Abstract
A spherical liquid-liquid interface can be obtained by dispersing one liquid phase into another to form droplets, which will facilitate the two-phase reactions between the immiscible participating fluids. The phase transfer catalysts assembled at the droplet "wall" catalyze the reactions between the aqueous and organic phases. The study illustrates an interfacial synthetic approach which is ideal for the biphasic reaction by taking advantage of the droplet-based microdevice. The improved reaction efficiency can be attributed to the high surface-to-volume ratio and internal flow circulation in the droplets.

The second part describes the application of these unique reagents, as catalysts and solvents in organic chemistry.

Abstract
The palladium-catalyzed cyclocarbonylation reaction of o-iodoanilines with allenes and CO in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate afforded 3-methylene-2,3-dihydro-1H-quinolin-4-ones in moderate to excellent yields under a low pressure (5 atm) of CO. The ionic liquid, as the solvent and promoter, enhances the efficiency of the cyclocarbonylation reaction. The recyclability of the system of ionic liquid/catalyst/ligand was also demonstrated.

Abstract
An environmentally benign and highly efficient supramolecular Michael addition of thiols from the secondary side of beta-cyclodextrin to alpha,beta-unsaturated compounds at the primary side in water is described in quantitative yields; products of undesirable side reactions resulting from polymerization are not observed; the use of cyclodextrin precludes the use of either acid or base and the catalyst can be recovered and reused.
