Abstract
The tetrapyrazolylpyridyl diborate (B2Pz4Py) ligand provides a suitable platform for the isolation of heterobimetallic main-group element compounds as well as homotetrametallic copper complexes. The heterobimetallic tin(II)-lithium(I) (1) and tin(II)-thallium(I) (2) complexes have been synthesized, isolated, and fully characterized including single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. When reacted with copper(I) sources, complex 2 grants access to a homotetrametallic copper(I) complex (4). Upon subsequent oxidation, 4 gives rise to the bimetallic copper(II) complex 5, in which the two copper(II) centers are connected via a bridging bromido ligand (CuII-μ-Br-CuII).

Abstract
In our previous communication, we have reported the synthesis of a new chlorogermylene (B) featuring a pyridylpyrrolido ligand. This study details the preparation of a series of new germylenes and stannylenes starting from B. A transmetallation reaction between B and SnCl2 led to the analogous chlorostannylene (1) with the simultaneous elimination of GeCl2. This is a very unusual example of transmetallation between two elements of the same group. The preparation of 1via lithiation led to the formation of 2 as a side product, where the ortho C-H bond of the pyridine ring was activated and functionalized with a nBu moiety. Subsequently, B and 1 were used as precursors to generate germylene (4) and stannylene (5) featuring tris(trimethylsilyl)silyl (hypersilyl) moieties. We also prepared tetrafluoropyridyl germylene (6) by reacting 4 with C5F5N with the simultaneous elimination of (Me3Si)3SiF by utilizing the fluoride affinity of the silicon atom. As there is scarcity of Sn(II) compounds as single-site catalysts, we investigated 5 as a catalyst towards the hydroboration of aldehydes, ketones, alkenes and alkynes. All the compounds have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and by state of the art spectroscopic studies.

Abstract
A nacnac-based tridentate ligand containing a picolyl group (L) was employed to isolate chlorogermylene (1). The reaction of 1 with another equivalent of GeCl2·dioxane surprisingly gave pyridylpyrrolide-based chlorogermylene (2) via C-N bond cleavage and C-C coupling, while with AlCl3, it afforded a transmetalated product, 4. The reaction of L with AlH3·NMe2Et led to an unusual cyclohexane type six-membered dialane heterocycle (5).

Abstract
A series of tri-tin complexes (LPhSn)3X with triple-decker structures (LPh = 2,5-di(o-pyridyl)-3,4-diphenylpyrrolate; X = Cl, AlCl4, OTf, and PF6) was synthesized by reducing LPhSnCl with LiBsBu3H and subsequent reactions. Structural characterization of (LPhSn)3Cl revealed a Sn-Sn-Sn core, and DFT calculations suggest that its HOMO is primarily σ-bonding along the tri-tin framework. (LPhSn)3Cl reacts with W(CO)5THF to afford (LPhSn)2(W(CO)5)2 and LPhSnCl, implying that (LPhSn)3Cl may exhibit dynamic behavior in solution.

