Abstract
Phosphide anions PX2- with electron-withdrawing substituents display ambiphilic properties. The use of P(V) thiophosphorane substituents enables the coordination of the resulting bis(thiophosphoranyl)phosphide anion (BTPP = L) to a variety of transition metals from groups 7 to 10. A series of homoleptic and heteroleptic complexes was synthesized and X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that, depending on the metal, L may adopt three coordination modes (κ3-(S, P, S); κ2-(S, S); κ2-(S, P)) supporting three distinct geometries (octahedral; tetrahedral; square planar). Complex L2Co displays Single Molecule Magnet (SMM) properties, and complex LRh(COD) (COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) catalyzes the hydrosilylation of terminal alkynes.

Abstract
In general, the P-centered ring-opening of quaternary phosphirenium salts (QPrS) predominantly leads to hydrophosphorylated products, while the C-centered ring-opening is primarily confined to intramolecular nucleophilic reactions, resulting in the formation of phosphorus-containing cyclization products instead of difunctionalized products generated through intermolecular nucleophilic processes. Here, through the promotion of ring-opening of three-member rings by iodine anions and the quenching of electronegative carbon atoms by iodine cations, we successfully synthesize β-functionalized vinylphosphine oxides by the P-addition of QPrS intermediates generated in situ. Multiple β-iodo-substituted vinylphosphine oxides can be obtained with exceptional regio- and stereo-selectivity by reacting secondary phosphine oxides with unactivated alkynes. In addition, a variety of β-functionalized vinylphosphine oxides converted from C-I bonds, especially the rapid construction of benzo[b]phospholes oxides, demonstrates the significance of this strategy.

Abstract
Two Mo(0) phosphenium complexes containing ancillary secondary phosphine ligands have been investigated with respect to their ability to participate in electrophilic addition at unsaturated substrates and subsequent P-H hydride transfer to "quench" the resulting carbocations. These studies provide stoichiometric "proof of concept" for a proposed new metal-catalyzed electrophilic hydrophosphination mechanism. The more strongly Lewis acidic phosphenium complex, [Mo(CO)4(PR2H)(PR2)]+ (R=Ph, Tolp), cleanly hydrophosphinates 1,1-diphenylethylene, benzophenone, and ethylene, while other substrates react rapidly to give products resulting from competing electrophilic processes. A less Lewis acidic complex, [Mo(CO)3(PR2H)2(PR2)]+, generally reacts more slowly but participates in clean hydrophosphination of a wider range of unsaturated substrates, including styrene, indene, 1-hexene, and cyclohexanone, in addition to 1,1-diphenylethylene, benzophenone, and ethylene. Mechanistic studies are described, including stoichiometric control reactions and computational and kinetic analyses, which probe whether the observed P-H addition actually does occur by the proposed electrophilic mechanism, and whether hydridic P-H transfer in this system is intra- or intermolecular. Preliminary reactivity studies indicate challenges that must be addressed to exploit these promising results in catalysis.

Abstract
The phosphino-phosphenium cation (PPC) [Ph3PPPh2][GaCl4] reacts as a frustrated Lewis pair to add across the NN bond of (tBuO2CN)2. In contrast, photolytical addition [Ph2ClPPPh2][GaCl4] to (RN)2 results in cleavage of the NN bond affording [Ph2P(μ-NR)2PPh2Cl][GaCl4] (R = Ph 2, C6H4Cl3). While the chloride of 2 is replaced with N3 or CN via reaction with Me3SiN3 or tBuNC respectively, reaction with (C6F5)2BH effects ring opening to give [HN(Ph)PPh2(μ-NPh)PPh2][GaCl4] 7. This reactivity demonstrates that PPCs behave as FLPs to effect either addition or cleavage of NN double bonds.

Abstract
The phosphino-phosphonium cations of the form [R3 PPR'2 ]+ are labile and provide access to the constituent Lewis acidic and Lewis basic fragments. This permits frustrated Lewis pair-type addition reactions to alkynes, affording unprecedented phosphino-phosphination reactions and giving cations of the form [cis-R3 PCHC(R'')PR'2 ]+ . This reactivity is further adapted to prepare several examples of a rare class of dissymmetric cis-olefin-linked bidentate phosphines.

Abstract
The newly prepared and fully characterized stibenium and bismuthenium ions [Rind MesE]+ (E=Sb, Bi; Rind =dispiro[fluorene-9,3'-(1',1',7',7'-tetramethyl-s-hydrindacen-4'-yl)-5',9''-fluorene) were rigorously compared to the previously communicated phosphenium and arsenium ions (E=P, As) as well as the bis(m-terphenyl) pnictogenium ions [(2,6-Mes2 C6 H3 )2 E]+ (E=Sb, Bi). It is demonstrated that the choice of the aryl substituents dramatically effects the molecular structures (e. g. the primary E-C bond lengths) and the electronic structures (e. g. the energy of the LUMOs).

Abstract
Rigidly planar polycyclic phosphacycles featuring an internal dioxaphosphorane are promising photofunctional materials. However, the lack of efficient synthetic methods resulted in limited structural diversities which significantly hampered extensive study. Herein, we report a straightforward three-component synthesis of novel dioxaphosphorane-fused diphosphacycles with distinctive photophysical properties. Control experiments and theory calculations were performed to account for a plausible reaction mechanism. We also systematically investigated the structure-property relationships of these unprecedented platforms by combining experiments (X-ray analysis, optical and redox properties) and theoretical computations. Based on their unique structure and properties, a novel fluorescent switch for pH sensing was revealed by a dynamic ring-opening/ring-closing process.

Abstract
Here we developed an efficient Ni-catalyzed C-F bond phosphorylation of aryl fluorides via the crucial intermediates of P-P(O) and P(O)OR. P-P(O) mediated organophosphorus generation is observed for active aryl fluorides, whereas inactive aryl fluorides can also be activated and phosphorylated via a P(O)OR-mediated pathway, which is barely reported yet. Facile scale-up to the gram level and the upgrading of the bioactive molecule make this protocol to have promising applications in synthetic chemistry.

Abstract
Phosphenium ions [R2P]+ are important and highly reactive dicoordinate phosphorus species. Herein, we report a rearrangement of the carbocation into the phosphenium cation driven by ring strain. This phosphorus-involved Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement pathway converted the 1-acylphosphirane complex into phosphetane and 1,2-dihydrophosphete derivatives depending on the reaction temperature. The generation of the intermediate phosphenium cation was identified by the intramolecular reaction with ether, which also disclosed its strong Lewis acidity. This work expands the boundary of the phosphorus-carbon analogy.

Abstract
Herein, we developed a novel strategy for synthesizing ladder (thio)furan-fused phospholes via intermolecular phosphonation cyclization and a base-promoted phospha-Friedel-Crafts reaction under mild conditions. The starting substrates are readily available phosphinic acids and easy-to-handle alkynes. The details of the reaction mechanism were further rationalized using theoretical calculations. This protocol can be widely applied to synthesize furan- and thiofuran-fused phospholes as well as the corresponding large π-extended derivatives, which are of great interest in the domain of organic functional materials.
