Abstract
An iron-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation of O-acyl oximes with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthoates has been developed. This strategy features the simultaneous activation of both substrates to form two radical intermediates. Subsequent selective C-N radical coupling followed by sequential condensation and 1,3-ester migration affords 1H- or 3H-benzo[g]indoles. In terms of the O-acyl oximes derived from 4-oxocyclohexanone and 4-azacyclohexanone, further ring-opening furnishes 2-(2-hydroxyethyl)- or 2-(2-aminoethyl)-1H-benzo[g]indoles.

Abstract
The development of one-pot, atom, and step-economic new methods avoiding metal, harsh reaction conditions, and toxic reagents for the synthesis of medicinally important hybrid molecules bearing more than one bioactive moieties is currently one of the hot topics in organic synthesis. Herein, we report a green and efficient room temperature multicomponent reaction for the synthesis of novel pyrazole-linked thiazoles involving a one-pot C-C, C-N, and C-S bond-forming process from the reaction of aryl glyoxal, aryl thioamide, and pyrazolones in 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol, a hydrogen bond donating reaction medium. A set of diverse hybrid molecules bearing thiazole and pyrazole moieties were prepared in good to excellent yields by using this method. This methodology can also be extended to prepare thiazole-linked barbiturates as well as imidazole-linked pyrazoles. All the products were fully characterized by spectroscopic techniques. The notable features of this protocol are room temperature, metal as well as additive-free reaction conditions, use of recyclable solvent, water as the byproduct, wide substrate scope, operational simplicity, easy purification, applicability for gram-scale synthesis, high atom economy, and the presence of two bioactive pyrazole and thiazole moieties in the products.

Abstract
A one-pot, efficient oxidative-condensation process for constructing both 4-alkyl and 4-aryl-5-(arylthio) thiazol-2-amines using DMSO/I2 is introduced. In this procedure, methyl ketones, thiourea, DMSO, and thiols are reacted together in the presence of molecular I2 at 80 °C simply to produce 4-alkyl or aryl-5-(arylthio)thiazol-2-amines due to formation of a C-S bond between thiourea and methyl carbon linked to carbonyl group and the another C-S bond formation between thiol and thiazol ring. Under reaction conditions, both aryl and alkyl methyl ketones including acetophenone and substituted acetophenones also, 2-alkanones such as acetone, 2-butanone, 2-pentanone, and 2-heptanone yield those products successfully.

Abstract
An operationally simple and efficient domino etiquette has been developed for the facile construction of 1,2-dithioles employing easily accessible dithioesters as a three-atom CCS synthon and aryl isothiocyanates as a two-atom CS unit in the absence of any catalyst and additive at room temperature under open air. The reaction proceeded efficiently affording the desired 1,2-dithioles in good yields having various functional groups of a diverse electronic and steric nature. This approach avoids possible toxicity and tiresome workup conditions and features easy to handle, cheap, and readily accessible reagents, O2 as a green oxidant, and gram-scale ability. Notably, the final S-S bond formation and cascade ring construction follow a radical pathway, which has been recognized via a radical trapping experiment with BHT during the course of the reaction. Notably, the exocyclic C═N bond at position 3 of 1,2-dithiole possesses Z stereochemistry.

Abstract
Controlling of radical reactivity by binding a radical to the metal center is an elegant strategy to overcome the challenge that radical intermediates are "too reactive to be selective". Yet, its application has seemingly been limited to a few strained-ring substrates, azide compounds, and diazo compounds. Meanwhile, first-row transition-metal-catalyzed (mainly, Fe, Ni, Cu) transformations of oxime esters have been reported recently in which the activation processes are assumed to follow free-radical mechanisms. In this work, we show by means of density functional theory calculations that the activation of oxime esters catalyzed by Fe(II) and Cu(I) catalysts more likely affords a metal-bound iminyl radical, rather than the presumed free iminyl radical, and the whole process follows a metal-bound radical mechanism. The as-formed metal-bound radical intermediates are an Fe(III)-iminyl radical (Stotal = 2, SFe = 5/2, and Siminyl = -1/2) and a Cu(II)-iminyl radical (Stotal = 0, SCu = 1/2, and Siminyl = -1/2). The discovery of such novel substrates affording metal-bound radical intermediates may facilitate the experimental design of metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis using oxime esters to achieve the desired enantioselectivity.

Abstract
Visible-light-mediated additive-free decarboxylative functionalization of acrylic acids has been developed. The reaction uses inexpensive organic dye 9,10-dicyanoanthracene as a photocatalyst and uses the ubiquitous dioxygen as both an oxygen source and an oxidant. Through this mild and environmentally friendly method, a series of important α-thiocyanate ketones can be generated from easily available acrylic acids and ammonium thiocyanate. In addition, the facile transformation of product α-thiocyanate ketones makes this method have great potential for application in organic and pharmaceutical chemistry.

Abstract
Several straightforward and practical processes have been established for the construction of 2-aminothiazoles, 1,3-thiazoles and 1,3-selenazoles from aryliodoazides. These strategies successfully proceed with a wide spectrum of substituted thioamides and its derivatives producing the resulting five-membered heterocycles obtained in satisfactory yields. The unique features of these protocols are operational simplicity and highly functional group tolerance, which make them convenient and practical routes for the preparation of various libraries of 2-aminothiazoles, 1,3-thiazoles, and 1,3-selenazoles.
