Abstract
Two syntheses and some reactions of pyrrylthiol esters are described. The value of the thiol ester residue as a protecting group in the synthesis of complex pyrroles and their derivatives is considered. A simplified synthesis of a pyrrole related to the uroporphyrins is reported.
