Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are promising adsorbents for extraction, but their selectivity for molecular recognition remains a challenging issue due to the very limited structural design with rigid structure. Herein, we report an elegant strategy for the design and synthesis of molecularly imprinted flexible COFs (MI-FCOFs) via one-pot reaction between the flexible building block of 2,4,6-tris(4-formylphenoxy)- 1,3,5-triazine and linear 4-phenylenediamine for selective extraction of aflatoxins. The flexible chain structure enabled the developed MI-FCOF to adjust the shape and conformation of frameworks to suit the template molecule, giving high selectivity for aflatoxins recognition. Moreover, MI-FCOF with abundant imprinted sites and function groups exhibited an exceptional adsorption capacity of 258.4 mg g-1 for dummy template which is 3 times that of no-imprinted FCOF (NI-FCOF). Coupling MI-FCOF based solid-phase extraction with high-performance liquid chromatography gave low detection limits of 0.003-0.09 ng mL-1 and good precision with relative standard deviations ≤ 6.7% for the determination of aflatoxins. Recoveries for the spiked rice, corn, wheat and peanut samples were in the range of 85.4%- 105.4%. The high selectivity of the developed MI-FCOF allows matrix-free determination of AFTs in food samples. This work offers a new way to the design of MI-FCOF for selective molecular recognition.

Abstract
Grapefruit (Citrus × paradisi Macf.) peel, a by-product of the citrus-processing industry, possesses an important economic value due to the richness of bioactive compounds. In this study, boron-linked covalent organic frameworks integrated with molecularly imprinted polymers (CMIPs) were developed via a facile one-pot bulk polymerization approach for the selective extraction of naringenin from grapefruit peel extract. The obtained CMIPs possessed a three-dimensional network structure with uniform pore size distribution, large surface areas (476 m2/g), and high crystallinity. Benefiting from the hybrid functional monomer APTES-MAA, the acylamino group can coordinate with the boronate ligands of the boroxine-based framework to form B-N bands, facilitating the integration of imprinted cavities with the aromatic skeleton. The composite materials exhibited a high adsorption capacity of 153.65 mg/g, and a short adsorption equilibrium time of 30 min for naringenin, together with favorable selectivity towards other flavonoid analogues. Additionally, the CMIPs captured the template molecules through π-π* interaction and hydrogen bonding, as verified by FT-IR and XPS. Furthermore, they had good performance when employed to enrich naringenin in grapefruit peels extract compared with the common adsorbent materials including AB-8, D101, cationic exchange resin, and active carbon. This research highlights the potential of CMIPs composite materials as a promising alternative adsorbent for naringenin extraction from grapefruit peel.

Abstract
Mycotoxins are toxic metabolites of molds which can contaminate food and beverages. Because of their acute and chronic toxicity, they can have harmful effects when ingested or inhaled, posing severe risks to human health. Contemporary analytical methods have the sensitivity required for contamination detection and quantification, but the direct application of these methods on real samples is not straightforward because of matrix complexity, and clean-up and preconcentration steps are needed, more and more requiring the application of highly selective solid-phase extraction materials. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are artificial receptors mimicking the natural antibodies that are increasingly being used as a solid phase in extraction methods where selectivity towards target analytes is mandatory. In this review, the state-of-the-art about molecularly imprinted polymers as solid-phase extraction materials in mycotoxin contamination analysis will be discussed, with particular attention paid to the use of mimic molecules in the synthesis of mycotoxin-imprinted materials, to the application of these materials to food real samples, and to the development of advanced extraction methods involving molecular imprinting technology.

Abstract
Trace amounts of mycotoxins in food matrices have caused a very serious problem of food safety and have attracted widespread attention. Developing accurate, sensitive, rapid mycotoxin detection and control strategies adapted to the complex matrices of food is crucial for in safeguarding public health. With the continuous development of nanotechnology and materials science, various nanoscale materials have been developed for the purification of complex food matrices or for providing response signals to achieve the accurate and rapid detection of various mycotoxins in food products. This article reviews and summarizes recent research (from 2018 to 2023) on new strategies and methods for the accurate or rapid detection of mold toxins in food samples using nanoscale materials. It places particular emphasis on outlining the characteristics of various nanoscale or nanostructural materials and their roles in the process of detecting mycotoxins. The aim of this paper is to promote the in-depth research and application of various nanoscale or structured materials and to provide guidance and reference for the development of strategies for the detection and control of mycotoxin contamination in complex matrices of food.

