Abstract
All-perovskite tandem solar cells are attracting considerable interest in photovoltaics research, owing to their potential to surpass the theoretical efficiency limit of single-junction cells, in a cost-effective sustainable manner. Thanks to the bandgap-bowing effect, mixed tin-lead (Sn-Pb) perovskites possess a close to ideal narrow bandgap for constructing tandem cells, matched with wide-bandgap neat lead-based counterparts. The performance of all-perovskite tandems, however, has yet to reach its efficiency potential. One of the main obstacles that need to be overcome is the─oftentimes─low quality of the mixed Sn-Pb perovskite films, largely caused by the facile oxidation of Sn(II) to Sn(IV), as well as the difficult-to-control film crystallization dynamics. Additional detrimental imperfections are introduced in the perovskite thin film, particularly at its vulnerable surfaces, including the top and bottom interfaces as well as the grain boundaries. Due to these issues, the resultant device performance is distinctly far lower than their theoretically achievable maximum efficiency. Robust modifications and improvements to the surfaces of mixed Sn-Pb perovskite films are therefore critical for the advancement of the field. This Review describes the origins of imperfections in thin films and covers efforts made so far toward reaching a better understanding of mixed Sn-Pb perovskites, in particular with respect to surface modifications that improved the efficiency and stability of the narrow bandgap solar cells. In addition, we also outline the important issues of integrating the narrow bandgap subcells for achieving reliable and efficient all-perovskite double- and multi-junction tandems. Future work should focus on the characterization and visualization of the specific surface defects, as well as tracking their evolution under different external stimuli, guiding in turn the processing for efficient and stable single-junction and tandem solar cell devices.

Abstract
Lead halide perovskites are extensively investigated as efficient solution-processable materials for photovoltaic applications. The greatest stability and performance of these compounds are achieved by mixing different ions at all three sites of the APbX3 structure. Despite the extensive use of mixed lead halide perovskites in photovoltaic devices, a detailed and systematic understanding of the mixing-induced effects on the structural and dynamic aspects of these materials is still lacking. The goal of this review is to summarize the current state of knowledge on mixing effects on the structural phase transitions, crystal symmetry, cation and lattice dynamics, and phase diagrams of three- and low-dimensional lead halide perovskites. This review analyzes different mixing recipes and ingredients providing a comprehensive picture of mixing effects and their relation to the attractive properties of these materials.

Abstract
Hybrid halide two dimensional (2D) perovskites have attracted considerable attention because they exhibit an improvement in perovskite solar cells compared with their 3D analogs. However, their bulky organic space group, leading to higher bandgaps and exciton binding energy, limits the charge transport in solar cells. Herein, the 3-(aminomethyl)pyridinium (3API2, C6H10N2I2) dication is incorporated into FA(Pb0.5Sn0.5)I3 to develop zigzag type 2D Dion-Jacobson-phase perovskites, which have low band gaps in the range of 1.44 to 1.53 eV for concentrations from 5 mol% to 20 mol% due to structural distortion. The introduction of the 3API2 cation increases the carrier conductivity and produces a high-quality perovskite film with no pinhole and connected grains, which is favorable for efficient carrier transport. Consequently, solar cells employing FA(Pb0.5Sn0.5)I3 with 10 mol% 3API2 added as a light absorber achieve a power conversion efficiency of 5.46% with an open-circuit voltage of 0.47 V, a fill factor of 58.07% and a short-circuit current density of 20.18 mA cm-2. With this class of new 2D Dion-Jacobson perovskite compositions, this work suggests potential future directions for improving the performance and device stability of perovskite solar cells.

Abstract
With the advance of nanotechnology, the past couple of years have witnessed the fast development of quasi two-dimensional (2D) halide perovskites, which exhibit outstanding long-term stability against moisture and heat, compared with their three-dimensional (3D) counterparts. As one of the most common structures in 2D halide perovskites, quasi-2D Dion-Jacobson (DJ) perovskites show multiple-quantum-well structures with n layers of [BX6]4- octahedral inorganic sheets sandwiched by two layers of diammonium spacers, thus exhibiting superior structural stability due to the elimination of van der Waals gaps. Thanks to the achievement of high power conversion efficiency accompanied by impressive stability, quasi-2D DJ perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have recently drawn extensive attention in the field. This review first introduces the fundamental understanding of quasi-2D DJ halide perovskites, including their superior stability, high exciton binding energy, and compositional flexibility and tunable properties. We then summarize detailed strategies to prepare high-quality quasi-2D DJ perovskites for PSCs, encompassing compositional engineering, solvent engineering, additive addition, and annealing processes. Moreover, the surface/interface modification and 2D-3D hybrid perovskite heterojunction are also discussed, for providing strategies to optimize the fabrication of quasi-2D DJ PSCs. Lastly, current challenges and perspectives toward the future development of quasi-2D DJ perovskites for photovoltaics are outlined.

