediate. Remarkably, Cs2CO3 played a crucial role in the reaction as an oxygen source, enabling oxidative rearrangement with [1,4]-sulfonyl migration to furnish the final products with the formation of multiple functional groups such as C═O, C═N, and S-SO2.

Rhodium Catalyzed [4 + 1]-Annulation of o-Acylanilines with 3-Diazoindoline-2-imines

An efficient rhodium catalyzed [4 + 1]-annulation of o-acylanilines with 3-diazoindoline-2-imines has been successfully accomplished for the synthesis of spiroindolines in good to excellent yield. The reaction occurs through formation of N-ylide followed by cyclization and showed good tolerance to various functional groups. Gram-scale synthesis, diastereoselective construction of tetrasubstituted indoline, synthesis of spirooxindole, and isolation of potential intermediates have also been demonstrated.

NiII NPs entrapped within a matrix of l-glutamic acid cross-linked chitosan supported on magnetic carboxylic acid-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube: a new and efficient multi-task catalytic system for the green one-pot synthesis of diverse heterocyclic frameworks

In the present study, a new l-glutamic acid cross-linked chitosan supported on magnetic carboxylic acid-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube (Fe3O4/f-MWCNT-CS-Glu) nanocomposite was prepared through a convenient one-pot multi-component sequential strategy. Then, nickelII nanoparticles (NiII NPs) were entrapped within a matrix of the mentioned nanocomposite. Afterward, the structure of the as-prepared Fe3O4/f-MWCNT-CS-Glu/NiII nanosystem was elucidated by various techniques, including FT-IR, PXRD, SEM, TEM, SEM-based EDX and elemental mapping, ICP-OES, TGA/DTA, and VSM. In the next part of this research, the catalytic applications of the mentioned nickelII-containing magnetic nanocomposite were assessed upon green one-pot synthesis of diverse heterocyclic frameworks, including bis-coumarins (3a-n), 2-aryl(or heteroaryl)-2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones (5a-r), 9-aryl-3,3,6,6-tetramethyl-3,4,5,6,7,9-hexahydro-1H-xanthene-1,8(2H)-diones (7a-n), and 2-amino-4-aryl-7,7-dimethyl-5-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-chromene-3-carbonitriles (9a-n). The good-to-excellent yields of the desired products, satisfactory reaction rates, use of water solvent or solvent-free reaction medium, acceptable turnover numbers (TONs) and turnover frequencies (TOFs), along with comfortable recoverability and satisfying reusability of the as-prepared nanocatalyst for at least eight successive runs, and also easy work-up and purification procedures are some of the advantages of the current synthetic protocols.

Copper-Catalyzed [4 + 1] Annulation of Enaminothiones with Indoline-Based Diazo Compounds

A concise synthetic route to spiroindoline-fused S-heterocycles was developed through copper-catalyzed [4 + 1] annulation using enaminothiones as donor-acceptor synthons. Both 3-diazoindolin-2-imines and 3-diazooxindoles were amenable to work as effective C1 building blocks. The reaction proceeds via a copper-catalyzed cascade process involving the in situ generation of copper(I) carbene and C-S/C-C bond formation. This synthetic protocol features the use of readily available substrates, diverse substituent tolerance, and good to excellent yields.

Synthesis and characterization of novel hercynite@sulfuric acid and its catalytic applications in the synthesis of polyhydroquinolines and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones

Herein, we report the synthesis of hercynite@sulfuric acid as a novel nanomagnetic solid acid catalyst, containing the sulfuric acid catalytic sites on the surface of hercynite MNPs as the catalytic support. The as-synthesized nanocomposite was meticulously characterized using a wide range of physicochemical techniques; including, FT-IR, XRD, EDX, X-ray-mapping, SEM and VSM analysis. The catalytic activity of this nanomagnetic material was considered for the synthesis of the diversely substituted polyhydroquinolines and 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones under solvent free conditions and also cyclocondensation reactions in ethanol, respectively affording good to excellent yields. Moreover, it is worth mentioning that the heterogeneity of the catalyst was measured through its excellent reusability and hot-filtration test.
