Abstract
The synthesis of polyfunctionalized pyrroles via the cascade reactions of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and two molecules of ethyl secondary amines has been realized via simple iodine catalysis in the presence of Dess-Martin periodinane (DMP). The formation of the target pyrrole products involves the formation of one new C-C and two new C-N bonds via the major functionalization of six C(sp3)-H bonds, presenting a highly novel and efficient synthetic protocol toward pyrrole scaffolds.

Abstract
A Mn-catalyzed ligand-directed Csp3-Csp2 coupling of tertiary allylic alcohols with arylaldehydes has been developed. The method provides an efficient approach to access 1,5-diarylpent-1-en-3-ones via carbon-skeleton rearrangement-based aldol reaction.

Abstract
We report a photoinduced decarbonylative rearrangement of diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octenone in the facile synthesis of a functionalized diazabicyclo[4.1.0]heptene skeleton, a unique derivative of the hydropyridazine type structure which could be found in a variety of biologically active natural products. The scope of functional group compatibility in the photoreaction was examined by taking advantage of the easy access of the heterobicyclo[2.2.2] structure from the Diels-Alder reaction of masked o-benzoquinones. 4-Phenyl-1,2,4-triazoline-3,5-dione served as the dienophile which provided the adjacent N-N unit in hexahydropyridazine-type products of subsequent photorearrangement.

Ruthenium-Catalyzed Dehydrogenative Functionalization of Alcohols to Pyrroles: A Comparison between Metal-Ligand Cooperative and Non-cooperative Approaches. J Org Chem 2022; 87:7106-7123. Abstract
Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of two ruthenium-based pincer-type catalysts, [1]X (X = Cl, PF6) and 2, containing two different tridentate pincer ligands, 2-pyrazolyl-(1,10-phenanthroline) (L1) and 2-arylazo-(1,10-phenanthroline) (L2a/2b, L2a = 2-(phenyldiazenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline; L2b = 2-((4-chlorophenyl)diazenyl)-1,10-phenanthroline), and their application in the synthesis of substituted pyrroles via dehydrogenative alcohol functionalization reactions. In catalyst [1]X (X = Cl, PF6), the tridentate scaffold 2-pyrazolyl-(1,10-phenanthroline) (L1) is apparently redox innocent, and all the redox events occur at the metal center, and the coordinated ligands remain as spectators. In contrast, in catalysts 2a and 2b, the coordinated azo-aromatic scaffolds are highly redox-active and known to participate actively during the dehydrogenation of alcohols. A comparison between the catalytic activities of these two catalysts was made, starting from the simple dehydrogenation of alcohols to further dehydrogenative functionalization of alcohols to various substituted pyrroles to understand the advantages/disadvantages of the metal-ligand cooperative approach. Various substituted pyrroles were prepared via dehydrogenative coupling of secondary alcohols and amino alcohols, and the N-substituted pyrroles were synthesized via dehydrogenative coupling of aromatic amines with cis-2-butene-1,4-diol and 2-butyne-1,4-diol, respectively. Several control reactions and spectroscopic experiments were performed to characterize the catalysts and establish the reaction mechanism.

Abstract
The first example of the Pd-catalyzed addition of organoboron reagents to dinitriles, as an efficient means of preparing 2,5-diarylpyrroles and 2,6-diarylpyridines, has been discussed here. Furthermore, the highly selective carbopalladation of dinitriles with organoboron reagents to give long-chain ketonitriles has been developed as well. Based on the broad scope of substrates, excellent functional group tolerance, and use of commercially available substrates, the Pd-catalyzed addition reaction of arylboronic acid and dinitriles is expected to be significant in future synthetic procedures.
