The title compound, C₁₄H₁₆N₈O₂²⁺·2ClO₄⁻, was prepared by reaction of bis­[amino­(2-pyrid­yl)methyl­ene]oxalohydrazide with perchloric acid. The mol­ecular symmetry is C_i and thus the asymmetric unit comprises one half-mol­ecule. The dihedral angle between the aromatic ring and the plane of the oxamide group is 70.8 (3)°. The perchlorate anions and the cations are connected by inter­molecular N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