Abstract
Layered low-dimensional halide perovskites (LDPs) with multiple quantum well structure have shown increasing research interest in photovoltaic solar cell applications owing to their intrinsic moisture stability and favorable photophysical properties in comparison with their three-dimensional (3D) counterparts. The most common LDPs are Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) phases and Dion-Jacobson (DJ) phases, both of which have made significant research advances in efficiency and stability. However, distinct interlayer cations between RP and DJ phase lead to disparate chemical bonds and different perovskite structures, which endow RP and DJ perovskite with distinctive chemical and physical properties. Plenty of reviews have reported the research progress of LDPs but no summary has elaborated from the perspective of the merits and drawbacks of the RP and DJ phases. Herein, in this review, we offer a comprehensive expound on the merits and promises of RP and DJ LDPs from their chemical structure, physicochemical properties, and photovoltaic performance research progress aiming to provide a new insight into the dominance of RP and DJ phases. Then, we reviewed the recent progress on the synthesis and implementation of RP and DJ LDPs thin films and devices, as well as their optoelectronic properties. Finally, we discussed the possible strategies to resolve existing toughs to realize the desired high-performance LDPs solar cells.

Abstract
The alloyed lead/tin (Pb/Sn) halide perovskites have gained significant attention in the development of tandem solar cells and other optoelectronic devices due to their widely tunable absorption edge. To gain a better understanding of the intriguing properties of Pb/Sn perovskites, such as their anomalous bandgap's dependence on stoichiometry, it is important to deepen the understanding of their chemical behavior and local structure. Herein, we investigate a series of two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) and Dion-Jacobson (DJ) phase alloyed Pb/Sn bromide perovskites using butylammonium (BA) and 3-(aminomethyl)pyridinium (3AMPY) as the spacer cations: (BA)2(MA)n-1PbxSnn-xBr3n+1 (n = 1-3) and (3AMPY)(MA)n-1PbxSnn-xBr3n+1 (n = 1-3) through a solution-based approach. Our results show that the ratio and site preference of Pb/Sn atoms are influenced by the layer thickness (n) and spacer cations (A'), as determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Solid-state 1H, 119Sn, and 207Pb NMR spectroscopy analysis shows that the Pb atoms prefer the outer layers in n = 3 members: (BA)2(MA)PbxSnn-xBr10 and (3AMPY)(MA)PbxSnn-xBr10. Layered 2D DJ alloyed Pb/Sn bromide perovskites (3AMPY)(MA)n-1PbxSnn-xBr3n+1 (n = 1-3) demonstrate much narrower optical band gaps, lower energy PL emission peaks, and longer carrier lifetimes compared to those of RP analogs. Density functional theory calculations suggest that Pb-rich alloys (Pb:Sn ∼4:1) for n = 1 compounds are thermodynamically favored over 50:50 (Pb:Sn ∼1:1) compositions. From grazing-incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS), we see that films in the RP phase orient parallel to the substrate, whereas for DJ cases, random orientations are observed relative to the substrate.

Abstract
Because of their better chemical stability and fascinating anisotropic characteristics, Dion-Jacobson (DJ)-layered halide perovskites, which owe crystallographic two-dimensional structures, have fascinated growing attention for solar devices. DJ-layered halide perovskites have special structural and photoelectronic features that allow the van der Waals gap to be eliminated or reduced. DJ-layered halide perovskites have improved photophysical characteristics, resulting in improved photovoltaic performance. Nevertheless, owing to the nature of the solution procedure and the fast crystal development of DJ perovskite thin layers, the precursor compositions and processing circumstances can cause a variety of defects to occur. The application of additives can impact DJ perovskite crystallization and film generation, trap passivation in the bulk and/or at the surface, interface structure, and energetic tuning. This study discusses recent developments in additive engineering for DJ multilayer halide perovskite film production. Several additive-assisted bulk and interface optimization methodologies are summarized. Lastly, an overview of research developments in additive engineering in the production of DJ-layered halide perovskite solar cells is offered.

