Abstract
γ-Lactams are privileged five-membered pharmaco-phores in numerous bioactive compounds, but access to these motifs typically relies on cycloaddition/substitution chemistry involving activated substrates or CO carbonylations under harsh conditions. Here, we report a new route to functionalized γ-lactams through formal carbonylation of azetidines under nonprecious metal catalysis. The method leverages a copper-stabilized difluorocarbene to promote site-selective insertion followed by in situ hydrolysis to unmask the lactam group. In contrast to most difluorocarbene reactions that cause ring cleavage of saturated heterocycles in the presence of heat, the present system operates at a low temperature and retains the integrity of the cyclic structure. Synthesis of various drug-like lactams and a therapeutic agent for diabetes highlights utility.

Abstract
The development of effective synthetic methods to construct γ-lactams bearing a chiral α-quaternary carbon from relatively inert C(O)-H bonds with alkenes has been an elusive challenge. Herein, we used a naphthylamine-derived phosphine oxide ligating Ni and Al bimetallic catalyst to realize a carbonylative cyclization of formyl C-H bonds with alkenes, highly regio- and enantioselectively constructing γ-lactams bearing a chiral α-quaternary carbon in up to 99% yield and 98% ee. These γ-lactams proved to be versatile synthetic precursors for many biologically active molecules.

Abstract
A mild Pd-catalyzed three-component cascade cyclization functionalization of o-iodostyrenes, internal alkynes and boron reagents is presented. The transformation is driven by a controlled reaction sequence of intermolecular carbopalladation, intramolecular Heck-type cyclization, and a borylation process to give versatile boryl-functionalized indene skeletons in a selective fashion. Significantly, (Bpin)2, (Bneop)2 and CH2(Bpin)2 as boron sources are all tolerated. Additionally, the synthetic utility of this approach is demonstrated by gram-scale synthesis and synthetic transformations.

Abstract
We report an enantioselective copper-catalyzed Kinugasa/aldol domino reaction. This strategy enables access to a range of spirocyclic β-lactam pyrrolidinones in a stereoselective fashion. Under mild reaction conditions, prochiral alkyne-tethered ketones are coupled with nitrones to enable the facile construction of two spirofused ring systems containing three continuous stereocenters with excellent enantioselectivity. Also disclosed are post-transformation modifications demonstrating potential downstream functionalization of the spirocyclic molecules.

Abstract
Borylation has become a powerful method to synthesize organoboranes as versatile building blocks in organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and materials science. Copper-promoted borylation reactions are extremely attractive due to the low cost and non-toxicity of the copper catalyst, mild reaction conditions, good functional group tolerance, and convenience in chiral induction. In this review, we mainly updated recent advances (from 2020 to 2022) in the synthetic transformations in C=C/C≡C multiple bonds, and C=E multiple bonds mediated by copper boryl systems.

Abstract
Nitrogen-based heterocycles have aroused widespread interest due to their reoccurrence in many pharmaceuticals. Amongst these motifs, the enantioenriched lactams are the ubiquitous scaffolds found in myriad biologically active natural products and drugs. Recently, the transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric carbamoylation has been widely employed as a straightforward arsenal for chiral lactam architecture synthesis, including β-lactam and γ-lactam. However, despite the extensive efforts, there still remains no protocol to accomplish the related δ-lactam synthesis. In this manuscript, the Ni-catalyzed enantioselective carbamoylation of unactivated alkenes by the leverage of reductive dicarbofunctionalization strategy allows for the expedient access to two types of mostly common six-membered lactams: 3,4-dihydroquinolinones and 2-piperidinone in high yield and enantioselectivity. This protocol features with good functional group tolerance, as well as broad substrate scope. The newly developed chiral 8-Quinox skeleton ligand is the key parameter for this transformation, which significantly enhances the reactivity and enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Copper-catalyzed enantioselective borylative cyclization with various electrophiles via difunctionalization of unsaturated hydrocarbons is a powerful tool for the generation of interesting boron-containing carbocycles and heterocycles processes involving a chiral organocopper intermediate. Alkenes, allenes, and alkynes are versatile and easily accessible substrates that can be subjected to a wide range of reactions to produce densely functionalized, enantioenriched products. In this chapter, I discuss copper-catalyzed alkenes, allenes, and alkynes borofunctionalization and enantioselective cyclization via chiral organocopper intermediate. Copper-catalyzed enantioselective borylative cyclization and regiodivergent functionalization of alkenes, allenes, and alkynes, as well as the current mechanistic understanding of such processes, are given special attention in this review.

