Abstract
Catalysts generated in situ by the combination of pyridine-hydrazone N,N-ligands and Pd(TFA)2 have been applied to the addition of arylboronic acids to formylphosphonate-derived hydrazones, yielding α-aryl α-hydrazino phosphonates in excellent enantioselectivities (96 → 99% ee). Subsequent removal of the benzyloxycarbonyl (Cbz) N-protecting group afforded key building blocks en route to appealing artificial peptides, herbicides and antitumoral derivatives. Experimental and computational data support a stereochemical model based on aryl-palladium intermediates in which the phosphono hydrazone coordinates in its Z-configuration, maximizing the interactions between the substrate and the pyridine-hydrazone ligand.

Abstract
Five new nickel(II) complexes have been synthesised with an NNO donor tridentate aroylhydrazone (HFPB) employing the chloride, nitrate, acetate and perchlorate salts, and all the complexes are physiochemically characterized. Elemental analyses suggested stoichiometries as Ni(FPB)(NO3)]·2H2O (1), [Ni(HFPB)(FPB)]Cl (2), [Ni(FPB)(OAc)(DMF)] (3), [Ni(FPB)(ClO4)]·DMF (4), [Ni(FPB)2] (5). Aroylhydrazone is found coordinating in deprotonated iminolate form in four of the complexes (1, 3, 4, 5) however in one case (complex 2), two aroylhydrazone moieties are binding to the metal centre in the neutral and anionic forms. The structure of the bisligated complex 5, found using single crystal X ray diffraction studies confirmed that the metal has a distorted octahedral N4O2 coordination environment, with each of the two deprotonated ligands coordinating through the pyridine nitrogen, imino-hydrazone nitrogen and the enolate oxygen of the hydrazone moiety. To compare and study, the electronic interactions and stabilities of the metal complexes, various quantum chemical parameters were calculated. Moreover, Hirshfeld surface analysis was carried out for complex 5 to determine the intermolecular interactions. The biophysical attributes of the ligand and complex 5 have been investigated with CT-DNA and experimental outcomes show that the Ni(II) complex exhibited higher binding propensity towards DNA as compared to ligand. Furthermore, to specifically understand the type of interactions of the metal complexes with DNA, molecular docking studies were effectuated. In addition, the electronic and related reactivity behaviors of the ligand and five Ni(II) complexes were studied using B3LYP/6-31 + + G**/LANL2DZ level. As expected, the obtained results from Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) computations displayed that the resonance interactions (n → π* and π → π*) play a determinant role in evaluating the chemical attributes of the reported compounds.

Abstract
This study presents an improved synthetic route to ligand (S)-4-(tert-butyl)-2-(5-(trifluoromethyl)pyridin-2-yl)-4,5-dihydrooxazole and its application as a highly active and enantioselective catalyst in the addition of arylboronic acids to cyclic N-sulfonylketimines. Immobilization of such a ligand was achieved using a commercially available starting material and a PS-PEG TentaGel S NH2 support, resulting in a stable heterogeneous catalyst. Although the anchored catalyst exhibited a slight reduction in enantioselectivity and a 4-fold decrease in reaction rate, it displayed remarkable stability, enabling 10 consecutive reaction cycles. Furthermore, the successful transition to a continuous flow system demonstrated even higher turnover numbers compared to batch arrangements. These findings provide valuable insights into the development of efficient flow reactors for continuous synthesis of benzosultams, further advancing the field of asymmetric catalysis.

Abstract
Catalytic enantioselective 1,2-addition reactions of arylboronic acids with 1,2,5-thiadiazoline 1,1-dioxide derivatives were achieved using planar-chiral phosphine-olefin ligand L5 with a bis[(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluoro)phenyl]phosphino group, showing ≤98% ee. The enantioselectivities of the addition products were improved by increasing the number of fluoro substituents on the aromatic ring of the ligand. X-ray crystallographic studies of 3aa and [RhCl/L5]2 revealed the absolute configuration of the enantioenriched addition product 3 and the mode of phosphine-olefin bidentate coordination of L5 to a rhodium(I) cation.