Abstract
Tin (Sn)-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have attracted extensive attention due to the irlow toxicity and excellent optoelectric properties. Nonetheless, the development of Sn-based PSCs is still hampered by poor film quality due to the fast crystallization and the oxidation from Sn2+ to Sn4+. In this work, we compare and employ three ethylammonium halides, EAX (X = Cl, Br, I) to explore their roles in Sn-based perovskites and solar cells. We find that crystallinity and crystallization orientation of perovskites are optimized with the regulation of EAI. EABr leads to reduced defect density and enhanced crystallinity but also the lowest absorption and the widest band gap owing to the substitution of Br-. Notably, perovskites with EACl exhibit the best crystallinity, lowest defect density, and excellent antioxidant capacity benefiting from the partial substitution of Cl-. Consequently, the EACl-modified device achieves a champion PCE of 12.50% with an improved Voc of 0.79 V. Meanwhile, an unencapsulated EACl device shows excellent shelf stability with negligible efficiency degradation after 5400 h of storage in a N2-filled glovebox, and the encapsulated device retains its initial efficiency after continuous light illumination at the maximum power point for 100 h in air.

Abstract
Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are advancing rapidly and have reached a performance comparable to that of silicon solar cells. Recently, they have been expanding into a variety of applications based on the excellent photoelectric properties of perovskite. Semi-transparent PSCs (ST-PSCs) are one promising application that utilizes the tunable transmittance of perovskite photoactive layers, which can be used in tandem solar cells (TSC) and building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). However, the inverse relationship between light transmittance and efficiency is a challenge in the development of ST-PSCs. To overcome these challenges, numerous studies are underway, including those on band-gap tuning, high-performance charge transport layers and electrodes, and creating island-shaped microstructures. This review provides a general and concise summary of the innovative approaches in ST-PSCs, including advances in the perovskite photoactive layer, transparent electrodes, device structures and their applications in TSC and BIPV. Furthermore, the essential requirements and challenges to be addressed to realize ST-PSCs are discussed, and the prospects of ST-PSCs are presented.

Abstract
Promising alternatives to three-dimensional perovskites, two-dimensional (2D) layered metal halide perovskites have proven their potential in optoelectronic applications due to improved photo- and chemical stability. Nevertheless, photovoltaic devices based on 2D perovskites suffer from poor efficiency owing to unfavorable charge carrier dynamics and energy losses. Focusing on the 2D Dion-Jacobson perovskite phase that is rapidly rising in popularity, we demonstrate that doping of complementary cations into the 3-(aminomethyl)piperidinium perovskite accelerates spontaneous charge separation and slows down charge recombination, both factors improving the photovoltaic performance. Employing ab initio nonadiabatic (NA) molecular dynamics combined with time-dependent density functional theory, we demonstrate that cesium doping broadens the bandgap by 0.4 eV and breaks structural symmetry. Assisted by thermal fluctuations, the symmetry breaking helps to localize electrons and holes in different layers and activates additional vibrational modes. As a result, the charge separation is accelerated. Simultaneously, the charge carrier lifetime grows due to shortened coherence time between the ground and excited states. The established relationships between perovskite composition and charge carrier dynamics provide guidelines toward future material discovery and design of perovskite solar cells.

Abstract
Tin fluoride (SnF2) is an indispensable additive for high-efficiency Pb-Sn perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, the spatial distribution of SnF2 in the perovskite absorber is seldom investigated while essential for a comprehensive understanding of the exact role of the SnF2 additive. Herein, we revealed the spatial distribution of the SnF2 additive and made structure-optoelectronic properties-flexible photovoltaic performance correlation. We observed the chemical transformation of SnF2 to a fluorinated oxy-phase on the Pb-Sn perovskite film surface due to its rapid oxidation. In addition, at the buried perovskite interface, we detected and visualized the accumulation of F- ions. We found that the photoluminescence quantum yield of Pb-Sn perovskite reached the highest value with 10 mol % SnF2 in the precursor solution. When integrating the optimized absorber in flexible devices, we obtained the flexible Pb-Sn perovskite narrow bandgap (1.24 eV) solar cells with an efficiency of 18.5% and demonstrated 23.1% efficient flexible four-terminal all-perovskite tandem cells.