Abstract
Unsymmetrical pincers have been shown to be better than the corresponding symmetrical pincers in several catalysis reactions. A new unsymmetrical PNN propincer, 2-(3,5-dimethylpyrazolylmethyl)-5-(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyrrole (1), was synthesized from pyrrole through Mannich bases in a good yield. In addition, the new byproduct 2-(3,5-dimethylpyrazolylmethyl)-5-(dimethylaminomethyl)- N-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrole was also isolated. The reaction of 1 with [PdCl2(PhCN)2] and Et3N in toluene yielded [PdCl{C4H2N-2-(CH2Me2pz)-5-(CH2PPh2)-κ3 P,N,N}] (2). The analogous reaction between 1 and [NiCl2(DME)] or NiX2 (X = Br, I) in the presence of NEt3 in acetonitrile afforded [NiX{C4H2N-2-(CH2Me2pz)-5-(CH2PPh2)-κ3 P,N,N}] (3; X = Cl, Br, I). All complexes were structurally characterized. The norbornene polymerization behaviors of the unsymmetrical pincer complexes 2 and 3 in the presence of MMAO or EtAlCl2 were compared with those of the symmetrical pincer complexes chloro[2,5-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazolylmethyl)pyrrolido]palladium(II) (NNN), chloro[2,5-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyrrolido]palladium(II), and chloro[2,5-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)pyrrolido]nickel(II) (PNP) at different temperatures. The PNN and NNN complexes exhibited far greater activity on the order of 107 g of PNB/mol/h, with quantitative yields in some cases, in comparison to the PNP pincer palladium and nickel complexes. This trend was also supported by the iPr group substituted PNP nickel and palladium pincer complexes. These polymerization behaviors are explained using steric crowding around the metal atom with the support of NMR studies and suggested that the activity increases as the Npyrazole donor increases. Polymers were characterized by 1H NMR, IR, TGA, and powder XRD methods.

Abstract
We investigated [{(Me2NCH2)2(C4H2N)}Li]2 (1) by means of experimental charge density calculations based on the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and DFT calculations using energy decomposition analysis (EDA).
Lithium amides are versatile C–H metallation reagents with vast industrial demand because of their high basicity combined with their weak nucleophilicity, and they are applied in kilotons worldwide annually. The nuclearity of lithium amides, however, modifies and steers reactivity, region- and stereo-selectivity and product diversification in organic syntheses. In this regard, it is vital to understand Li–N bonding as it causes the aggregation of lithium amides to form cubes or ladders from the polar Li–N covalent metal amide bond along the ring stacking and laddering principle. Deaggregation, however, is more governed by the Li←N donor bond to form amine adducts. The geometry of the solid state structures already suggests that there is σ- and π-contribution to the covalent bond. To quantify the mutual influence, we investigated [{(Me2NCH2)2(C4H2N)}Li]2 (1) by means of experimental charge density calculations based on the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) and DFT calculations using energy decomposition analysis (EDA). This new approach allows for the grading of electrostatic Li+N–, covalent Li–N and donating Li←N bonding, and provides a way to modify traditional widely-used heuristic concepts such as the –I and +I inductive effects. The electron density ρ(r) and its second derivative, the Laplacian ∇2ρ(r), mirror the various types of bonding. Most remarkably, from the topological descriptors, there is no clear separation of the lithium amide bonds from the lithium amine donor bonds. The computed natural partial charges for lithium are only +0.58, indicating an optimal density supply from the four nitrogen atoms, while the Wiberg bond orders of about 0.14 au suggest very weak bonding. The interaction energy between the two pincer molecules, (C4H2N)22–, with the Li22+ moiety is very strong (ca. –628 kcal mol–1), followed by the bond dissociation energy (–420.9 kcal mol–1). Partitioning the interaction energy into the Pauli (ΔEPauli), dispersion (ΔEdisp), electrostatic (ΔEelstat) and orbital (ΔEorb) terms gives a 71–72% ionic and 25–26% covalent character of the Li–N bond, different to the old dichotomy of 95 to 5%. In this regard, there is much more potential to steer the reactivity with various substituents and donor solvents than has been anticipated so far.

Abstract
Fluorescence spectroscopy investigations of the new acridine derivative bis(N,N-dimethylaminemethylene)acridine (3) show remarkable selectivity and sensitivity towards Zn(2+) and Cd(2+) ions in methanol and for the latter even in water. Through the chelation of the metal ions the present PET effect is quenched, significantly enhancing the emission intensity of the fluorophore. In solution, the bonding situation is studied by fluorescence and NMR spectroscopy, as well as ESI-TOF mass-spectrometry measurements. The solid state environment is investigated by X-ray diffraction and computational calculations. Here, we can show the complexation of the zinc and cadmium ions by the methylene bridged amine receptors as well as by the nitrogen atom of the acridine system.
