Abstract
The development of adsorbents with robust molecular discrimination capabilities for halogenated organic compounds (HOCs) holds significant importance due to their potential in adsorptive separation and mitigation of associated health risks. In this study, we report a molecular discrimination behavior based on crystalline hybrid macrocyclic arene H, offering precise capture of cis-trans isomers and length-selective separation of HOCs. The activated H crystals (Hα) demonstrate exceptional discrimination and separation performance by selectively capturing trans-1,2-dichloroethylene (trans-DCE) from cis/trans-isomer mixtures with a high selectivity of 98.8%. Evidenced by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, this high adsorption selectivity arises from the formation of more stable complex crystals between H and the preferred guest trans-DCE. Moreover, Hα exhibits the ability to selectively trap size-matched 1,2-dibromoethane (DBE) from mixtures of alkylene dibromides with varying alkane-chain lengths, although their capture and separation are recognized to be difficult as a consequence of low-polarity bonds. The solid-state transformations between guest-free and guest-containing Hα crystals indicate their recyclability, showcasing promising prospects for potential applications.

Abstract
With the boom of modern industry, the demand for precious metals palladium (Pd) and gold (Au) is increasing. However, the discharge of Pd(II) and Au(III) wastewater has caused environmental pollution and shortage of resources. Here, a new metal-organic frameworks adsorbent (MOF-AFH) was synthesized to efficiently separate Pd(II) and Au(III) from the water. The adsorption behavior of Pd(II) and Au(III) was explored at the same time. When gold and palladium are adsorbed separately, the adsorption capacity of gold and palladium is 389.02 mg/g and 191.27 mg/g, respectively. The equilibration time is 3 h. When gold and palladium coexist, the adsorption capacities of Au(III) and Pd(II) are 238.71 and 115.02 mg/g, respectively. The experimental results show that the adsorption of Pd(II) and Au(III) on MOF-AFH is a single-layer chemical adsorption, which is an endothermic process. MOF-AFH has excellent selectivity and after MOF-AFH is repeatedly used 4 times, the removal effect can still reach more than 90%. The adsorption mechanisms include reduction reaction and chelation with N and O-containing functional groups on the adsorbent. There is also electrostatic interaction for Au(III) adsorption. The adsorbent can be used to efficiently recover gold and palladium from wastewater.

Abstract
A series of metal-azolate frameworks or MAFs-MAF-4, -5, and -6-were synthesized and pyrolyzed to prepare porous carbons derived from MAFs (CDM-4, -5, -6, respectively). Not only the obtained carbons but also MAFs were characterized and applied for the adsorption of organic contaminants of emerging concern (CECs, including pharmaceuticals and personal care products) such as salicylic acid, clofibric acid, diclofenac sodium, bisphenol-A, and oxybenzone (OXB) from water. CDM-6 was found to be the most remarkable adsorbent among the tested ones (including activated carbon) for all the adsorbates. OXB was taken as a representative adsorbate for detailed adsorption studies as well as understanding the adsorption mechanism. H-bonding (H-acceptor: CDM; H-donor: CECs) was suggested as the principal mechanism for the adsorption of tested adsorbates. Finally, CDMs, especially CDM-6, were suggested as highly efficient and easily recyclable adsorbents for water purification.

Abstract
A versatile method for the post-synthetic removal of primary amino groups from metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) has been developed. The method allowed the first successful synthesis of the missing parent compound of an important family of MOFs - the unsubstituted (Al)MIL-101. The material was shown to be a useful reference compound for the elucidation of the role of amino groups in the adsorption and deactivation of olefin metathesis catalysts. The chemoselectivity of the deamination is sufficient for the selective removal of NH2 substituents from mixed-linker MOFs bearing both NH2 and RCONH groups.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with Fe content are gradually developing into an independent branch in environmental remediation, requiring economical, effective, low-toxicity strategies to the complete procedure. In this review, recent advancements in the structure, synthesis, and environmental application focusing on the mechanism are presented. The unique structure of novel design proposed specific characteristics of different iron-containing MOFs with potential innovation. Synthesis of typical MILs, NH2-MILs and MILs based materials reveal the basis and defect of the current method, indicating the optimal means for the actual requirements. The adsorption of various contamination with multiple interaction as well as the catalytic degradation over radicals or electron-hole pairs are reviewed. This review implied considerable prospects of iron-containing MOFs in the field of environment and a more comprehensive cognition into the challenges and potential improvement.

Abstract
A highly porous metal-organic framework (MOF), MIL-101, was modified to introduce urea or melamine via grafting on open metal sites of the MOF. Adsorptive removal of three artificial sweeteners (ASWs) was studied using the MOFs, with or without modifications (including nitration), and activated carbon (AC). The adsorbed quantities (based on the weight of the adsorbent) of saccharin (SAC) under various conditions decreased in the order urea-MIL-101 > melamine-MIL-101 > MIL-101 > AC > O2N-MIL-101; however, the quantities based on unit surface area are in the order melamine-MIL-101 > urea-MIL-101 > MIL-101 > O2N-MIL-101. Similar ASWs [acesulfame (ACE) and cyclamate (CYC)] showed the same tendency. The mechanism for very favorable adsorption of SAC, ACE, and CYC over urea- and melamine-MIL-101 could be explained by H-bonding on the basis of the contents of -NH2 groups on the MOFs and the adsorption results under a wide range of pH values. Moreover, the direction of H-bonding could be clearly defined (H acceptor: ASWs; H donor: MOFs). Urea-MIL-101 and melamine-MIL-101 could be suggested as competitive adsorbents for organic contaminants (such as ASWs) with electronegative atoms, considering their high adsorption capacity (for example, urea-MIL-101 had 2.3 times the SAC adsorption of AC) and ready regeneration.

Abstract
The metal-organic framework (MOF) UiO-66 was synthesized in one step from zirconium chloride and isophthalic acid (IPA), together with the usual link material, terephthalic acid (TPA). UiO-66 with free -COOH can be obtained in a facile way by replacing up to 30% of the TPA with IPA. However, the chemical and thermal stability of the synthesized MOFs decreased with increasing IPA content used in the syntheses, suggesting an increase in the population of imperfect bonds in the MOFs because of the asymmetrical structure of IPA. The obtained MOFs with free -COOH were applied in liquid-phase adsorptions from both water and model fuel to not only estimate the potential applications but also confirm the presence of -COOH in the MOFs. The adsorbed amounts of several organics (triclosan and oxybenzone from water and indole and pyrrole from fuel) increased monotonously with increasing IPA content applied in MOF synthesis (or -COOH in the MOFs). The favorable contribution of free -COOH to adsorption can be explained by H-bonding, and the direction of H-bonds (adsorbates: H donor; MOFs: H acceptor) was confirmed by the adsorption of oxybenzone in a wide pH range. The versatile applications of the MOFs with -COOH in adsorptions from both polar and nonpolar phases are remarkable considering that hydrophobic and hydrophilic adsorbents are generally required for water and fuel purification, respectively. Finally, the presence of free -COOH in the MOFs was confirmed by liquid-phase adsorptions together with general Fourier transform infrared analyses and decreased chemical and thermal stability.
