Abstract
We describe an allylation reaction between 2-(2-azaaryl)acetic acids and allylic electrophiles catalyzed synergistically by a dual system consisting of borinic acid and a Pd complex under mild conditions. The decarboxylative allylation proceeds via a boron-bound enamine intermediate, which then interacts with a π-allylpalladium intermediate from the allylic electrophile. High yields of diallylation products highlight the method's efficiency. Intriguingly, when using 2-(2-pyridyl)acetic acid with a C3 substituent on the pyridyl ring, the reaction exclusively yields monoallylation products.

Abstract
A green and sustainable metal-free, additive-free olefination approach is proposed for the facile synthesis of various unsaturated N-heteroazaarenes from simple methyl-substituted heteroarenes and amines. The developed protocol employs only air as the sole oxidant and provides a useful strategy for obtaining various E-selective conjugated heterocyclic olefins. This provides a useful strategy for application in generating grams of a variety of unsaturated N-heteroazaarenes (up to 20.33 grams) and the synthetic imaging agents of STB-8 (2.40 gram) with high regioselectivity in one pot.

Abstract
A visible-light-induced cascade cyanoalkylsulfonylation/cyclization/aromatization of N-propargyl aromatic amines with K2S2O5 and cyclobutanone oxime esters for the construction of cyanoalkylsulfonylated quinolines is developed. This cascade transformation features mild reaction conditions, a broad substrate scope, and excellent functional group compatibility, providing a convenient route toward cyanoalkylsulfonylated quinolines via the formation of a C-C bond and two C-S bonds in one step.

Abstract
This review highlights the preparation of sodium sulfinates (RSO2Na) and their multifaceted synthetic applications. Substantial progress has been made over the last decade in the utilization of sodium sulfinates emerging as sulfonylating, sulfenylating or sulfinylating reagents, depending on reaction conditions. Sodium sulfinates act as versatile building blocks for preparing many valuable organosulfur compounds through S-S, N-S, and C-S bond-forming reactions. Remarkable advancement has been made in synthesizing thiosulfonates, sulfonamides, sulfides, and sulfones, including vinyl sulfones, allyl sulfones, and β-keto sulfones. The significant achievement of developing sulfonyl radical-triggered ring-closing sulfonylation and multicomponent reactions is also thoroughly discussed. Of note, the most promising site-selective C-H sulfonylation, photoredox catalytic transformations and electrochemical synthesis of sodium sulfinates are also demonstrated. Holistically, this review provides a unique and comprehensive overview of sodium sulfinates, which summarizes 355 core references up to March 2020. The chemistry of sodium sulfinate salts is divided into several sections based on the classes of sulfur-containing compounds with some critical mechanistic insights that are also disclosed.

Abstract
Herein we reported a Hf(OTf)4-catalyzed carbon-carbon bond formation reaction between 2-alkyl-azaarenes and para-quinone methides (p-QMs). This 1,6-conjugate addition protocol offered rapid access to a large array of triarylethane products in good yields. The catalyst loading could be reduced to 1 mol %. Studies pertinent to scale-up reaction and product derivatization were also presented.

Abstract
Silver-promoted sulfonylation and ring-expansion of vinylcyclopropanes with sodium sulfinates is established for the construction of 1-sulfonylmethylated 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes. This sulfonylation process involves a radical pathway, including sulfonyl radical formation, radical addition, ring-opening and cyclization. The 1-sulfonylmethylated 3,4-dihydronaphthalenes can be converted into other useful products.

Abstract
Heterocycles are a ubiquitous substructure in organic small molecules designed for use in materials and medicines. Recent work in catalysis has focused on enabling access to new heterocycle structures by sp3 C-H functionalization on alkyl side-chain substituents-especially at the heterobenzylic position-with more than two hundred manuscripts published just within the last ten years. Rather than describing in detail each of these reports, in this mini-review we attempt to highlight gaps in existing techniques. A semi-quantitative overview of ongoing work strongly suggests that several specific heterocycle types and bond formations outside of C-C, C-N, and C-O have been almost completely overlooked.

Abstract
A convenient and effective protocol for the synthesis of 3-sulfonated quinolines via copper-catalyzed electrophilic cyclization of N-propargylamines has been developed, in which cheap and stable sodium sulfinates were utilized as green sulfonylation reagents. This cascade transformation involves radical addition, cyclization and dehydrogenative aromatization processes in a one-pot reaction under mild conditions.

Abstract
An efficient method for the synthesis of 3-functionalized quinolines from commercially available acetophenones and anthranil has been described. Selectfluor propels the C(sp3)–H bond activation of the acetophenones and aza-Michael addition of anthranil resulting in annulated 3-acylquinolines in moderate to high yields. DMSO acts not only as a solvent but also as a one carbon donor in the reaction. An efficient method for the synthesis of 3-functionalized quinolines from acetophenones and anthranil mediated by Selectfluor was achieved.![]()