Abstract
A copper catalyzed borocarbonylation of BCPs via proximal C-C bond cleavage for the synthesis of γ-boryl-γ,δ-unsaturated carbonyl compounds has been developed. Using substituted benzylidenecyclopropanes (BCPs) and chloroformates as starting material, a broad range of γ-boryl-γ,δ-unsaturated esters were prepared in moderate to excellent yields with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity. Besides, when aliphatic acid chlorides were used in this reaction, γ-boryl-γ,δ-unsaturated ketones could be produced in excellent yields. When substituted BCPs were used as substrates, the borocarbonylation occurred predominantly at the proximal C-C bond trans to the phenyl group in a regio- and stereoselective manner, which leads to the Z-isomers as the products. This efficient methodology involves the cleavage of a C-C bond and the formation of a C-C bond as well as a C-B bond, and provides a new method for the proximal C-C bond difunctionalization of BCPs.

Abstract
A copper catalyzed 1,2-borylacylation of 1,3-enynes with B2pin2 and acid chlorides has been developed. Using readily available 1,3-enynes, B2pin2 and acid chlorides as substrates, a range of highly functionalized α,α-disubstituted β-alkynyl ketones were readily prepared under mild conditions in moderate to good yields. The borylacylated products can be easily derivatized to give several valuable structures. Notably, treatment of the products with NaBO3·4H2O provided 1,2-allenyl ketones, which is proposed to proceed via a retro-aldol process of the corresponding homopropargyl alcohols.

Abstract
The Lewis-acid-promoted addition of prochiral E- and Z-allyl nucleophiles to chiral α-alkoxy N-tosyl imines is described. Alkene geometry is selectively transferred to the newly formed carbon-carbon bond, resulting in stereochemical control of C1, C2, and C3 of the resulting 2-alkoxy-3-N-tosyl-4-alkyl-5-hexene products. A computational analysis to elucidate the high selectivity is also presented. This methodology was employed in the synthesis of two naturally occurring isomers of clausenamide.

Abstract
A visible-light photoredox-catalyzed reductive α-aminomethyl carboxylation of styrenes with sodium glycinates and CO2 has been developed to synthesize a series of α,α-disubstituted γ-amino acids and γ-lactams with high efficiency and regioselectivity. Notably, CO2 released from the decarboxylation step can be reused for the subsequent carboxylation. Distinct from the previous reactions with the same type of substrates leading to simple decarboxylation and olefin hydroalkylation, this process involves additional CO2 sequestration, thus leading to olefin α-aminomethyl carboxylation. These findings not only provide new access to α,α-disubstituted γ-amino acids and γ-lactams but also serve as a proof of concept for CO2 reutilization in decarboxylation reactions.

Abstract
The utilization of the Bpin group as a pronucleophile to facilitate the assembly of cyclic carbamates has been achieved. This one-pot process involves an initial copper-catalyzed borylation, a subsequent C-B bond oxidation to generate the reactive alcohol intermediate, and a cyclization. We report the use of this efficient, scalable, and simple method toward the synthesis of a wide range of benzoxazinone scaffolds, including enantioselective results. Subsequent transformations into useful scaffolds showcase the utility of this strategy.

Abstract
AbstractChiral-auxiliary-mediated synthesis represents the most frequently used synthetic tool for the induction of chirality on α-position of γ-lactams in organic synthesis. However, the general strategy requires the stoichiometric use of chiral reagents with multiple manipulation steps. Transition-metal-catalyzed asymmetric alkene dicarbofunctionalization using readily available substrates under mild conditions allows the simultaneous construction of two vicinal chemical bonds and a chiral carbon center, hence, gain expedient access to chiral heterocycles. Herein, we disclose a Ni-catalyzed enantioselective reaction of 3-butenyl carbamoyl chloride and primary alkyl iodide enabled by a newly designed chiral 8-quinoline imidazoline ligand (8-Quinim). This protocol features broad functional group tolerance and high enantioselectivities, achieving unprecedented synthesis of chiral nonaromatic heterocycles via catalytic reductive protocol.1 Introduction2 Development of 8-Quinim Ligand3 Nickel/8-Quinim-Catalyzed Enantioselective Synthesis of Chiral α-Alkylated γ-Lactam4 Conclusion and Outlook
