Abstract
ConspectusControlling selectivity through manipulation of reaction intermediates remains one of the most enduring challenges in organic chemistry, providing novel solutions for selective C-C π-bond functionalization. This approach, guided by activation principles, provides an effective method for selective functional group installation, enabling direct synthesis of organic molecules that are inaccessible through conventional pathways. In particular, the selective functionalization of N-conjugated allenes and alkynes has emerged as a promising research focus, driven by advances in controlling reactive intermediates and activation strategies. In this regard, our group, alongside others, has established some new approaches that have emerged as a suitable platform for the synthesis of functionalized enamides. This Account reviews recent developments in the field, highlighting new modes of reactivity and selectivity, atom-economical functionalizations, and strategies for regio- and stereocontrol, while providing mechanistic insights into related transformations. Our study is systematically organized into two sections based on substrate type and chronological research progression. In the first section, we establish a platform by controlling allenamide-derived intermediates, enabling both allenamide-alkyne (AA) cross-coupling and a few novel electrophile-promoted hydrofunctionalization reactions. The unprecedented selectivity in Pd-catalyzed allenamide-alkyne cross-coupling is achieved through neighboring group chelation, with phosphine ligand selection controlling the reaction outcome. In parallel, the electrophile-promoted functionalizations─including haloalkynylation, hydrooxycarbonylation, hydrodifluoroalkylation, and intermolecular hydroamination─are achieved through strategic selection of electrophiles or their precursors.Additionally, our findings demonstrate how ynamides' reactivity toward both electrophiles and nucleophiles, controlled through activator modulation, expands the scope of accessible transformations. Key findings include: (1) chemoselective [2 + 2 + 2] annulation through efficient trapping of N-arylated nitrilium electrophiles by ynamides, (2) divergent C-H annulation of indole-derived vinylogous ynamides controlled by metal and ligand selection via intramolecular hydroarylation, (3) bromoalkynylation-enabled functional group migration through a novel 1,3-alkynyl shift. The final section explores how N-electron polarization in 1,3-enynes enables new chemoselectivity in metal-free inter- and intramolecular couplings with indole substrates. Our findings demonstrate that modulating N-electron conjugation within the enyne skeleton─through both linear and cross conjugation─can direct activation pathways and control product selectivity. This Account aims to stimulate broader research into the intermediate-controlled functionalization of activated π-systems. Future research directions include advanced activator design, novel functional group migration strategies, and deeper mechanistic studies to enable rational reaction development.

Abstract
Organophosphorus compounds are fundamental for the chemical industry due to their broad applications across multiple sectors, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and materials science. Despite their high importance, the sustainable and cost-effective synthesis of organophoshoryl derivatives remains very challenging. Here, we report the first successful regio- and stereoselective hydrophosphorylation of terminal allenamides using an affordable copper catalyst system. This reaction offers an efficient protocol for the synthesis of (E)-allylic organophosphorus derivatives from various types of P-nucleophiles, such as H-phosphonates, H-phosphinates, and secondary phosphine oxides. Key advantages of this ligand-free and atom-economic strategy include low toxicity of the Cu-based catalyst, cost effectiveness, mild reaction conditions, and experimental simplicity, making it competitive with methods that use toxic and expensive Pd-based catalysts. In an effort to comprehend this process, we conducted extensive DFT calculations on this system to uncover the mechanistic insights of this process.

Abstract
CONTEXT Nickel-catalyzed hydroamination of dienes with phenylmethanamines was studied theoretically to investigate reaction mechanism. These calculated results revealed that Ni-catalyzed hydroamination began with the O - H bond activation of trifluoroethanol, including three important elementary steps: the ligand-to-ligand hydrogen migration, the nucleophilic attack of phenylmethanamine, and hydrogen migration. The nucleophilic attack of phenylmethanamine was the rate-determining step, and the branched product of 3,4-addition with (S)-chirality was the most dominant. The N - H bond activation of phenylmethanamine occurred more difficultly than the O - H bond of trifluoroethanol, because of high ΔG and ΔG≠. In addition, the origin of regioselectivity and enantioselectivity, and prediction of the ligand were also discussed in this text. METHODS All computations were performed with Gaussian09 program. All geometries were optimized at the ωB97XD/6-31G(d,p) level (SDD for Ni), and to obtain more accurate potential energy, single-point calculation was carried out at the ωB97XD/cc-pVDZ level (SDD for Ni). The Cramer-Truhlar continuum solvation model (SMD) was used to evaluate solvation effect of mesitylene, and a correction of the translational entropy was made with the procedure of Whitesides group.

