Abstract
The constantly growing resistance of bacteria to antibiotics and other antibacterial substances has led us to an era in which alternative antimicrobial therapies are urgently required. One promising approach is to target bacterial pathogens using metal complexes. Therefore, we investigated the possibility of utilizing series of manganese(II) complexes with heteroaromatic ligands: Alcohol, aldehyde, ketone, and carboxylic acid as inhibitors for biofilm formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. To complete the series mentioned above, Mn-dipyCO-NO3 with dipyridin-2-ylmethanone (dipyCO) was isolated, and then structurally (single-crystal X-ray analysis) and physicochemically characterized (FT-IR, TG, CV, magnetic susceptibility). The antibacterial activity of the compounds against representative Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria was also evaluated. It is worth highlighting that the results of the cytotoxicity assays performed (MTT, DHI HoloMonitorM4) indicate high cell viability of the human fibroblast (VH10) in the presence of the Mn(II) complexes. Additionally, the inhibition effect of catalase activity by the complexes was studied. This paper focused on such aspects as studying different types of intermolecular interactions in the crystals of the Mn(II) complexes as well as their possible effect on anti-biofilm activity, the structure-activity relationship of the Mn(II) complexes, and regularity between the electrochemical properties of the Mn(II) complexes and anti-biofilm activity.

Abstract
Copper(II) bis(4,4,4-trifluoro-1-phenylbutane-1,3-dionate) complexes with pyridin-2-one (pyon), 3-hydroxypyridine (hpy) and 3-hydroxypyridin-2-one (hpyon) were prepared and the solid-state structures of (pyridin-2-one-κO)bis(4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxo-1-phenylbutan-1-olato-κ2O,O')copper(II), [Cu(C10H6F3O2)2(C5H5NO)] or [Cu(tfpb-κ2O,O')2(pyon-κO)], (I), bis(pyridin-3-ol-κO)bis(4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxo-1-phenylbutan-1-olato-κ2O,O')copper(II), [Cu(C10H6F3O2)2(C5H5NO)2] or [Cu(tfpb-κ2O,O')2(hpy-κO)2], (II), and bis(3-hydroxypyridin-2-one-κO)bis(4,4,4-trifluoro-3-oxo-1-phenylbutan-1-olato-κ2O,O')copper(II), [Cu(C10H6F3O2)2(C5H5NO2)2] or [Cu(tfpb-κ2O,O')2(hpyon-κO)2], (III), were determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The coordination of the metal centre is square pyramidal and displays a rare example of a mutual cis arrangement of the β-diketonate ligands in (I) and a trans-octahedral arrangement in (II) and (III). Complex (II) presents the first crystallographic evidence of κO-monodentate hpy ligation to the transition metal enabling the pyridine N atom to participate in a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network through O-H...N interactions, forming a graph-set motif R22(7) through a C-H...O interaction. Complex (III) presents the first crystallographic evidence of monodentate coordination of the neutral hpyon ligand to a metal centre and a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network is formed through N-H...O interactions facilitated by C-H...O interactions, forming the graph-set motifs R22(8) and R22(7).

Abstract
Two novel high-nuclear copper-substituted polyoxometalates, Na16[Cu14(OH)4(H2O)16(SiW8O31)4].20.5H2O (1) and K10Na14[Cu10(H2O)2(N3)4(GeW9O34)2(GeW8O31)2].30H2O (2), containing 14 Cu2+ ions and 10 Cu2+ ions, respectively, have been obtained in aqueous solution and characterized by IR, UV, TG, element analysis, electrochemistry, and single-crystal X-ray analyses. The polyoxoanion framework of 1 is composed of four [beta-SiW8O31] units connected by 14 Cu2+ ions to constitute a tetrameric compound. In 2, two [beta-GeW8O31] anions and two [B-alpha-GeW9O34] anions are connected together by a [Cu10(N3)4O32(H2O)2] {Cu10(N3)4} cluster to construct a novel tetrameric compound. The results of the electrocatalytic experiments reveal that the reduced species of 1 and 2 have electrocatalytic activities for nitrate reduction.

Abstract
A novel 16-member metallamacrocyclic octanuclear copper(II) complex of formulation [Cu8L4(OH)4] (1) has been prepared from a reaction of [Cu2L(O2CMe)] and NaOH in methanol, where L is a pentadentate trianionic Schiff base ligand N,N'-(2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diyl)bis(salicylaldimine). The complex has been characterized by analytical, structural, and spectral methods. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with the following unit cell dimensions: a = 30.365(3) A; b = 14.320(2) A; c = 19.019(2) A; beta = 125.33(2) degrees; V = 6746.7(13) A3; Z = 4. A total of 4589 unique data with l > 2 sigma (l) were used to refine the structure to R1(F0) = 0.0525 and wR2 = 0.1156. The structure consists of four binuclear [Cu2L]+ units linked covalently by four hydroxide ligands to form an octanuclear core which is stabilized by strong hydrogen-bonding interactions involving the hydroxide ligands. Each binuclear unit has a pentadentate ligand L showing N2O3 coordination with an endogenous alkoxide bridging atom. The magnetic susceptibility data of 1, obtained in the temperature range 14-306 K, show the presence of antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between adjacent spin-1/2 Cu(II) ions. The mu eff values are 1.54 and 0.26 microB (per copper) at 295 and 15 K, respectively. The magnetic data have been theoretically fitted using a Heisenberg spin-1/2 Hamiltonian with nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic interactions. The spin coupling in the metallamacrocyclic ring has been modeled using four different coupling constants (J) on the basis of the structural parameters of the octanuclear core. The coupling constants obtained are J1 = -318.8, J2 = -293.3, J3 = -111.6, and J4 = -63.8 cm-1. The theoretical modeling of the susceptibility data gives a higher magnitude of the antiferromagnetic interaction within the binuclear [Cu2L]+ unit compared to those involving adjacent dimeric units.