Abstract
A naturally occurring alkaloid aloperine was utilized as a chiral skeleton for the development of new ligands/catalysts in asymmetric synthesis. A number of N-substituted aloperines have been prepared, and a Pd-catalyzed asymmetric hydroarylation of ketimines using these chiral 1,3-diamine ligands was reported. A range of chiral sulfonyl amides were prepared in high yields and enantioselectivities. The stereoselectivity and structure relationships of aloperines have been studied. In addition, preliminary studies on the desymmetrization of meso-anhydride have also shown that these diamines have good potential in organocatalysis. These discoveries would provide a new future development for natural product-inspired chiral ligand design and developments.

Abstract
Tuning diastereoselectivity is a great challenge in asymmetric catalysis for the inherent stereochemical bias of the substrates. Here, we report a diastereodivergent asymmetric Mannich reaction of cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimines with ketones catalyzed by a bispidine-based chiral amine catalyst, in which additional water switches the diastereoselectivity efficiently. Both chiral anti- and syn-benzosultams with potential anti-HIV-1 activity are obtained in excellent yields and good to excellent ee values. Control experiments and density functional theory (DFT) calculations were applied to study the diastereodivergent mechanism, which reveal that the diastereodivergent catalysis should be state-determined, and the water reverses the energies of states to realize the diastereodivergency. The findings are quite new and might inspire more diastereodivergent asymmetric synthesis. A diastereodivergent asymmetric Mannich reaction of cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimines with ketones is realized by employing bispidine-based chiral amine as catalyst and additional water switching the diastereoselectivity.![]()

Abstract
A formal Betti reaction between variously substituted phenols and benzophenone-derived imines to afford α-triphenylmethylamines is reported. The key to the success of this transformation is the in situ generation of the reactive benzophenone iminium species under organocatalytic conditions. Different phenols reacted smoothly, enabling the synthesis of an array of α-triphenylmethylamines, which are highly valued structural motifs in bioactive molecules and chemical sensors.

Abstract
The combination of Pd(TFA)2 and an N,N'-disulfonyl bisimidazoline ligand shows high catalytic activity and excellent asymmetric induction in the addition of arylboronic acids to cyclic N-sulfonyl ketimines including benzo[d]isothiazole-1,1-dioxides, benzo[e][1,2,3]oxathiazine-2,2-dioxides, and 1,2,5-thiadiazole-1,1-dioxides, by which three types of chiral quaternary carbon-containing sultams with substantial substitution diversity were synthesized with high yields and excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee). The current catalysis demonstrated a remarkable tolerance to oxygen and thus provided an operationally simple approach for constructing enantioenriched cyclic quaternary stereocenters.

Abstract
An unprecedented Lewis acidic gold(i)-complex generated from chiral and achiral phosphines has been developed for the Mannich reaction of α-diazocarbonyl compounds and N-sulfonyl cyclic ketimines. A series of chiral β-amino-α-diazoesters bearing a quaternary stereocenter were obtained in high yields with good enantioselectivities. In addition, the products could be converted to promising bioactive spirosuccinimide. Furthermore, operando IR, NMR and control experiments were carried out to gain insight into the mechanism.

Abstract
Abstract
Structures are reported of (E)-((2-((pyridin-2-yl)hydrazonyl)methyl)arene compounds, 2-aryl-CH=N–CH)-pyridine, 8, namely (aryl=2,4-(HO)2C6H3, 8a; 2,5-(HO)2C6H3, 8b, 2–HOC6H4, 8c, as the hemihydrate, [(8c)

However, a diverse array of classical intermolecular hydrogen bonds, X–H···Y (X or Y = O or N) are found in 8a–8e. Classical intermolecular hydrogen bonds in 8a are chain forming N3–HN3···O1 and O2–H2···N1(pyridinyl) intermolecular hydrogen bonds, while in the isomer, 8b, dimer forming N3–HN3···N1(pyridinyl) and chain forming O2–H2···O1(pyridinyl) hydrogen bonds are present. The hydrate molecule in [(8c)

O)] are chain forming N3–HN3···O2 bonds. The only intermolecular classical hydrogen bonds present in 8d and 8e, are the dimer forming N3–HN3···N1(pyridinyl) bonds. Thus only compounds, 8b, 8d and 8e, exhibit dimer forming N3–HN3···N1(pyridinyl) hydrogen bonds, previously reported fora range of (aryl-CH=N–CH)-pyridine derivatives. The occurence of N3–HN3···N1(pyridinyl) hydrogen bonds in many (aryl-CH=N–CH)-pyridine derivatives demonstrates the importance of such hydrogen bonds. However, as found in 8a and [(8c)
