Abstract
Herein, we present a green cascade approach for synthesizing a range of chemoselective polysubstituted pyrano[3',4':3,4]cyclopenta[1,2-c]chromenes containing a chiral stereocenter. The strategy involves a metal-free nucleophilic reaction between dialkyl (2E)-2-{2-oxo-3-[(2E)-3-aryl-2-propenoyl]-2H-chromen-4-yl}-2-butenedioates and α,α-dicyanoolefins under reflux conditions in ethanol solvent. Mechanistic studies have shown that the reaction proceeds via a cascade of steps, including Michael addition, intramolecular C- and O-cyclization, intramolecular trans-esterification, [1,2]-H and [1,5]-methoxy- and ethoxy carbonyl shift, and finally aromatization to yield the desired product. In this method, three bonds (2C-C and C-O) form in one pot, simultaneously forming two new cyclopentane and pyrano rings by double cyclization reactions. Other advantages of this method are that it has a simple operation, readily available starting materials, a chemoselective cascade process, transition metal-free, synthetically useful yields, and green conditions by using ethanol as a solvent.

Abstract
A novel one-pot pseudo-three-component reaction of 2-amino-4H-chromen-4-ones with 4-benzylidene-5-alkyl-2-aryl-2,4-dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-ones was investigated for the synthesis of the spiro[chromeno[2,3-b]pyridine-3,4'-pyrazole] derivatives. This procedure involved Michael addition, elimination, and hetero-Diels-Alder sequences, affording a series of spiropyrazolone-chromeno[2,3-b]pyridines in good yields that possessed cis relationships between two aryl groups and the carbonyl of the pyrazolone unit.

Abstract
Catalyzed by Rh2(esp)2 (10 mol%) and (±)-BINAP (20 mol%) in DCE at 80 °C, the cascade assembly between diazobarbiturates and alkylidene pyrazolones proceeded readily and produced spiro-furopyrimidines in 38-96% chemical yields. The chemical structure of the prepared spirofuro-pyrimidines was firmly confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
Under the catalysis of Rh2(OAc)4 (10 mol%) and binapbisphosphine ligand (±)-L3 (20 mol%) in DCE at 80 °C, the cascade cyclization of diazoimides with alkylidenepyrazolones underwent stereoselectively (dr > 20:1), affording pyrazole-fused oxa-bridged oxazocines in reasonable chemical yields. The chemical structure and relative configuration of title products were firmly identified by X-ray diffraction analysis.

Abstract
An enantioselective synthesis of spiropyrazolone-fused dihydrofuran-naphthoquinones is first demonstrated via a Michael addition/Chlorination/Nucleophilic substitution sequence. The reactions of 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone and α,β-unsaturated pyrazolones in the presence of the cinchona alkaloid derived hydrogen-bonding catalyst and NCS provide spiropyrazolone-fused 2,3-dihydronaphtho[2,3-b]furan-4,9-diones bearing contiguous stereocenters, of which one is the spiro quaternary stereocenter in high yields with exclusive diastereoselectivity and good to excellent enantioselectivities.

Abstract
Pyrazolones and pyrazoles, featuring nitrogen-nitrogen bonds, are two of the most important classes of heterocycles, owing to their widespread occurrence in medicinal chemistry and functional materials. The last decade has witnessed a rapid increase in the construction of chiral pyrazolone and pyrazole derivatives, with the application of pyrazolone derivatives as powerful synthons. Since our last review in 2018, a large number of new achievements has emerged in this area, requiring a timely update. Thus, this review summarizes these elegant achievements based on the multiple reactive sites of different pyrazolone synthons. In addition, important mechanisms and interesting biological investigations relating to the corresponding products are also discussed.