Abstract
The combination of comprehensive surface passivation and effective interface carriers transfer plays a critical role in high-performance perovskite solar cells. A 2D structure is an important approach for surface passivation of perovskite film, however, its large band gap could compromise carrier transfer. Herein, we synthesize a new molecule 2-thiopheneethylamine thiocyanate (TEASCN) for the construction of bilayer quasi-2D structure precisely on a tin-lead mixed perovskite surface. This bilayer structure can passivate the perovskite surface and ensure effective carriers transfer simultaneously. As a result, the open-circuit voltage (Voc ) of the device is increased without sacrificing short-circuit current density (Jsc ), giving rise to a high certified efficiency from a credible third-party certification of narrow band gap perovskite solar cells. Furthermore, theoretical simulation indicates that the inclusion of TEASCN makes the bilayer structure thermodynamically more stable, which provides a strategy to tailor the number of layers of quasi-2D perovskite structures.

Abstract
Perovskite solar cells (PSC) are considered promising next generation photovoltaic devices due to their low cost and high-power conversion efficiency (PCE). The perovskite material in the photovoltaic devices plays the fundamental role for the unique performances of PSC. Formamidinium based perovskite materials have become a hot-topic for research due to their excellent characteristics, such as a lower band gap (1.48 V), broader light absorption, and better thermal stability compared to methylammonium based perovskite materials. There are four phases of perovskite materials, named the cubic α-phase, tetragonal β-phase, orthorhombic γ-phase, and δ-phase (yellow). Many research focus on the transition of α-phase and δ-phase. α-Phase FA-based perovskite is very useful for photovoltaic application. However, the phase stability of α-phase FA-based perovskite materials is quite poor. It transforms into its useless δ-phase at room temperature. This instability will lead the degradation of PCE and the other optoelectronic properties. For the practical application of PSC, it is urgent to understand more about the mechanism of this transformation and boost the stability of α-Phase FA-based perovskite materials. This review describes the strategies developed in the past several years, such as mixed cations, anion exchange, dimensions controlling, and surface engineering. These discussions present a perspective on the stability of α-phase of FA-based perovskite materials and the coming challenges in this field.

Abstract
Thanks to its ultrahigh carrier mobility (∼104-105 cm2 V-1 s-1), graphene shows tremendous application potential in nanoelectronics, but it cannot be applied in effective field-effect transistors (FETs) because of its intrinsic gapless band structure. Thus, introducing a bandgap for graphene is a prerequisite to realize an FET for logic applications. Herein, through first-principles GW calculations, we have predicted a series of novel Dion-Jacobson (DJ) phase halide perovskite semiconductors CsSb(Br1-xIx)4 (x = 0, 0.5, 1) with the quasi-linear (graphene-like) band edge dispersion; as the best one of which, CsSbBr2I2 exhibits a direct bandgap (0.52 eV) as well as a quasi-linear electronic dispersion, yielding an ultrasmall carrier effective mass (0.03 m0) and a high estimated carrier mobility (5 × 103 cm2 V-1 s-1). This gives a significant reference to the exploration of semiconductors with excellent transport properties. Moreover, our calculations also implicate that the DJ perovskites CsSb(Br1-xIx)4 (x = 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1) show soft and anisotropic mechanical characteristics as well as excellent electronic, transport, and optical properties, which demonstrate their multifunctional application in infrared optoelectronic, high-speed electronics, and photovoltaics.

Abstract
Pb-Sn binary halide perovskites are a promising photovoltaic material due to their low toxicity and optical absorption spectrum well matched to the solar spectrum. However, the ready oxidation of Sn2+ to Sn4+ makes the material system currently too unstable to commercialize. Herein, ligand engineering based on antioxidative tyramine (hydrochloride, TACl) is presented for the first time to increase the stability of this material system. Using this strategy, we generate a two-dimensional (2D) capping layer on top of a standard three-dimensional Pb-Sn film. After capping, the surface defects can be passivated and the TACl-based 2D perovskite effectively protected Sn2+ from oxidation, which stabilized the Sn-Pb perovskite composition, avoiding the Pb-based perovskite formation. It is further found that the TACl treatment suppressed the halide segregation and improved the perovskite film photostability. Cell efficiency increases from 16.25 to 18.28% and device lifetime (T80) increases from less than 100 to over 1000 h. Our finding suggests that tuning ligand form/function represents a potentially highly productive direction to explore when trying to produce stable tin-based perovskite devices.

