Abstract
![]()
Herein, the geometric
similitude concept is applied to propose
a cubic equation that relates surface tension, saturation pressure,
and temperature for n-alkanes. The input properties
for each fluid are the molecular mass, pressure, temperature, and
compressibility factor at the critical point. The model is applied
to temperatures below 0.93·Tc (critical
point temperature). A total of 2429 surface tension values have been
selected for 32 n-alkanes. The parameters of the
model have been obtained with a fit of the surface tension values
for 19 pure n-alkanes that are randomly chosen. Then,
it is tested for the other 13 pure n-alkanes and
used to predict the surface tension for 11 binary and 4 ternary mixtures.
These predictions are compared with the reported experimental data.
For pure n-alkanes, the overall absolute average
deviation is 2.4%, including the correlation and testing sets. No
additional adjustable coefficients are used for mixtures, yielding
an overall absolute average deviation of 2.98% for the binary systems
and 7.97% for the ternary ones. The results show that the model is
accurate enough for predictions and that the highest deviations are
due to the lack of agreement in the values of surface tension of pure
fluids obtained from different sources.

Abstract
Internal pressures of a number of binary liquid mixtures of varying natures of component liquids have been predicted using Flory's statistical theory. The predicted values have been compared with the experimentally calculated ones. Good approximation has been observed.

Excess Molar Volumes and Viscosities for the Binary Mixtures of n-Octane, n-Decane, n-Dodecane, and n-Tetradecane with Octan-2-ol at 298.15 K. ACTA ACUST UNITED AC 2013. Abstract
Experimental values of densities (ρ) and viscosities (η) in the binary mixtures of n-octane, n-decane, n-dodecane, and n-tetradecane with octan-2-ol are presented over the whole range of mixture composition at T=298.15 K. From these data, excess molar volume (VmE), deviations in viscosity (Δη), and excess Gibbs free energy of activation ΔG∗E have been calculated. These results were fitted to Redlich-Kister polynomial equations to estimate the binary coefficients and standard errors. Jouyban-Acree model is used to correlate the experimental values of density and viscosity at T=298.15 K. The values of VmE have been analyzed using Prigogine-Flory-Patterson (PFP) theory. The results of the viscosity composition are discussed in the light of various viscosity equations suggested by Grunberg-Nissan, Tamara and Kurata, Hind et al., Katti and Chaudhri, Heric, Heric and Brewer, and McAllister multibody model. The values of Δlnη have also been analyzed using Bloomfield and Dewan model. The experiments on the constituted binaries are analyzed to discuss the nature and strength of intermolecular interactions in these mixtures.

Abstract
The surface tension of a ternary liquid mixture of nitrogen, oxygen, and argon has been calculated by a new approach using critical constants Pc, Vc, and Tc at temperatures ranging from 90 to 110 K and pressure up to 865 kPa. New formalism has been made by modifying the Brock-Bird relation. The computed values are compared with the experimental findings. Satisfactory results have been obtained.

Abstract
A theory of the surface tension of ternary solutions is presented. It assumes different molecular sizes of individual components of the solution and takes into account intermolecular interactions both at the surface and in the bulk. The influence of these interactions on the surface tension behavior including the surface buffering effect and the surface phase transition is discussed. Copyright 1999 Academic Press.
