Synthesis of 1,4-enynes via nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling of allylic alcohols with alkynylzinc reagents

Synthesis of 1,4-enynes was performed via nickel-catalyzed cross-coupling of allylic alcohols with alkynylzinc reagents. The reaction features high regio- and E/Z-selectivity when aryl-substituted allylic alcohols were employed. The method also exhibits a wide scope of substrates and good compatibility of functional groups.

Chemo- and regioselective reductive deoxygenation of 1-en-4-yn-ols into 1,4-enynes through FeF3 and TfOH co-catalysis

We report chemo- and regioselective direct reductive deoxygenation of 1-en-4-yn-3-ols into 1,4-enynes through FeF₃ and TfOH cooperative catalysis under NBSH-mediated conditions.

Pentacoordinated carboxylate π-allyl nickel complexes as key intermediates for the Ni-catalyzed direct amination of allylic alcohols

Direct amination of allylic alcohols with primary and secondary amines catalyzed by a system made of [Ni(1,5-cyclooctadiene)2 ] and 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene was effectively enhanced by adding nBu4 NOAc and molecular sieves, affording the corresponding allyl amines in high yield with high monoallylation selectivity for primary amines and high regioselectivity for monosubstituted allylic alcohols. Such remarkable additive effects of nBu4 NOAc were elucidated by isolating and characterizing some nickel complexes, manifesting the key role of a charge neutral pentacoordinated η(3) -allyl acetate complex in the present system, in contrast to usual cationic tetracoordinated complexes earlier reported in allylic substitution reactions.

Substitution of Hydroxyl Groups with Alkynyl Moieties Using Alkynylboron Dihalides: An Efficient Approach to Secondary Alkylacetylene Derivatives

The reaction of alkynylboron dihalides with benzylic, allylic, and propargylic alcohols provides an efficient route to internal acetylenes. Isomerization of the product alkynes does not occur under the reaction conditions.

A New Halopropargylation of Alkynes Promoted by Boron Trihalides. Highly Stereo- and Regioselective Syntheses of Substituted (Z)-1-Halo-1,4-enyne Derivatives

[reaction: see text] A new halopropargylation of alkynes promoted by boron trihalides has been developed. Reactions of (Z)-2-halo-1-vinylboron dihalides (generated in situ via reaction of alkynes with boron trihalides) with lithium propargyloxides in CH(2)Cl(2) at room temperature produce the corresponding (Z)-1-halo-1,4-enynes in modest to good yields.

Nickel-catalyzed cyclizations and couplings with vinylzirconium reagents

[reaction: see text] 1,3-Dienes were prepared by a variety of nickel-catalyzed couplings and cyclization processes. Intermolecular or partially intramolecular couplings of alkynes, vinylzirconium reagents, and either aldehydes or enones efficiently proceeded to generate a broad range of functionalized dienes.

Change of the reaction pattern by methodological variations in a multicomponent assembly promoted by Ni complexes

The pi-allylnickel complex formed by the addition of trimethylsilyl chloride (TMSCl) to a mixture of [Ni-(cod)2] (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) and a vinyl ketone (Mackenzie complex) carbometalates an acetylene in a completely regioselective manner resulting in the formation of the corresponding vinyl nickel species. This intermediate is capable of controlled quenching in a variety of ways to give different types of compounds: under a CO atmosphere, an acylnickel species is formed that ensues from the carbometalation of the enol ether double bond to form cyclo-pentenone derivatives. Alternatively, if acetylene is present in excess and CO is absent, another acetylene moiety will replace the CO and cyclohexadienes will result instead. Finally, if only an excess of the vinyl ketone is used, the product from a slow double addition of the vinyl ketone across the triple bond is formed. The regioselectivities obtained by the present method are different from those obtained by the involvement of nickel acyclopentadienes as intermediates when the order of addition is reversed.

Nickel-catalyzed intermolecular domino reactions

Nickel-catalyzed multiple-component reactions are a promising new type of domino reaction. For instance, a variety of starting materials such as alkenes, alkynes, and unsaturated carbonyl compounds can be connected with high selectivity under reasonably mild conditions. These reactions provide a new route to synthetically important key compounds including dienes, enynes, enol silyl ethers, and carbocycles. Furthermore, an asymmetric version of the reaction is successful. Thus, intermolecular domino reactions should be important reactions for years to come.
