Abstract
A simple and practical method for the construction of 1,3,5-trisubstituted imidazolidine derivatives via [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction has been developed. This reaction could smoothly proceed between nonstabilized azomethine ylides generated in situ and 2-benzothiazolamines to deliver a wide scope of differently substituted imidazolidines in high yields (up to 98%). The structure of one example was confirmed by X-ray single-crystal structure analysis.

Abstract
AbstractChiral α-tertiary amines, a motif present in α,α-disubstituted α-amino acids, in a wide range of natural products, and many drugs and drug candidates, are important targets in organic chemistry. Among the possible strategies, 1,2-addition to chiral N-sulfinylketimines is one of the best routes to form chiral α-tertiary amines with a high level of stereoselectivity. In this review, we focus first on the addition of organometallic reagents or other nucleophiles as enols or ylides to chiral N-sulfinylketimines. Abstract
Lewis- and Brønsted-acid catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between azomethine ylides and unsaturated compounds is an important strategy to construct five-membered N-heterocycles. However, such a catalytic route usually demands substrates with an electron-withdrawing group (EWG) to facilitate the reactivity. Herein, we report a TiO2 photocatalysis strategy that can conveniently prepare five-membered N-heterocyclic imidazolidines from a common imine (N-benzylidenebenzylamine) and alcohols along the route of 1,3-dipolaron azomethine ylide but without pre-installed EWG substituents on the substrates. Our EPR results uncovered the previously unknown mutual interdependence between an azomethine ylide and TiO2 photo-induced hvb+/ecb- pair. This transformation exhibited a broad scope with 21 successful examples and could be scaled up to the gram level.

Abstract
Herein we delineate a novel route for the diastereoselective construction of diversely substituted N-heterocyclic ring systems as valuable scaffolds for natural products and pharmaceuticals, starting from an easily accessible prochiral α-phenyl-β-enamino ester. The reaction sequence relies on the unexplored reactivity of α-phenyl-β-enamino ester as a nucleophilic partner in the Mitsunobu reaction to forge the N-tethered alkene-alcohol/thiol/amine intermediate, which was subjected to an intramolecular hetero-Michael addition reaction under mild conditions to furnish the respective N-heterocyclic compounds embedded with an exocyclic chiral center in high yields and excellent diastereoselectivities. The methodology is amenable for a broad range of substrates based on a metal-free approach.

Abstract
The amination of racemic secondary and tertiary allylic trichloroacetimidates possessing β-nitrogen substituents and proximal nitrogen-containing heterocycles, via chiral diene-ligated rhodium-catalyzed dynamic kinetic asymmetric transformations (DYKAT), provides branched allylic 1,2-diamines with high enantioselectivity. The catalytic system can be applied to the synthesis of 1,2-diamines possessing two contiguous stereocenters with excellent diastereoselectivity. Furthermore, the nitrogen-containing heterocycles suppress competing vinyl azirdine formation, allowing for the high enantioselective syntheses of 1,2-diamines possessing tertiary and quaternary centers.

Abstract
We provide a comprehensive account of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of azomethine ylides with carbonyl dipolarophiles. Many different azomethine ylides have been studied, including stabilized and non-stabilized ylides. Of the carbonyl dipolarophiles, aldehydes including formaldehyde are the most studied, although there are now examples of cycloadditions with ketones, ketenes and carboxyl systems, in particular isatoic anhydrides and phthalic anhydrides. Intramolecular cycloadditions with esters can also occur under certain circumstances. The oxazolidine cycloadducts undergo a range of reactions triggered by the ring-opening of the oxazolidine ring system.