Abstract
Allyl amines are vital components in various biologically important molecules and play a significant role in their function. Presently, most methods are geared toward the preparation of di- and trisubstituted allyl amines, leaving a gap for the development of more versatile approaches. We herein describe an approach to yield tetrasubstituted allyl amines through palladium (Pd)-catalyzed regioselective dicarbofunctionalization of masked N-phthalimide-protected propargyl amines. The cationic Pd-intermediate in conjunction with the masked amine exerts collective control for the reaction regioselectivity. This method accommodates a wide range of alkynes, aryl boronic acids, and aryl diazonium salts offering direct access to a wide range of unusual tetrasubstituted allyl amines.

Abstract
We report a simple protocol for the copper-catalyzed hydrothiolation of N-unsaturated precursors, i.e., allenamides, enamides, and ynamides, under mild conditions. This method proceeds with a low loading of a commercially available Cu(CH3CN)4PF6 catalyst and enables the room-temperature transformation of a wide range of aromatic and aliphatic thiols into allylic or vinylic thioethers, 1,3-dithioethers, and thioaminals with good regio- and stereoselectivity.

Abstract
An unusual iridium dimer 1, [(4-cpbo)Ir(μ-Cl)(μ-O)Ir(4-cpbo)] (4-cpbo = 4-chlorophenylbenzoxazolato-N,C2), was obtained by the oxidative addition of oxygen and reductive elimination of chlorine from a precursor [(4-cpbo)2Ir(μ-Cl)]2. This iridium dimer 1 has a metastable structure with an asymmetric bridge, can spontaneously release metalloradicals and coordinatively unsaturated species in solution at room temperature, and exhibits high catalytic ability for synthetic applications.

Abstract
Intermolecular cross-coupling of terminal olefins with secondary amines to form complex tertiary amines-a common motif in pharmaceuticals-remains a major challenge in chemical synthesis. Basic amine nucleophiles in nondirected, electrophilic metal-catalyzed aminations tend to bind to and thereby inhibit metal catalysts. We reasoned that an autoregulatory mechanism coupling the release of amine nucleophiles with catalyst turnover could enable functionalization without inhibiting metal-mediated heterolytic carbon-hydrogen cleavage. Here, we report a palladium(II)-catalyzed allylic carbon-hydrogen amination cross-coupling using this strategy, featuring 48 cyclic and acyclic secondary amines (10 pharmaceutically relevant cores) and 34 terminal olefins (bearing electrophilic functionality) to furnish 81 tertiary allylic amines, including 12 drug compounds and 10 complex drug derivatives, with excellent regio- and stereoselectivity (>20:1 linear:branched, >20:1 E:Z).

Abstract
A facile iridium/graphene-catalyzed methodology providing an efficient synthetic route for C-N bond formation is reported. This catalyst can directly promote the formation of C-N bonds, without pre-activation steps, and without solvents, alkalis and other additives. This protocol provides a direct N-alkylation of amines using a variety of primary and secondary alcohols with good selectivity and excellent yields. Charmingly, the use of diols resulted in intermolecular cyclization of amines, and such products are privileged structures in biologically active compounds. Two examples illustrate the advantages of this catalyst in organic synthesis: the tandem catalysis to synthesize hydroxyzine, and the intermolecular cyclization to synthesize cyclizine. Water is the only by-product, which makes this catalytic process sustainable and environmentally friendly.

Abstract
An iron-catalyzed C-H functionalization of simple monosubstituted allenes is reported. An efficient protocol for this process was made possible by the use of a newly developed electron-rich and sterically hindered cationic cyclopentadienyliron dicarbonyl complex as the catalyst and N-sulfonyl hemiaminal ether reagents as precursors to iminium ion electrophiles. Under optimized conditions, the use of a mild, functional-group-tolerant base enabled the conversion of a range of monoalkyl allenes to their allenylic sulfonamido 1,1-disubstituted derivatives, a previously unreported and contrasteric regiochemical outcome for the C-H functionalization of electronically unbiased and directing-group-free allenes.

Abstract
Allylamines have long been recognized as valuable synthons because of their excellent reactivity in organic synthesis. Here, an efficient amination reaction of allenyl ethers via copper/Lewis acid synergistic catalysis has been established, providing straightforward access to diverse functionalized Z-oxalylamines and E -halogenated oxalylamines in good to excellent yields with high regio- and stereoselectivities. The developed method tolerates more than 100 examples that include late-stage functionalization of bioactive molecules, and features gram-scale synthesis of oxalylamines with high turnover number (TON > 1000) under mild and simple conditions. The applicability of the protocol is further demonstrated with the construction of drug molecules.

