Abstract
A practical strategy for the synthesis of spiro[5.5]trienones-fused selenocyanates and spiro[4.5]trienones-fused selenocyanates through electrophilic selenocyanogen cyclization and dearomative spirocyclization is reported. This approach was conducted under mild conditions with broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. The utility of this procedure is exhibited in the late-stage functionalization of nature product and drug molecules.

Abstract
Gold‐catalyzed transformations of 1,3‐diarylpropargyl alcohols and various aryl nucleophiles were studied. Selective tunable synthetic methods were developed for 1,1,3‐triarylallenes, diaryl‐indenes and tetraaryl‐allyl target products by C3 nucleophilic substitution and subsequent intra‐ or intermolecular hydroarylation, respectively. The reactions were scoped with regards to gold(I)/(III) catalysts, solvent, temperature, and electronic and steric effects of both the diarylpropargyl alcohol and the aryl nucleophiles. High yields of triaryl‐allenes and diaryl‐indenes by gold(III) catalysis were observed. Depending on the choice of aryl nucleophile and control of reaction temperature, different product ratios have been obtained. Alternatively, tetraaryl‐allyl target products were formed by a sequential one‐pot tandem process from appropriate propargyl substrates and two different aryl nucleophiles. Corresponding halo‐arylation products (I and Br; up to 95 % 2‐halo‐diaryl‐indenes) were obtained in a one‐pot manner in the presence of the respective N‐halosuccinimides (NIS, NBS).

Abstract
An efficient approach via catalytic electrophilic thiocarbocyclization of allenes to construct indene-based sulfides with excellent regioselectivities is disclosed. The reactions were carried out at low temperatures by selenide catalysis in the presence of TMSOTf. Not only electrophilic arylthio reagents but also electrophilic alkylthio reagents worked well under these conditions. Furthermore, the method could be applied to intermolecular azidothiolation of allenes.

Abstract
The reaction of propargyl difluorides R1 CF2 C≡CR2 with alkylzincs R3 ZnCl giving axially chiral fluorinated allenes R1 FC=C=CR2 R3 with high enantioselectivity (up to 99 % ee) was found to be catalyzed by a chiral diene/rhodium complex. A key step in the catalytic cycle is selective elimination of one of the enantiotopic fluorides at the β-position of an alkenyl-Rh intermediate, which is generated by regioselective addition of R3 -Rh onto the triple bond of the starting difluorides.

Abstract
We hereby report Ru(ii)-catalyzed C(sp2)-H allenylation of N-tosylbenzamides to access multi-substituted allenylamides. Furthermore, the allenylamides were converted to the corresponding isoquinolone derivatives via base mediated annulation. The current protocol features low catalyst loading, mild reaction conditions, high functional group compatibility and desired scalability. The unique functionality of the afforded allenes allowed further transformations to expand the practicality of the protocol.

Abstract
A palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling between in situ generated allenyl/propargyl-lithium species and aryl bromides to yield highly functionalized allenes is reported. The direct and selective formation of allenic products preventing the corresponding isomeric propargylic product is accomplished by the choice of SPhos or XPhos based Pd catalysts. The methodology avoids the prior transmetalation to other transition metals or reverse approaches that required prefunctionalization of substrates with leaving groups, resulting in a fast and efficient approach for the synthesis of tri- and tetrasubstituted allenes. Experimental and theoretical studies on the mechanism show catalyst control of selectivity in this allene formation.

Abstract
An iodine promoted cascade cycloisomerization of 1-en-6,11-diynes is presented for the easy preparation of tetrahydrobenzo[f]isoquinolines. This developed reaction system is identified as having good functional-group applicability and can be scaled up to gram quantities. In this transformation, two new cyclic frameworks and one carbonyl group are formed with four new bonds constructed. Additionally, the resulting iodo-substituted compounds could be further derived through simple elimination reactions.

Abstract
An expedient visible-light-promoted atom transfer radical cyclization (ATRC) reaction of unactivated alkyl iodides facilitated by earth-abundant and inexpensive manganese catalysis is described. The practical protocol shows a broad substrate scope and good functional-group tolerance, allowing for the preparation of synthetically valuable alkenyl iodides and diquinanes under simple and mild reaction conditions. Notably, the method provides a net redox-neutral strategy for ATRC reactions that avoids classic hydrogen atom transfer mechanism.

Abstract
The photooxygenation of 2-propargylfurans enabled access to original nitrogen-containing cyclopentenones and related compounds in a one-pot fashion. By employing readily-available substrates such as furans and amines, we succeeded in achieving a high degree of molecular complexity. Relying on the introduction of an alkyne moiety and tailored substrates, this transformation reveals a new facet for reaction sequences featuring the photooxygenation of furans.

Abstract
An efficient iodocarbocyclization of alkenes for the synthesis of iodooxindoles has been developed. This reaction proceeds in a chemoselective manner and shows excellent tolerance of various functional groups, including a chemosensitive hydroxymethyl group. Nonmetal inorganic iodine pentoxide was used as both the oxidant and iodine source, making this protocol very practical. On the basis of experimental observations, a plausible electrophilic reaction mechanism was proposed.

Abstract
A metal- and base-free protocol for intramolecular cross-coupling of C(sp2)-H and N-H bonds using N-iodosuccinimide (NIS) has been demonstrated. This environmentally benign approach furnishes a series of substituted indolo[1,2-a]quinazolinones from the suitably fabricated indoles via C-N bond forming cyclization in 28-82% yield. A plausible mechanism is proposed for this cyclization based on the results of a control experiment. This methodology requires no additional metal catalyst, oxidant, or base. Furthermore, the synthetic utility of the protocol is demonstrated by performing a gram scale reaction.
