Abstract
Silicon-containing arylacetylene resins with rigid conjugated structures in the main chain often exhibit poor processability. A strategy of improving the processability by destroying the molecular structure symmetry using side aromatic groups was proposed, and the effects of the side groups was further explored. Two novel structural resins with side aromatic phenyl and phenylacetylene groups (PODSA-2P-MM and PODSA-2E-MM) were synthesized by Grignard reaction. The side aromatic groups strongly interfere with the regular arrangement of the main chains, and the crystallinities of the resins decrease as compared with PODSA-MM resin without side aromatic groups. Due to the influence of the side aromatic groups, the novel resins exhibit good processability, low exothermic enthalpy, high modulus and good heat resistance.

Functional Aromatic Poly(1,3,4-Oxadiazole-Ether)s with Benzimidazole Pendants: Synthesis, Thermal and Dielectric Studies. INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARLY RESEARCH NOTICES 2014; 2014:790702. Abstract
Poly(1,3,4-oxadiazole-ether) with reactive carboxylic acid pendants was synthesized from solution polymerization via nucleophilic displacement polycondensation among 2,5-bis(4-fluorophenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole (BFPOx) and 4,4′-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl) valeric acid (BHPA). Without altering the polymeric segments, benzimidazole modified poly(1,3,4-oxadiazole-ether)s were prepared by varying stoichiometric ratios of 1,2-phenylenediamine. The molecular structural characterization of these polymers was achieved by, FT-IR, NMR, TGA, elemental analysis, and analytical techniques. The weight-average molecular weight of virgin polymer with carboxylic acid functionality was determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and was found to be 22400 (Mw/Mn = 2.07). All the synthesized polyethers were compressed into pellets and electrical contacts were established to perform dielectric properties.

Abstract
A series of fluorenylazomethine dyads and triads were prepared by simple condensation between the corresponding amine and aldehyde fluorene derivatives. These compounds were prepared as model compounds for investigating the effects of substitution and electronic groups on both the electrochemical properties and fluorescence quantum yields. It was found that the oxidation potential could be decreased by both incorporating electron donating groups and increasing the degree of conjugation. It was further found that alkylation in the fluorene’s 9-position increased the azomethine degree of conjugation by forcing all the fluorene moieties to be coplanar with the azomethine bonds to which they are attached. Meanwhile, reversible radical cation behaviour was possible by substituting the terminal 2,2′-positions with atoms other than hydrogen. The radical cation was theoretically found to be distributed evenly across the fluorene, corroborating the reversible anodic behaviour with 2,2′-substitution. The fluorescence quantum yields of the azomethines were not found to be dependent on substitution. This was because the azomethine fluorescence was found to be quenched relative to their precursors regardless of substitution. The fluorescence could be restored at both low temperature and by acid protonation.

Abstract
The photoinduced electron-transfer process in Disperse Red 1 end-capped poly[9,9-bis(4-diphenylaminophenyl)-2,7-fluorene], a promising material for electronic and optoelectronic devices, is reported here. The charge-separated configuration was found to be long-lived, with a lifetime of up to 2.2 ms in the polar benzonitrile, as inferred from time-resolved absorption measurements.