Abstract
This review continues consideration of the regioselectivity problem in the catalyzed hydrofunctionalization of unsaturated organic compounds and addresses hydroamination of unsaturated hydrocarbons. Particular parts of the review deal with reactions of alkenes, alkynes, allenes and dienes. It is shown that the selectivity of hydroamination depends on the natures of the reactants and the catalyst. Conditions of the reactions are described; in some cases, reaction mechanisms are discussed. Reactions for which divergent regioselectivity is possible are noted.

Abstract
The first iridium catalyzed, enantioconvergent amination of allenylic carbonates is reported. This process utilizes various commercially available carbamates and sulfonamides to generate allenylic amines including commonly employed protected groups (Boc, Fmoc, Cbz, Ts, Ns) in 62-82 % yield and 87-98 % ee. The products generated through this scalable procedure serve as effective linchpins for the rapid, enantiospecific synthesis of a wide range of complex structures.

Abstract
We developed an economical and practical protocol for the synthesis of 1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridazines. A diverse range of alkoxyallenes and 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes undergo (4 + 2) cycloaddition to generate the desired products in excellent yields. The high efficiency, wide substrate scope and good functional group tolerance of this process, coupled with operational simplicity, render the method synthetically attractive. The utility of the cycloaddition is also demonstrated by the preparation of various pyridazines from 1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridazines. We developed an economical and practical protocol for the synthesis of 1,4,5,6-tetrahydropyridazines and pyridazines via cyclization of alkoxyallenes and 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes.![]()

Abstract
The use of liquid sulfur dioxide as a reaction solvent to promote chemical transformations of alkynes has been explored. First, a combination of liquid SO2 and In(OTf)3 or Hf(OTf)4 as a catalyst allows to perform hydration of aryl alkynes under mild conditions without a direct addition of Brønsted acid. Second, novel catalyst-free conditions for the synthesis of α-vinyl iodides, bromides, and chlorides from aryl alkynes have been developed in liquid SO2 using group I and II metal halides and ammonium iodide as the halide ion sources.

Abstract
A Cu(i)-catalysed addition and cyclisation sequence has been developed for the synthesis of (E)-alkylidene pyrrolinone derivatives. The reactions incorporate simple α-keto amides and alkynes as substrates, and employ a commercially available Cu(i) catalyst. The process tolerates good variation of both starting materials, and delivers the desired pyrrolinones in good yields, with high levels of stereocontrol.

Abstract
The mechanisms of transition metal-catalyzed methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs)-involved reactions are rather complicated due to the diverse pathways for the activation of MCPs. Herein, computational studies were carried out to investigate the detailed mechanisms of Pd(0)-catalyzed intermolecular and intramolecular hydroamination of MCPs. The initial activation of the three-membered ring of MCPs readily occurs via the insertion of Pd(0) into the distal C-C bond, leading to a metallacyclobutane intermediate. The commonly proposed oxidative addition of amine/amide nucleophile (Nu-H) onto the Pd(0) center to afford a hydrido-Pd(ii) complex, however, is less favorable in comparison with the Pd(0)-mediated cleavage of the distal C-C bond of MCPs. Subsequently, for the Pd(0)-catalyzed intermolecular hydroamination of 1,1-diphenyl MCP with 2-pyrrolidone, it is more favorable for the C1 of the metallacyclobutane intermediate to undergo protonation to yield a π-allylpalladium intermediate, from which the final allylamine product is afforded via reductive elimination. For the Pd(0)-catalyzed intramolecular hydroamination of aniline-tethered MCP, the intramolecular nucleophilic attack of the amine moiety to C3/C4 of the corresponding metallacyclobutane intermediate is preferable to generate a cyclic intermediate. Subsequent proton transfer steps could occur to complete the hydroamination reaction. The different pKa values of the N-H bonds of amide/amine are mainly responsible for the mechanistic difference in the Pd(0)-catalyzed hydroamination of MCPs.

Abstract
Simple ligand-free copper systems were found as efficient catalysts for the addition of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds to N-allenyl derivatives. This highly regio- and stereoselective reaction has been accomplished in the presence of malonates, 1,3-ketoesters, and 1,3-diketones with good to excellent yields under mild conditions. This methodology represents the first allylation of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with allenes catalyzed by copper.