Abstract
Sn-Pb mixed perovskites with bandgaps in the range of 1.1-1.4 eV are ideal candidates for single-junction solar cells to approach the Shockley-Queisser limit. However, the efficiency and stability of Sn-Pb mixed-perovskite solar cells (PSCs) still lag far behind those of Pb-based counterparts due to the easy oxidation of Sn2+ . Here, a reducing agent 4-hydrazinobenzoic acid is introduced as an additive along with SnF2 to suppress the oxidation of Sn2+ . Meanwhile, a vertical Pb/Sn compositional gradient is formed spontaneously after an antisolvent treatment due to different solubility and crystallization kinetics of Sn- and Pb-based perovskites and it can be finely tuned by controlling the antisolvent temperature. Because the band structure of a perovskite is dependent on its composition, graded vertical heterojunctions are constructed in the perovskite films with a compositional gradient, which can enhance photocarrier separation and suppress carrier recombination in the resultant PSCs. Under optimal fabrication conditions, the Sn-Pb mixed PSCs show power conversion efficiency up to 22% along with excellent stability during light soaking.

Abstract
The effects from the molecular configuration of diammonium spacer cations on 2D/3D perovskite properties are still unclear. Here, we investigated systematically the mechanism of molecular configuration-induced regulation of crystallization kinetic and carrier dynamics by employing various diammonium molecules to construct Dion-Jacobson (DJ)-type 2D/3D perovskites to further facilitating the photovoltaic performance. The minimum average Pb-I-Pb angle leads to the smallest octahedral tilting of [PbX6 ]4- lattice in optimal diammonium molecule-incorporated DJ-type 2D/3D perovskite, which enables suitable binding energy and hydrogen-bonding between spacer cations and inorganic [PbX6 ]4- cages, thus contributing to the formation of high-quality perovskite film with vertical crystal orientation, mitigatory lattice distortion and efficient carrier transportation. As a consequence, a dramatically improved device efficiency of 22.68 % is achieved with excellent moisture stability.

Abstract
Layered halide perovskites (LHPs) with crystallographically 2D structures have gained increasing interest for photovoltaic applications due to their superior chemical stability and intriguing anisotropic properties, as compared to their conventional 3D perovskite counterparts. The mostly studied LHPs are Ruddlesden-Popper (RP) phases, which suffer from a carrier-transport bottleneck due to the van der Waals gap associated with their intrinsic organic interlayer structures. To address this issue, Dion-Jacobson (DJ) and alternating-cation-interlayer (ACI) LHPs have rapidly emerged, which exhibit unique structural and (opto)electronic characteristics that may resemble the 3D counterparts owing to the eliminated or reduced van der Waals gap. Improved photophyiscal properties have been achieved in DJ and ACI LHPs, leading towards better photovoltaic performance. Here we provide a comprehensive discussion on the merits and promise of DJ and ACI LHPs from a chemistry perspective. Then, we review recent progress on synthesis and tailoring of DJ and ACI LHP crystals and thin films, as well as their optoelectronic properties and photovoltaic performance. Finally, we discuss future directions to realize the full potential of DJ and ACI LHPs for high-performance solar cells and beyond.

Abstract
Mixed lead-tin (Pb-Sn) halide perovskites with optimum band gaps near 1.3 eV are promising candidates for next-generation solar cells. However, the performance of solar cells fabricated with Pb-Sn perovskites is restricted by the facile oxidation of Sn(ii) to Sn(iv), which induces self-doping. Maltol, a naturally occurring flavor enhancer and strong metal binding agent, was found to effectively suppress Sn(iv) formation and passivate defects in mixed Pb-Sn perovskite films. When used in combination with Sn(iv) scavenging, the maltol surface treatment led to high-quality perovskite films which showed enhanced photoluminescence intensities and charge carrier lifetimes in excess of 7 μs. The scavenging and surface treatments resulted in highly reproducible solar cell devices, with photoconversion efficiencies of up to 21.4% under AM1.5G illumination.

