Abstract
This study presents the development of a radical enantioselective alkene oxysulfonylation approach for the synthesis of enantioenriched sulfonyl phthalides via a catalyst system consisting of a copper salt and an OPPA ligand. The reaction proceeded under mild conditions with a wide range of substrates, good yields, and excellent enantioselectivities. Mechanistic studies suggested that the reaction proceeded through a radical-mediated process. Scalable synthesis and transformation experiments also demonstrated the applicable potential of this method.

Abstract
Here, we report the preparation of lactones via Ni-catalyzed alkene hydroxylarylation and sequential intramolecular lactonization with O2 as a green oxidant and oxygen source. The bulky 1,3-diketone ligand is crucial by enabling Ni-catalyzed hydroxylarylation of alkenes, providing numerous phthalide and furanone derivatives with high efficiency under mild conditions. The synthetic value of this methodology was further demonstrated by the efficient synthesis of typhaphthalide and a monoamine oxidase B inhibitor.

Abstract
We report here a highly straightforward access to a variety of CHF2-containing heterocycles, including lactones, tetrahydrofurans, tetrahydropyrans, benzolactones, phthalanes, and pyrrolidines, through a visible light-mediated intramolecular oxy-difluoromethylation under continuous flow. The method, which relies on the use of readily available starting materials, low-cost 3D printed photoflow reactors, and difluoromethyltriphenylphosphonium bromide used here as a CHF2 radical precursor, is practical and scalable and provides the desired products in moderate to excellent yields and excellent regio- and stereoselectivities.

Abstract
The selective functionalization of C(sp3)-H bonds has emerged as a transformative approach for streamlining synthetic routes, offering remarkable efficiency in the preparation and modification of complex organic molecules. However, the direct enantioselective transformation of hydrocarbons to medicinally valuable chiral molecules remains a significant challenge that has yet to be addressed. In this study, we adopt an atom transfer radical coupling (ATRC) strategy to achieve the asymmetric functionalization of C(sp3)-H bonds in hydrocarbons. This approach involves intermolecular H atom transfer (HAT) between a hydrocarbon and an alkoxy radical, leading to the formation of a carbon-centered radical. The resulting radical adds to alkenes, generating a new radical species that is intercepted by a chiral copper-mediated C-O bond coupling. By employing this method, we can directly access valuable chiral lactones bearing a quaternary stereocenter with high efficiency and excellent enantioselectivity. Importantly, ATRC exhibits great potential as a versatile platform for achieving stereoselective transformations of hydrocarbons.

Abstract
We report the difunctionalization of unactivated, terminal olefins through intermolecular addition of α-bromoketones, -esters, and -nitriles followed by formation of 4- to 6-membered heterocycles with pendant nucleophiles. The reaction can be conducted with alcohols, acids, and sulfonamides as nucleophiles furnishing products bearing 1,4 functional group relationships that offer various handles for further manipulation. Salient features of the transformations are the use of 0.5 mol% of a benzothiazinoquinoxaline organophotoredox catalyst and their robustness with respect to air and moisture. Mechanistic investigations are carried out and a catalytic cycle for the reaction is proposed.

Abstract
An inexpensive iron-catalyzed alkoxyl radical-induced C-C bond cleavage/gem-difluoroalkylation cascade is presented. Regulated by the structure of alkoxyl radical precursors, fluorinated distal diketones were synthesized through a ring-opening strategy and difluoroalkylated medium-sized lactones and macrolactones were constructed via a ring-expansion strategy. Both protocols proceeded under mild and redox neutral conditions with a broad substrate scope and good functional group compatibility.

Abstract
Installation of fluorine into pharmaceutically relevant molecules plays a vital role in their properties of biology or medicinal chemistry. Direct difunctionalization of alkenes and 1,3-dienes to achieve fluorinated compounds through transition-metal catalysis is challenging, due to the facile β-H elimination from the Csp3‒[M] intermediate. Here we report a cobalt-catalyzed regioselective difluoroalkylarylation of both activated and unactivated alkenes with solid arylzinc pivalates and difluoroalkyl bromides through a cascade Csp3‒Csp3/Csp3‒Csp2 bond formation under mild reaction conditions. Indeed, a wide range of functional groups on difluoroalkyl bromides, olefins, 1,3-dienes as well as (hetero)arylzinc pivalates are well tolerated by the cobalt-catalyst, thus furnishing three-component coupling products in good yields and with high regio- and diastereoselectivity. Kinetic experiments comparing arylzinc pivalates and conventional arylzinc halides highlight the unique reactivity of these organozinc pivalates. Mechanistic studies strongly support that the reaction involves direct halogen atom abstraction via single electron transfer to difluoroalkyl bromides from the in situ formed cobalt(I) species, thus realizing a Co(I)/Co(II)/Co(III) catalytic cycle.

Abstract
Iron-catalyzed alkylative cyclization of alkenes bearing oxygen nucleophiles with secondary and tertiary alkyl bromides through carbon-carbon and carbon-oxygen bond formations has been developed. A broad substrate scope is an attractive feature of this synthetic method, providing a variety of potentially bioactive five- and six-membered oxygen-containing heterocycles. The reaction pathway is proposed to involve a radical addition of the in situ-formed alkyl radical to an alkene followed by carbon-oxygen bond-forming intramolecular cyclization.

Abstract
The oxidative coupling of alkyltrifluoroborates with heteroatom-tethered vinylarenes leads to a broad range of saturated oxygen and nitrogen heterocycles.
Saturated heterocycles are important components of many bioactive compounds. The method disclosed herein enables a general route to a range of 5-, 6- and 7-membered oxygen and nitrogen heterocycles by coupling potassium alkyltrifluoroborates with heteroatom-tethered alkenes, predominantly styrenes, under copper-catalyzed conditions, in the presence of MnO2. The method was applied to the synthesis of the core of the anti-depressant drug citalopram. The reaction scope and observed reactivity is consistent with a polar/radical mechanism involving intermolecular addition of the alkyl radical to the alkene followed by [Cu(iii)]-facilitated C–O (or C–N) bond forming reductive elimination.

Abstract
Herein, a practical Cu-catalyzed selenodifluoromethylation protocol was developed, using readily available diselenides as the selenium source under external-oxidant-free conditions. Various structurally diverse 4-seleno-substituted α,α-difluoro-γ-lactams were obtained in moderate to excellent yields. Easy scaleup and the potential for product derivatization make this method attractive for the preparation of other valuable fIuorinated γ-lactams. Mechanistic studies suggest that the catalytic system may involve a radical pathway.
