Spin-Canting Magnetization in an Unusual Co4 Cluster-Based Layer Compound from a 2,3-Dihydroxyquinoxaline Ligand

Spectroelectrochemical studies of the redox active tris[4-(triazol-1-yl)phenyl]amine linker and redox state manipulation of Mn(ii)/Cu(ii) coordination frameworks

In situ spectroelectrochemical methods were conducted to investigate the redox active tris(4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phenyl)amine (TTPA) ligand and its incorporation into the solid state of Mn(ii) and Cu(ii) frameworks.

Spontaneous Magnetization in Homometallic μ6-Oxalate Coordination Polymers

The reaction of 1,2,4-triazole and NaF with M(ox) (M = transition-metal dication; ox = oxalate dianion) under hydrothermal conditions has led to the isolation of a variety of hybrid organic-inorganic coordination polymers. Four structurally different 3D networks were obtained, depending on the transition metal, with stoichiometry [M2(H2O)(μ2-ox)][M2(μ3-trz)6] [M = Fe (1), Co (2), Ni (3)], [Zn2(H2O)(μ3-trz)2(μ2-ox)] (4), [Mn3(μ3-trz)2(μ6-ox)(μ3-F)2] (5), and [Fe3(μ3-trz)2(μ6-ox)(μ2-F)2] (6). In all cases, the magnetic behavior is dominated by antiferromagnetic exchange interactions between paramagnetic centers. Remarkably, 5 and 6 present a novel magnetic connectivity around the oxalate anion: a μ6-bridging mode. This magnetic geometry promotes multiple triangular arrangements among antiferromagnetically coupled spin carriers, resulting in a complex magnetic network because of the presence of competing interactions. These materials exhibit spontaneous magnetization below 9 and 66 K, respectively.

Spin-glass behavior of a hierarchically-organized, hybrid microporous material, based on an extended framework of octanuclear iron-oxo units

Inspired by the stepwise addition of octanuclear iron units into mammalian ferritin, a "stop-and-go" synthesis strategy was used to prepare two microporous (Langmuir surface area, 490 m(2) g(-1); effective pore size, 4-5 Å) hierarchical materials {[Fe8(μ4-O)4(μ-pz)12Cl0.3(μ-O)1.85}n () and {[Fe8(μ4-O)4(μ-4-Me-pz)12Cl0.4(μ-O)1.8}n (), which are new members of the EO2 family of polymeric materials (E = C, Si and Ge). The secondary building units (SBUs) E = [Fe8(μ4-O)4(μ-4-R-pz)12] (Fe8) are nanoscale pseudo-spherical clusters, rather than single atoms, forming μ-oxo Fe-O-Fe linkages between Fe8-SBUs. The characteristic Fe-O-Fe asymmetric stretching mode in the infrared (IR) spectra of these compounds appearing at around 800 cm(-1) suggest the formation of approximately linear μ-oxo Fe-O-Fe linkages between Fe8-SBUs in and . We employ the concept of continuous random network (CRN) to describe for the first time the framework features of a Fe8-based amorphous materials, in which the average connecting numbers of each Fe8-cluster are ∼3.7 and ∼3.6 for and , respectively. (57)Fe-Mössbauer spectroscopic analysis provides insights to the intercluster connectivity of and on one hand and to their magnetic properties on the other, evident by a magnetic split sextet below 30 K. The combination of Mössbauer spectroscopy and magnetism measurements reveals a spin-glass behavior with Tg of ∼30 K. The hierarchical porous materials and straddle the gap between metal oxides and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). This study may open an alternative way for the development of multifunctional materials based on high nuclearity metal clusters.

Syntheses, structures, and properties of six cobalt(ii) complexes based on a tripodal tris(4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phenyl)amine ligand

Six new cobalt(ii) metal–organic frameworks based on the tripodal tris(4-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)phenyl)amine (TTPA) ligand with different aromatic carboxylate auxiliary ligands have been synthesized and structurally characterized in detail. All the complexes show optical semiconductive properties.