Abstract
2D metal-halide perovskites have attracted intense research interest due to superior long-term stability under ambient environments. Compared to their 3D analog, the alternate arrangement of organic and inorganic layers leads to forming a multilayer quantum well (MQW), which endows 2D perovskites with anisotropic optoelectronic properties. In addition, the spacer layer functions as a hydrophobic barrier to effectively prevent 2D perovskite films from ion migration and moisture penetrating, thus realizing outstanding stability. Recently, 2D perovskites have been widely developed with abundant species. The stunning photovoltaic performance with the coexistence of long-term stability and high-power conversion efficiency (PCE) has been realized in 2D perovskite solar cells (PSCs), which paves an avenue for commercialization of PSCs. This review begins with an introduction of crystal structure and crystallization kinetics to illustrate the unique layer characters in 2D perovskites. Then, electron structure, excitons, dielectric confinement, and intrinsic stability properties are discussed in detail. Next, the photovoltaic performance based on recent Ruddlesden-Popper (RP), Dion-Jacobson (DJ), and alternating cations in the interlayer (ACI) phase 2D-PSCs is comprehensively summarized. Finally, the confronting challenges and strategies toward structural design and optoelectronic studies of 2D perovskites are proposed to offer insight into the advanced underlying properties of this family of materials.

Abstract
Halide perovskites are promising materials for light-emitting and light-harvesting applications. In this context, two-dimensional perovskites such as nanoplatelets or Ruddlesden-Popper and Dion-Jacobson layered structures are important because of their structural flexibility, electronic confinement, and better stability. This review article brings forth an extensive overview of the recent developments of two-dimensional halide perovskites both in the colloidal and non-colloidal forms. We outline the strategy to synthesize and control the shape and discuss different crystalline phases and optoelectronic properties. We review the applications of two-dimensional perovskites in solar cells, light-emitting diodes, lasers, photodetectors, and photocatalysis. Besides, we also emphasize the moisture, thermal, and photostability of these materials in comparison to their three-dimensional analogs.

Abstract
In this article, we used a two-step chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method to synthesize methylammonium lead-tin triiodide perovskite films, MAPb1−xSnxI3, with x varying from 0 to 1. We successfully controlled the concentration of Sn in the perovskite films and used Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS) to quantify the composition of the precursor films for conversion into perovskite films. According to the RBS results, increasing the SnCl2 source amount in the reaction chamber translate into an increase in Sn concentration in the films. The crystal structure and the optical properties of perovskite films were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and UV-Vis spectrometry. All the perovskite films depicted similar XRD patterns corresponding to a tetragonal structure with I4cm space group despite the precursor films having different crystal structures. The increasing concentration of Sn in the perovskite films linearly decreased the unit volume from about 988.4 Å3 for MAPbI3 to about 983.3 Å3 for MAPb0.39Sn0.61I3, which consequently influenced the optical properties of the films manifested by the decrease in energy bandgap (Eg) and an increase in the disorder in the band gap. The SEM micrographs depicted improvements in the grain size (0.3–1 µm) and surface coverage of the perovskite films compared with the precursor films.

Abstract
2D/3D hybrid perovskites have shown great environmental stability for use as solar cells. Yet insulating organic cation spacers affect the formation of vertically oriented crystalline grains to hamper carrier transport. To date, the selection of cation spacers is limited because crystal growth kinetics should be strictly obeyed. Here, we adopted a mobile-media-assisted method to fabricate highly oriented 2D/3D hybrid perovskite films, wherein bulky molecules of (C(CH3)3NH3, TBA) are used as cation spacers. We found the compositional volatile salt promote the orientation of perovskite polycrystalline films with various compositions universally. And we obtained efficient solar cells with a photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of 17.38% and a certified PCE of 19.30% based on 2D/3D hybrid perovskites an overall stoichiometry matching n = 10 and 20, respectively, which are one of the highest efficiencies among all 2D/3D hybrid perovskite based solar cells so far. These findings largely broaden the selection category of bulky cations and promote further exploration of more functional organic cations.

Abstract
Tin-alloyed halide perovskites are progressively becoming more popular as slowly their optoelectronic properties start to rival those of the potentially risky pure lead analogues. However, to push this attractive semiconductor toward realistic applications, several major issues need to be solved. This Perspective will start with a description of the fundamental properties of tin-alloyed halide perovskites, continue discussing their weak points with special attention on the structural and electronic instabilities, and conclude examining the effects of the above-mentioned properties on devices. Finally we propose a plausible roadmap to further boost tin-alloyed halide perovskite devices to practical applications. We believe this roadmap should start from an understanding of this family of semiconductors from an atomistic viewpoint, proceeding to the control of thin-film fabrication, the structural properties, and finally the device optimization. We hope this Perspective can help to inject new enthusiasm and facilitate the progress in tin-alloyed halide perovskites, catalyzing their transition from the cradle of the laboratories to the reality of their fabrication.

