Abstract
Evaporation-induced self-assembly method (EISA) was a facile and reliable method to synthesize porous materials. Herein, we report a kind of hierarchical porous ionic liquid covalent organic polymers (HPnDNH2) under cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) assisted by EISA for ReO4-/TcO4- removal. Unlike covalent organic frameworks (COFs), which usually needed to be prepared in a closed environment or with a long reaction time, HPnDNH2 in this study was prepared within 1 h in an open environment. It was worth noting that CTAB not only served as a soft template for forming pore, but also induced ordered structure, which was verified by SEM, TEM, and Gas sorption. Benefit from its hierarchical pore structure, HPnDNH2 exhibited higher adsorption capacity (690.0 mg g-1 for HP1DNH2 and 808.7 mg g-1 for HP1.5DNH2) and faster kinetics for ReO4-/TcO4- than 1DNH2 (without employing CTAB). Additionally, the material used to remove TcO4- from alkaline nuclear waste was seldom reported, because combining features of alkali resistance and high uptake selectivity was not easy to achieve. In this study, in the case of HP1DNH2, it displayed outstanding adsorption efficiency toward aqueous ReO4-/TcO4- in 1 mol L-1 NaOH solution (92%) and simulated Savannah River Site High-level waste (SRS HLW) melter recycle stream (98%), which could be a potentially excellent nuclear waste adsorbing material.

Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a massive viral disease outbreak of international concerns. The present study is mainly intended to identify the bioactive phytocompounds from traditional antiviral herb Houttuynia cordata Thunb. as potential inhibitors for three main replication proteins of SARS-CoV-2, namely Main protease (Mpro), Papain-Like protease (PLpro) and ADP ribose phosphatase (ADRP) which control the replication process. A total of 177 phytocompounds were characterized from H. cordata using GC–MS/LC–MS and they were docked against three SARS-CoV-2 proteins (receptors), namely Mpro, PLpro and ADRP using Epic, LigPrep and Glide module of Schrödinger suite 2020-3. During docking studies, phytocompounds (ligand) 6-Hydroxyondansetron (A104) have demonstrated strong binding affinity toward receptors Mpro (PDB ID 6LU7) and PLpro (PDB ID 7JRN) with G-score of − 7.274 and − 5.672, respectively, while Quercitrin (A166) also showed strong binding affinity toward ADRP (PDB ID 6W02) with G-score -6.788. Molecular Dynamics Simulation (MDS) performed using Desmond module of Schrödinger suite 2020–3 has demonstrated better stability in the ligand–receptor complexes A104-6LU7 and A166-6W02 within 100 ns than the A104-7JRN complex. The ADME-Tox study performed using SwissADMEserver for pharmacokinetics of the selected phytocompounds 6-Hydroxyondansetron (A104) and Quercitrin (A166) demonstrated that 6-Hydroxyondansetron passes all the required drug discovery rules which can potentially inhibit Mpro and PLpro of SARS-CoV-2 without causing toxicity while Quercitrin demonstrated less drug-like properties but also demonstrated as potential inhibitor for ADRP. Present findings confer opportunities for 6-Hydroxyondansetron and Quercitrin to be developed as new therapeutic drug against COVID-19.

Abstract
The surface activity and the process of micellization of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) with methylene blue (MB) in a methanol-water mixed solvent system were investigated by tensiometry and conductometry at 298.15 K. The measurements of surface tension and conductivity of SDS-MB complex were carried up to 0.3 volume fractions of methanol because the resulting complex appeared turbid above 0.3 volume fractions of methanol. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of the SDS was determined from both tensiometry and conductometry. The CMC of SDS increased with the increasing volume fraction of methanol due to the inclusion of methanol in the micelles and decreased in the presence of methylene blue due to the reduction of electrostatic repulsion within the anionic moiety of SDS by the positive charge of the added dye. Abstract
The adsorption of methanol, ethanol and propan-1-ol at the solution-air and solid-solution interfaces, their aggregation in the aqueous media as well as wetting properties regarding their applications as additives or co-surfactants in the surfactants aqueous solution were discussed based on the literature data. Mutual influence of alcohols and surfactants on the solution-air and solid-solution interface tension was considered. For this purpose there were used different methods allowing to describe or predict changes of water surface tension as a function of alcohols concentration. These, in turn, as a function of alcohol and/or surfactant concentration were also analyzed by means of the methods applied for prediction of surface tension of aqueous solution of the classical surfactants mixture. The same considerations related to the behaviour of alcohol and surfactant at the solid-solution and solution-air interfaces were made. To explain the behaviour of alcohols and surfactants mixture at the solution-air and solid-solution interfaces the components and parameters of water, alcohols, surfactants and solids surface tension as well as the Gibbs free energy changes during the adsorption process were taken into account. It was proved that wettability of some solids can be predicted based on alcohol and surfactants adsorption as well as surface tension components and parameters. As follows the mutual influence of alcohol and surfactant on their adsorption at the solution-air and solid-solution interfaces as well as on the wetting properties at the alcohol concentration from zero to its critical aggregation concentration (CAC) is different from that at its concentration higher than CAC.

