Abstract
A method for the construction of trifluorinated-5-methylenepyrrolidinone is reported. This strategy combines an acid-catalyzed two-carbon homologation process between ynamides and aldehydes, providing CF3-substituted dienes followed by a metal-free domino hydroamination/isomerization/transamidation sequence, delivering trifluorinated-5-methylenepyrrolidinone stereoselectively.

Abstract
Silanediols bearing naphthyl moieties substituted at 5-position with an electron-withdrawing cyano group and an electron-donating N,N-dimethylamino group, respectively, have been prepared and characterized. The substituents on the naphthyl moieties strongly influence the reactivity, photophysical properties, and sensing abilities for anions. The silanediol bearing 1-(5-N,N-dimethylaminonaphthyl) groups exhibited large Stokes shifts based on intramolecular charge transfer and large quantum yields in organic solvents. The silanediol showed favorable ratiometric fluorescence responses of upon the addition of biologically important anions, AcO- and H2 PO4 - with the association constants of 4.08×104 and 8.76×103 mol-1 dm3 , respectively.

Abstract
A direct and regioselective C-H/P-H cross-coupling of dialkyl phosphites, and diphenylphosphine oxide to easily available BODIPYs through an Ag-mediated radical addition, resulted in a series of new α-phosphorylated BODIPY fluorophores under mild conditions. Hydrolysis of the phosphonate gave the corresponding BODIPY phosphoric acid, which is soluble and fluorescent in water with a high quantum yield of 0.83.

Abstract
A simple and efficient method for the silver-catalyzed regioselective phosphorylation of para-quinone methides (p-QMs) with P(III)-nucleophiles (P(OR)3, ArP(OR)2, Ar2P-OR) has been established via Michaelis-Arbuzov-type reaction. A broad range of P(III)-nucleophiles and para-quinone methides are well tolerated under the mild conditions, giving the expected diarylmethyl-substituted organophosphorus compounds with good to excellent yields. Moreover, a series of corresponding enantiomers can be obtained by employing dialkyl arylphosphonite (ArP(OR)2) as substrates. The control experiments and 31P NMR tracking experiments were also performed to gain insights for the plausible reaction mechanism. This protocol may have significant implications for the formation of C(sp3)-P bonds in Michaelis-Arbuzov-type reactions.

Abstract
AbstractThe effect of chalcogenophosphoryl fragments on the anodic oxidation of 9-chalcogenophosphoryl-9,10-dihydroacridines was studied in detail. The data of X-ray structural analyses, quantum chemical calculations, and cyclic voltammetry measurements obtained for these compounds provide an explanation of the observed features. The direct electrochemical phosphorylation of acridine was first carried out successfully.

Abstract
Formylation of 2,6-dichloro-5-R-nicotinic acids at C-4 followed by condensation with 3-hydroxy-N,N-dimethylaniline gave analogs of the popular TAMRA fluorescent dye with a 2,6-dichloro-5-R-nicotinic acid residues (R=H, F). The following reaction with thioglycolic acid is selective, involves only one chlorine atom at the carbon between pyridine nitrogen and the carboxylic acid group and affords new rhodamine dyes absorbing at 564/ 573 nm and emitting at 584/ 597 nm (R=H/ F, in aq. PBS). Conjugates of the dyes with "small molecules" provided specific labeling (covalent and non-covalent) of organelles as well as of components of the cytoskeleton in living cells and were combined with fluorescent probes prepared from 610CP and SiR dyes and applied in two-color STED microscopy with a 775 nm STED laser.

Abstract
The one-step C-methylenation of anilines and indoles with CO2 and phenylsilane was catalyzed by a pentanuclear ZnII complex to give diarylmethanes via geminal C-H and C-C bond formation. It is proposed that the zinc-hydride complex generated in situ is a catalytically active species and that bis(silyl)acetal is a key intermediate. When aniline was used as a substrate, both the C-methylenation and N-methylation proceeded.

Abstract
Efficient fluorophores with easy synthetic routes and fast responses are of great importance in clinical diagnostics. Herein, we report a new, rigid pentacyclic pyrylium fluorophore, PS-OMe, synthesised in a single step by a modified Vilsmeier-Haack reaction. Insights into the reaction mechanism facilitated a new reaction protocol for the efficient synthesis of PS-OMe which upon demethylation resulted in a "turn-on" pH sensor, PS-OH. This new fluorescent probe has been successfully used to monitor intracellular acidification at physiological pH. From the fluorescence image analysis, we were able to quantify the intracellular dynamic pH change during apoptosis. This new pH probe is a potential chemical tool for screening, drug discovery and dose determination in cancer therapy.

Abstract
1‐Aminopyrenes with three ω‐hydroxylated N‐alkylsulfonamido or alkylsulfonyl residues in positions 3, 6, and 8 were prepared, O‐phosphorylated, and applied for reductive amination of oligosaccharides. The dyes (ϵ≈20 000 m−1 cm−1) with six negative charges (pH≥8) and low m/z ratios enable labeling and fluorescence detection of reducing sugars (glycans) related to the most structurally and functionally diverse class of natural products. Under excitation with a 488 nm laser, the new glycoconjugates emit yellow light of about 560 nm, outperforming (with respect to brightness and faster electrophoretic mobilities) the corresponding APTS derivatives (benchmark dye with green emission in conjugates).

Abstract
Novel 10π-electron cyclic amidines with excellent fluorescence properties were synthesized by a general and efficient 6π-electrocyclic ring closure of ketenimine and imine starting from N-sulfonyl triazoles and arylamines. The photophysical properties of cyclic amidine fluorophores have been studied in detail and have shown good properties of a large Stokes shift, pH insensitivity, low cytotoxicity and higher photostability, which have great potential for biological imaging. Furthermore, this novel fluorophore was successfully applied to the localization of the NK-1 receptor in living systems. Novel 10π-electron cyclic amidines with excellent fluorescence properties were synthesized by a general and efficient 6π-electrocyclic ring closure of ketenimine and imine starting from N-sulfonyl triazoles and arylamines.![]()

Abstract
Rationally designed cationic phospha-polyaromatic fluorophores were prepared through intramolecular cyclization of the tertiary ortho-(acene)phenylene-phosphines mediated by CuII triflate. As a result of phosphorus quaternization, heterocyclic phosphonium salts 1 c-3 c, derived from naphthalene, phenanthrene, and anthracene cores, exhibited very intense blue to green fluorescence (Φem =0.38-0.99) and high photostability in aqueous medium. The structure-emission relationship was further investigated by tailoring the electron-donating functions to the anthracene moiety to give dyes 4 c-6 c with charge-transfer character. The latter significantly decreases the emission energy to reach near-IR region. Thus, the intramolecular phosphacyclization renders an ultra-wide tuning of fluorescence from 420 nm (1 c) to 780 nm (6 c) in solution, extended to 825 nm for 6 c in the solid state with quantum efficiency of approximately 0.07. The physical behavior of these new dyes was studied spectroscopically, crystallographically, and electrochemically, whereas computational analysis was used to correlate the experimental data with molecular electronic structures. The excellent stability, water solubility, and attractive photophysical characteristics make these phosphonium heterocycles powerful tools in cell imaging.