Abstract
Lead-free double perovskites have emerged as stable and non-toxic alternatives to Pb-halide perovskites. Herein, the synthesis of Fe-doped Cs2 AgBiCl6 lead-free double perovskites are reported that display blue emission using an antisolvent method. The crystal structure, morphology, optical properties, band structure, and stability of the Fe-doped double perovskites were investigated systematically. Formation of the Fe-doped Cs2 AgBiCl6 double perovskite is confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis. XRD and thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) shows that the Cs2 AgBiCl6 double perovskite has high structural and thermal stability, respectively. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) analysis revealed the formation of dipyramidal shape Cs2 AgBiCl6 crystals. Furthermore, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) mapping shows the overlapping of Cs, Bi, Ag, Fe, and Cl elements and homogenous incorporation of Fe in Cs2 AgBiCl6 double perovskite. The Fe-doped Cs2 AgBiCl6 double perovskite shows a strong absorption at 380 nm. It extends up to 700 nm, suggesting that sub-band gap states transition may originate from the surface defect of the doped perovskite material. The radiative kinetics of the crystals was studied using the time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) technique. Lattice parameters and band gap value of the Fe-doped Cs2 AgBiCl6 double perovskites predicted by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations are confirmed by XRD and UV/Visible spectroscopy analysis. Time-dependent photo-response characteristics of the Fe-doped Cs2 AgBiCl6 double perovskite show fast response and recovery time of charge carriers. We believe that the successful incorporation of Fe in lead-free, environmentally friendly Cs2 AgBiCl6 double perovskite can open a new class of doped double perovskites with significant potential optoelectronics devices fabrication and photocatalytic applications.

Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) halide perovskites have emerged as outstanding semiconducting materials thanks to their superior stability and structural diversity. However, the ever-growing field of optoelectronic device research using 2D perovskites requires systematic understanding of the effects of the spacer on the structure, properties, and device performance. So far, many studies are based on trial-and-error tests of random spacers with limited ability to predict the resulting structure of these synthetic experiments, hindering the discovery of novel 2D materials to be incorporated into high-performance devices. In this review, we provide guidelines on successfully choosing spacers and incorporating them into crystalline materials and optoelectronic devices. We first provide a summary of various synthetic methods to act as a tutorial for groups interested in pursuing synthesis of novel 2D perovskites. Second, we provide our insights on what kind of spacer cations can stabilize 2D perovskites followed by an extensive review of the spacer cations, which have been shown to stabilize 2D perovskites with an emphasis on the effects of the spacer on the structure and optical properties. Next, we provide a similar explanation for the methods used to fabricate films and their desired properties. Like the synthesis section, we will then focus on various spacers that have been used in devices and how they influence the film structure and device performance. With a comprehensive understanding of these effects, a rational selection of novel spacers can be made, accelerating this already exciting field.

Abstract
Recently, halide perovskites have appeared as a superior class of materials for diverse applications, mainly in optoelectronics and photovoltaics. Perovskite halides are broadly classified as hybrid organic-inorganic and all-inorganic analogues depending on the chemical nature of the A cation in the ABX3-type structure. Immense progress has already been achieved in halide perovskites focusing mainly on the hybrid equivalents and all-inorganic three-dimensional (3D) structures, however all-inorganic two-dimensional (2D) layered halide perovskites are relatively new and their nanostructures have gained significant attention in the last few years. In this minireview, we presented a discussion on the recently developed all-inorganic 2D layered halide perovskites highlighting their crystal structure, synthetic methodologies, chemical transformations, and optical properties. We have demonstrated a significant number of examples of Pb-free 2D halide perovskite nanostructures. Strategies for the shape-controlled synthesis of nanostructures and their excitonic properties are discussed in detail. Thermal conductivity and thermoelectric properties are emphasized along with the magnetic properties of layered transition-metal based perovskites. We have also mentioned the recent examples of all-inorganic 2D halide perovskites as photocatalysts for solar-driven CO2 reduction. Finally, we have concluded the article with an outlook for the further progress in 2D all-inorganic halide perovskites toward the structural diversity and prospective new applications.