Abstract
The micellization behavior of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) in water , 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 volume fractions of methanol at 298.15, 308.15, 318.15, and 323.15 K were investigated by surface tension measurements. The effect of methanol on values of critical micelle concentration (cmc), free energies of micellization ΔGmo, and surface properties viz. maximum surface excess concentration Γmax, area occupied by per surfactant molecule Amin, surface pressure πcmc, solution surface tension γcmc, solvent surface tension (γo), free energies of adsorption ΔGadso, the efficiency of adsorption (pC20), effective Gibbs free energy ΔGeffo, and free energy of surface at equilibrium (Gmin) were investigated using surface tension values. Other parameters such as the packing parameter (P), aggregation number (N), concentration of surfactant in the bulk phase (C20), relation between Amin and πcmc, and correlation of slopes dγ/d log C, γo/γcmc, Γ/Γmax, cmc/C20, ΔGadso/ΔGmo, and cmc/pC20 with the volume fraction of methanol are calculated and discussed in the light of the experiment done.

Abstract
The micellar property of mixed surfactant systems, cationic (dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide, DTAB) and anionic (sodium dodecylsulfate, SDS) surfactants with variable molar ratios in aqueous system has been reported by using surface tension and conductivity measurements at T = 293.15, 298.15 and 303.15 K. DTAB concentrations are varied from 1.0 × 10-4 to 3 × 10-4 mol l-1 in 1.0 × 10-2 mol l-1 SDS solution while the SDS concentration is varied from 1.0 × 10-3 to 1.5 × 10-2 mol l-1 in approximately 5.0 × 10-3 mol l-1 DTAB, so that such concentrations of DTAB-SDS (DTAB-rich) and SDS-DTAB (SDS-rich) solutions were chosen 3 : 1 ratio. The critical micellar concentration, as well as surface and thermodynamic properties for DTAB-rich and SDS-rich solutions, were evaluated by the surface tension (γ) and conductivity (κ) methods. The pseudo phase separation model was coupled with the dissociated Margules model for synergism. The Krafft temperature behaviour and optical analysis of mixed surfactants are studied using conductivity and UV-Vis spectroscopy, respectively. The dispersibility and stability of DTAB-rich and SDS-rich solutions with and without dyes (2.5 × 10-5 mol l-1 of methyl orange and methylene blue) are carried out by using UV-Vis spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering.

Abstract
Preferential solvation has significant importance in interpreting the molecular physicochemical properties of wide spectrum of materials in solution. In this work, the solute-solvent interaction of pro-drug Sulfasalazine (SSZ) in neat and binary media was investigated experimentally and computationally. The solute-solvent interactions of interest were spectrophotometrically probed and computationally investigated for providing insights concerning the molecular aspects of SSZ:media interaction. Experimentally, the obtained results in 1,4-dioxane:water binary mixture demonstrated a dramatic non-linear changes in the spectral behavior of SSZ indicative of the dependency of its molecular behaviors on the compositions of the molecular microenvironment in the essence of solute-solvent interaction. Computationally, geometry optimization and simulation of the absorption spectra of SSZ in media of interest were performed employing DFT and TD-DFT methods, respectively, where the solvent effects on the absorption were examined implicitly using IEFPCM method. Obtained results revealed a nonpolar nature of the molecular orbitals that are directly involved in the SSZ:medium interaction. As in good correspondence with the experimental results, these simulations demonstrated that these orbitals are of non-polar nature and hence minimally affected by polarity of the media and in turn favoring the non-polar molecular environments. On the other hand, the molecular origin of SSZ:media interaction was demonstrated explicitly through complexation of SSZ with water molecules revealing a cooperative hydrogen bonding stabilization with an average length of 1.90 Å. The findings of this work demonstrate the significance of the preferential solvation and composition of the molecular microenvironment on the physicochemical properties of molecules of pharmaceutical importance.

Abstract
Physicochemical studies on aqueous mixtures of ionic liquids (ILs) and reverse pluronics are limited. Self-aggregation dynamics and microstructure of a surface-active IL (SAIL), 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium octylsulfate [C4mim] [C8OSO3], in the presence of a reverse pluronic, PO8EO22PO8 (known as 10R5), were studied using isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), high-resolution nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) methods. Also, cryo-/freeze-fracture transmission electron microscopy was employed to determine the microstructures of SAIL/10R5 mixtures. The ITC and NMR results revealed facilitation of SAIL aggregation in the presence of 10R5 forming mixed aggregates as well as free SAIL micelles. 2H spin relaxation rate data pointed out the onset of slow dynamics of the aqueous SAIL/10R5 mixture with an increase in either the former or the latter. Globular morphologies of the mixed species as well as their individual components were corroborated from the measurements. The preferential location of interaction of the SAIL with the 10R5 was identified from 13C NMR chemical shift findings to be in the interfacial region of the assembled SAIL. The formed species were mixed interacted aggregates but not mixed micelles that arise from mixed surfactants. The physicochemical information acquired herein would enrich the literature on the 10R5/SAIL mixed microheterogeneous systems having importance in the making of useful green drug carrier systems and templates for the synthesis of nanomaterials.

