Abstract
We developed a protocol for the synthesis of functionalized pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinoline derivatives (PIQDs) 3 from enaminones 1 using vinylene carbonate 2. This strategy involved [3 + 2] and [4 + 2] cycloadditions via heating a mixture of substrates 1 with vinylene carbonate 2 and DCE at 60 °C, catalyzed by [Cp*RhCl2]2 and oxidized with Cu(OAc)2 and AgSbF6 promoted by NaOAc. As we increased the reaction temperature to 110 °C under the same conditions, we synthesized PIQDs 4 through sequential C-H activation, alkene insertion, migratory insertion, C-N reductive elimination, β-O elimination, and finally dehydration. As a result, a series of PIQDs 3-4 were generated by forming four bonds (2 C-C and 2 C-N bonds) in a single step. This strategy realizes the synthesis of linear molecules with potential biological activity, specifically natural-like heterocycles (3-4). It expands the application of vinylene carbonate as a C2 synthon in the construction of pyrrole and isoquinoline skeletons for the synthesis of functionalized PIQDs in combinatorial and parallel syntheses via one-pot reactions.

Abstract
A photocatalytic chemodivergent reaction for the selectivity formation of C-S and C-N bonds in a controlled manner was proposed. The reaction medium, either neutral or acidic, is critical to dictate the formation of 2-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazoles and 1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones from isothiocyanates and hydrazones. This is a practical protocol to achieve the chemoselectivity under mild and metal-free conditions.

Abstract
A cascade oxidative annulation reaction of heterocyclic ketene aminals (HKAs) with internal alkynes catalyzed by [Cp*RhCl2]2 and oxidized by Cu(OAc)2·H2O was developed to efficiently synthesize highly functionalized benzo[de]chromene derivatives in good to excellent yields. The reaction proceeded by the sequential cleavage of C(sp2)-H/O-H and C(sp2)-H/C(sp2)-H bonds. These multicomponent cascade reactions were highly regioselective. In addition, all of the benzo[de]chromene products exhibited intense fluorescence emission in the solid state, and they demonstrated concentration-dependent quenching in the presence of Fe3+, indicating that these compounds could be used in the recognition of Fe3+.

Abstract
Rhodium(III)-catalyzed triple C-H bond activation of aryl enaminones was achieved to access naphtho[1,8-bc]pyrans by oxidative annulation to internal alkynes. 1-Naphthols might be formed as the only products, depending on the steric and/or electronic environment around the aroyl moiety of the aryl enaminones or the electronic impact from the alkynes. With propargyl alcohols as the masked terminal alkynes, aryl enaminones underwent rhodium(III)- or rhodium(I)-catalyzed internal alkenyl C-H bond activation to afford functionalized but-2-ene-1,4-diones. The resultant naphtho[1,8-bc]pyrans are highly fluorescent and can be further transformed by chlorination, bromination, and difluoromethylation, demonstrating potential practicability of the synthetic protocol.

Abstract
Transition-metal catalyzed directing group (DG) assisted annulation of inert C-H bonds leads to the formation of complex molecular frameworks from readily accessible substrates. Thus, multiple annulation of less functionalized substrates with unsaturated species leads to the construction of structurally diverse fused poly(hetero)cycles. The directed inert C(arene)-H bond activation and the mode of TM-migration in this process could enabled obatining L-type [involves DG heteroatom, o-C(arene)-H bond, and C(arene)-H bond of aryl-motif in alkyne], Y-type [involves two heteroatoms of the DG and o-,o'-C(arene)-H bonds], and B-type [involves o-C(arene)-H bond and m-C(arene)-H bond] π-extended annulation products. The coordination preference of the DG heteroatom makes the transformation chemo- and regio-selective. This article underlines the conceptual development of unsymmetrical multiple annulation of arene C(sp2)-H bonds with alkynes, which is exceedingly appealing and highly important.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed silylcyanation of ynamides is described. This reaction is fully regioselective, delivering tetrasubstituted 2-aminoacrylonitriles derivatives exclusively. Unexpectedly, the nature (aryl or alkyl) of the substituent located at the β-position of the ynamide directly controls the stereoselectivity. The reaction tolerates a number of functional groups and can be considered as the first general access to fully substituted 2-aminoacrylonitriles. Given the singular reactivity observed, a computational study was performed to shed light on the mechanism of this intriguing transformation. Relying on the specific reactivity of the newly installed vinylsilane functionality, the scope of 2-aminoacrylonitriles has been enlarged by postfunctionalization.

