Abstract
We used a novel hybrid catalyst in chemo-, regio-, and diastereoselective multi-component reactions (MCR) for the synthesis of the 2-aza analogue of pyrrolizidine and spirooxindole-2-azapyrrolizidine derivatives. The nanocatalyst, W(iv)/NNBIA–SBA-15 [where NNBIA = N,N′-(ethane-1,2-diyl)bis(2-aminobenzamide)] was synthesized by covalent grafting on chloro-functionalized SBA-15. The synthesis process was followed by the anchoring of WCl6 to catch the desired catalyst. The quality of the catalyst was assessed using different analytical techniques such as X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), N2 adsorption analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), ammonia Temperature Programmed Desorption (TPD), X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and thermogravimetric, differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA). The catalyst, W(iv)/NNBIA–SBA-15, with high catalytic performance is a good candidate for the diastereoselective synthesis of 2-azapyrrolizidine alkaloid scaffolds. The catalyst could be recovered for reuse without noticeable loss of activity. We used a novel hybrid catalyst in chemo-, regio-, and diastereoselective multi-component reactions (MCR).![]()

Abstract
Synthesis of the 2-aza analogues of pyrrolizidine and spirooxindole-2-azapyrrolizidine hybrid, a spiro-tetracyclic scaffold possessing multiple contiguous stereocenters, by an exclusive regio-, chemo-, and diastereoselective multicomponent reaction in water is reported. This logical and didactical tactic has integrated the principles of an ideal organic synthesis, privileged substructure-based diversity-oriented synthesis, and biology-oriented synthesis to access hybrid heterocyclic scaffolds.

Abstract
The review highlights the hydantoin syntheses presented from the point of view of the preparation methods. Novel synthetic routes to various hydantoin structures, the advances brought to the classical methods in the aim of producing more sustainable and environmentally friendly procedures for the preparation of these biomolecules, and a critical comparison of the different synthetic approaches developed in the last twelve years are also described. The review is composed of 95 schemes, 8 figures and 528 references for the last 12 years and includes the description of the hydantoin-based marketed drugs and clinical candidates.

Abstract
The crystal structures of the compounds C15H14N4O2 (1) and C16H16N4O4 (2) are reported and analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. Compounds (1) and (2) crystallized in monoclinic space group P21/c and Cc with four molecules in the unit cell, respectively. The unit cell parameters for compound (1) are a = 11.4501(15) Å, b = 9.7869(11) Å, c = 12.3653(15) Å, β = 90.997(11)°, and Volume = 1385.5(3) Å3 and for compound (2) are a = 13.865(2) Å, b = 6.9538(8) Å, c = 16.841(2) Å, β = 98.602(11)°, and Volume = 1605.4(4) Å3. In both compounds (1) and (2), the pyrrolidine ring adopts half-chair conformation. Moreover, both inter- and intramolecular N–H⋯O hydrogen bonds stabilize the crystal structure and play a crucial role in crystal packing. This intermolecular interaction alone constructs C11 chain motif in both compounds. It is also supported by weak intermolecular π-π interaction which is essential for the stability of the crystal packing. Further, the Density Functional Theory (B3LYP) method with standard 6-31G basis set was used in the calculation and calculated geometrical parameter is correlated with the corresponding experimental data. The obtained HOMO and LUMO energies are in negative values indicating that the compounds are in stable state.