Abstract
The detailed aggregation behavior of sodiumdodecyl sulfate (SDS) in tetrahydrofuran (Tf)-water (W) and formamide (Fa)-water (W) media at varied volume percent compositions has been investigated. Surface tension (ST), conductance (Cond), viscosity (Visc), isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and small angle neutron scattering (SANS) were used in this study. The presence of nonaqueous solvents affected the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of SDS, the counter-ion binding of the micelle, the energetics of the air/water interfacial adsorption and micellization of the amphiphiles in the bulk, the ion-association (ion-pair, triple-ion, quadruple, etc. between Na(+) and DS(-) ions) as well as the weakly soluble (aggregation less) amphiphile solution. Tf has been observed to produce a "dead zone" or "non-micelle formation zone" in the mixed Tf-W domain of 10-40 vol%. Fa influenced the SDS aggregation up to 70 vol%, at higher proportions (below the Krafft temperature (K(T))), instead of the micelle, "randomly arranged globular assembly" (RAGA) was formed. The correlation of the standard free energy of micellization (ΔG(m)(0)) with different solvent parameters (1) dielectric constant (ε), (2) viscosity (η0), (3) Reichardt parameter (E(T)(30)), (4) Gordon parameter (G), and (5) Hansen-Hildebrand hydrogen bonding parameter (δ(h)) has been attempted. It has been found that δ(h) produced a master correlation between ΔG(m)(0) and δ(h) for different binary mixtures such as Tf-W, Fa-W, Ml-W and Dn-W.

Abstract
In the present study the interactions between an anionic surfactant sodium laurylethoxysulfate (SLES) and three short chain imidazolium (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium) based ionic liquids (bmim-octyl SO4, bmim-methyl SO4 and bmim-BF4) in aqueous solution have been investigated. Generally when a surfactant is dissolved in a hydrophilic ionic liquid aqueous solution the critical micelle concentration (cmc) obtained is attributed to the surfactant because the ionic liquid (IL) is considered to be only a cosolvent. However, some short hydrophilic ionic liquids posses surface activity in aqueous solution and behave like a surfactant. In that case mixed aggregates between surfactant and ionic liquid can be formed. The three SLES/IL systems here studied have been treated as typical binary surfactant mixtures in aqueous solution. Surface tension measurements have revealed that mixed aggregates and monolayers of surfactant and ionic liquid instead of single surfactant are responsible for the surface active properties of these aqueous solutions. From the Regular Solution Theory, negative interaction parameters (β) for mixed aggregates and monolayers have been found for all SLES/IL mole ratios indicating synergism between the anionic surfactant and the ionic liquids.

Abstract
The performance and solvation characteristics of two novel latex nanoparticle (NP) pseudo-stationary phases (PSPs) for EKC are determined and compared to those of previously reported micellar, polymeric, and NP materials. The new NPs have shells composed of strongly acidic poly(AMPS) as opposed to the poly(acrylic acid) shell of the prior NP, and have varied hydrophobic core chemistry of either poly(butyl acrylate) or poly(ethyl acrylate). The NPs poly(AMPS) shell shows only minor changes in mobility and selectivity between pH 4.9 and 9.4, allowing adjustment of pH to influence and optimize separation performance. All of the NP phases have significantly different solvation characteristics and selectivity relative to SDS micelles. The selectivity and solvent character are similar for NPs with poly(butyl acrylate) cores and different shells, but vary significantly between NPs with poly(butyl acrylate) versus poly(ethyl acrylate) cores. NPs with poly(butyl acrylate) cores are among the least cohesive PSPs reported to date, while the NP with poly(ethyl acrylate) core is among the most cohesive. The results demonstrate that PSPs with unique selectivity can be generated by altering the chemistry of the hydrophobic core.

Abstract
The article represents the results of research in self-organization of new lanthanide systems in water-decanol medium. The systems are based on N,N-dimethyldodecylamine oxide, a zwitterionic surfactant. The study covers the complex formation of lanthanide ions with C12DMAO molecules and the influence of Ln(III) ions and medium composition on surfactant association in diluted solutions. The analysis of adsorption isotherms was carried out on the basis of the combination of Gibbs and Langmuir adsorption equations. The results were used to determine physicochemical properties and parameters of a monomolecular adsorption layer. The research objects were various lanthanide ions with identical coordination centers. A number of spectroscopic methods (UV, NMR self-diffusion, EPR, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and fluorescent analysis) were involved in the research for comparative estimations of molecular dynamics, critical micellization concentration, geometry, sizes, and aggregation numbers of micellar aggregates. Micelle structure simulation revealed good agreement between experimental data and quantum chemical calculations.