Abstract
A novel protocol for the preparation of functionalized 9-azabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (ABCN) derivatives from 3-formylchromones, enaminones, and heterocyclic ketene aminals (HKAs) through an unprecedented cascade reaction has been developed by simply refluxing the mixture of the substrates 1-3. As a result, a series of ABCNs were produced through a very complex cascade reaction. This protocol can be used in the synthesis of ABCNs that are suitable for combinatorial and parallel syntheses of ABCN natural-like products in a one-pot reaction.

Abstract
5,11-Diazadibenzo[hi,qr]tetracene was synthesized as a new nitrogen-substituted polycyclic heteroaromatic compound by Pd-catalyzed cycloisomerization of an alkyne precursor followed by oxidative cyclization with bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodobenzene. The substitution of imine-type nitrogen atoms significantly enhanced its electron-accepting character and facilitated the direct nucleophilic addition of arylamines under strongly basic conditions to afford the desired amino-substituted products. The introduction of amino groups induced a remarkable red-shift in their absorption spectra; the tetrasubstituted product exhibited intense near-infrared absorbing property. Furthermore, the π-electronic system, which includes a redox-active 1,4-diazabutadiene moiety, underwent reversible interconversion to its corresponding reduced form upon reduction with NaBH4 and aerobic oxidation.

Abstract
Polysubstituted 3-sulfonyl naphthalenes were constructed in good to high yields by AlCl3-mediated tandem reaction of 1,4-diyn-3-yl esters and sodium sulfinates. This reaction proceeded under mild reaction conditions and tolerated a variety of functional groups. Moreover, the mechanistic studies indicated that the initial formation of allene under DBU from 1,4-diyn-3-yl ester and a sequence of nucleophilic addition of sodium sulfinate, the formation of allene, and intramolecular cyclization might be involved.

Abstract
A Rh(iii)-catalyzed cascade C-H activation/intramolecular cyclization of 3-aryl-5-isoxazolones with cyclic 2-diazo-1,3-diketones was described, leading to the formation of isoxazolo[2,3-f]phenanthridine skeletons. The protocol features the simultaneous one-pot formation of two new C-C/C-N bonds and one heterocycle in moderate-to-good yields with good functional group compatibility. It is amenable to large-scale synthesis and further transformation.

Abstract
An efficient and practical one-pot strategy to produce highly substituted 1-naphthylamines via sequential palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative amination/intramolecular 6-endo-dig benzannulation reactions has been described. In this reaction, a broad range of electron-rich, electron-neutral, and electron-deficient o-alkynylarylketones react well with N-hydroxyl aryl/alkylamides to give a diversity of 1-naphthylamines in good to excellent yields under mild reaction conditions. The gram-scale synthesis, with benefits such as undiminished product yield and easy transformation, illustrated the practicality of this method.

Abstract
An efficient and practical Rh(III)-catalyzed redox-neutral [4 + 1] annulation of N-phenoxy amides with α, α-difluoromethylene alkynes has been realized to give direct access to the Z-configured monofluoroalkenyl dihydrobenzo[ d]isoxazole framework with broad substrate compatibility and good functional group tolerance, which was further enhanced by the late-stage C-H modification of complex bioactive compounds. Subsequent density functional theory calculations revealed that the stereoselective β-F elimination involving an allene species played a decisive role in determining the reaction outcome and such Z-selectivity.

Abstract
An efficient [2 + 2 + 2] benzannulation of phthalic acids/anhydrides with two alkynes was developed for synthesis of multisubstituted 1-naphthoic acids via Ru-catalyzed C-H activation. The reaction preceded well using atmospheric oxygen as the sole oxidant with high atom/step economies. Facilitated by the free carboxyl group, the products can be easily converted to diverse polycyclic molecules.
