Coordination Compound (2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium) 2[CuBr 4] as Catalyst for the Curing Process of Epoxy Vinyl Ester Binders. Int J Mol Sci 2023; 24:11808. Abstract
This article presents a study on the synthesis and catalytic properties of copper complex (TPhTz)2[CuBr4] (here TPhTz is 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium). The obtained complex was characterized by various spectroscopic methods. The catalytic properties of the complex were evaluated in the curing of an epoxy vinyl ester system and their effectiveness was compared with that of cobalt octoate (its synonyms are known as Co(Oct)2, cobalt(II) 2-ethylhexanoate, cobalt isocaprylate, etc.). The catalyst was added at an amount of 2 w.%. The results showed that a 8 w.% solution of the complex provides catalytic properties with an activation energy of 54.7 kJ/mol, which is 25.2 kJ/mol higher than a standard curing system with Co(Oct)2. Thus, the solution of (TPhTz)2[CuBr4] in THF/DMSO accelerates the initiator decay process at room temperature, but for a longer time. The authors suggest that the curing mechanism may be accelerated by the appearance of (TPhTz)2[CuIBr3] and free bromine in the system. A strength test of fiberglass-reinforced plastic revealed that the addition of this complex did not lead to a decrease in flexural strength and hardness. Thus, use of the complex allowed for the production of polymer composite products using vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding where an extended injection time was needed.

Abstract
In recent years, organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides have emerged as a highly promising class of semiconducting light emitting diodes (LEDs) due to their fascinating photoluminescence properties. Here, by specifically selecting different organic cations as templates, a series of new hybrid cuprous halides have been solvothermally prepared, namely [Me-Py]CuI2 (1), [(Me)2-DABCO]Cu2I4 (2), [Me-MePy]Cu2I3 (3), and [H2DABCO]Cu3X5 (X = I (4) and Br (5)). These hybrid cuprous halides feature one-dimensional (1D) [CuI2]-, [Cu2I3]- and [Cu3X5]2- (X = Br, I) chains surrounded and charge-balanced by organic cations. Under UV photoexcitation, these hybrid cuprous halides exhibit strong tunable photoluminescence from cyan (480 nm) to red (675 nm) emissions with large Stokes shifts (345 nm). The intrinsic nature of PL emissions is also investigated based on temperature-dependent PL emission, lifetime, photoluminescence quantum efficiencies, etc.

Abstract
A new organic-inorganic hybrid material, 1,4-bis(3-ammoniumpropyl) piperazinium pentachloridocuprate(II) chloride tetrahydrate [(C₁₀H₂₈N₄)CuCl₅Cl⋅4H₂O], has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, UV-visible absorption, Infrared and Raman spectroscopy. The compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic system and Pnma space group with a=8.18 (3)Å, b=10.96 (5)Å, c=21.26 (9)Å, V=2254.3 (15)Å(3). In this structure, the Cu(2+) ion, surrounded by five chlorides, adopts the square pyramidal coordination geometry. The structure of this compound consists of tetraprotonated 1,4-bis(3-ammoniumpropyl) piperazinium cations and the anionic sublattice is built up of isolated, square pyramid [CuCl₅](3)(-) units, chloride ion Cl(-) and water molecules connected with each other by hydrogen bonds. Organic and inorganic entities are interconnected by means of hydrogen bonding contacts [NH⋯O(Cl), O(W)H⋯Cl and O(W)H⋯O]. Furthermore, the room temperature IR and Raman spectra of the title compound were recorded and analyzed on the basis of literature data. The optical study was also investigated by UV-Vis absorption. In fact, the organic-inorganic hybrid crystal thin film can be easily prepared by spin-coating method from the ethanol solution of the (C₁₀H₂₈N₄)CuCl₅Cl⋅4H₂O hybrid compound and it showed absorptions characteristics of CuCl based layered compounds centered at 275 and 374 nm.