Abstract
A thermal-sensitive molecularly imprinted optosensing probe based on fluorescent advanced glycation end products (AGEs) was prepared by one-pot hydrothermal synthesis. Carbon dots (CDs) derived from fluorescent AGEs were used as the luminous centers, while molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were wrapped outside of the CDs to form specific target recognition sites to highly selectively adsorb the intermediate product of AGEs of 3-deoxyglucosone (3-DG). Thermosensitive N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAM) was combined with acrylamide (AM) as co-functional monomers, and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) was chosen as a cross-linker for targeting identification and detection of 3-DG. Under optimal conditions, the fluorescence of MIPs could be gradually quenched with the adsorption of 3-DG on the surface of MIPs in the linear range of 1-160 μg/L, and the detection limit was 0.31 μg/L. The spiked recoveries of MIPs ranged from 82.97 to 109.94% in two milk samples, and the relative standard deviations were all less than 1.8%. In addition, the inhibition rate for non-fluorescent AGEs of pyrraline (PRL) was 23% by adsorbing 3-DG in the simulated milk system of casein and D-glucose, indicating that temperature-responsive MIPs not only could detect the dicarbonyl compound 3-DG quickly and sensitively, but also had an excellent inhibitory effect on AGEs.

Abstract
As a novel optical responsive material, photonic crystal is a promising sensing material in the recognition and detection of small molecules. Herein, a label-free composite sensor for aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) based on aptamer-functionalized photonic crystal arrays was successfully developed. Three-dimensional photonic crystals (3D PhCs) with a controllable number of layers were produced by a layer-by-layer (LBL) approach, and the introduction of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) facilitated the immobilization procedure of recognition element aptamers, thus creating the AFB1 sensing detection system (AFB1-Apt 3D PhCs). The sensing system AFB1-Apt 3D PhCs exhibited a good linearity in the wide range of 1 pg mL-1-100 ng mL-1 AFB1 with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.28 pg mL-1. Furthermore AFB1-Apt 3D PhC was successfully applied in the determination of AFB1 in the millet and beer samples with good recovery. The sensing system performed ultrasensitive and label-free detection to the target, which could be further applied in the fields of food safety, clinical diagnosis or environmental monitoring, establishing an efficient and rapid universal detection platform.

Abstract
Mycotoxins are naturally occurring toxic secondary metabolites produced by fungi in cereals and foodstuffs during the stages of cultivation and storage. Electrochemical biosensing has emerged as a rapid, efficient, and economical approach for the detection and quantification of mycotoxins in different sample media. An electrochemical biosensor consists of two main units, a recognition receptor and a signal transducer. Natural or artificial antibodies, aptamers, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP), peptides, and DNAzymes have been extensively employed as selective recognition receptors for the electrochemical biosensing of mycotoxins. This article affords a detailed discussion of the recent advances and future prospects of various types of recognition receptors exploited in the electrochemical biosensing of mycotoxins.

Abstract
Development of selective enrichment materials for the accurate analysis of ochratoxin a (OTA) in environmental and food samples is an effective way to protect human health. Here, a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) known as plastic antibody was synthesized onto the magnetic inverse opal photonic crystal microsphere (MIPCM) using a low-cost dummy template imprinting strategy targeting OTA. The MIP@MIPCM exhibited ultrahigh selectivity with an imprinting factor of 130, high specificity with cross-reactivity factors of 3.3-10.5, and large adsorption capacity of 60.5 μg/mg. Such MIP@MIPCM was used for selective capture of OTA in real samples which was quantified in combination with high-performance liquid chromatography, giving a wide linear detection range of 5-20,000 ng/mL, a detection limit of 0.675 ng/mL, and good recovery rates of 84-116%. Moreover, the MIP@MIPCM can be produced simply and rapidly and is very stable under different environmental conditions and easy to store and transport, so it is an ideal substitute of biological antibody modified materials for the selective enrichment of OTA in real samples.

Abstract
Chemical contaminants in food generally include natural toxins (mycotoxins, animal toxins, and phytotoxins), pesticides, veterinary drugs, environmental pollutants, heavy metals, and illegal additives. Developing a low-cost, simple, and rapid detection technology for harmful substances in food is urgently needed. Analytical methods based on different advanced materials have been developed into rapid detection methods for food samples. In particular, photonic crystal (PC) materials have a unique surface periodic structure, structural color, a large surface area, easy integration with photoelectronic and magnetic devices which have great advantages in the development of rapid, low-cost, and highly sensitive analytical methods. This review focuses on the PC materials in the view of their fabrication processes, functionalized recognition components for the specific recognition of hazardous substances, and applications in the separation, enrichment, and detection of chemical hazards in real samples. Suspension array based on three-dimensional PC microspheres by droplet-based microfluidic assembly is a great promising and powerful platform for food safety detection fields. For the PCs selective analysis, biological antibodies, aptamers, and molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) could be modified for specific recognition of target substances, particularly MIPs because of their low-cost and easy mass production. Based on these functional PCs, various toxic and hazardous substances can be selectively enriched or recognized in real samples and further quantified in combination of liquid chromatography method or optical detection methods including fluorescence, chemiluminescence, and Raman spectroscopy.
