Abstract
Chiral aminonitriles not only are broadly useful building blocks but also increasingly appear as structural motifs in bioactive molecules and pharmaceuticals. The catalytic asymmetric synthesis of chiral aminonitriles, therefore, has been intensively investigated, as reflected in numerous reports of catalytic asymmetric Strecker reactions. Despite such great progress, the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of chiral α,α-dialkyl aminonitriles in a highly selective and efficient manner is still a formidable challenge. Here, we report a new approach for the catalytic asymmetric synthesis of chiral α,α-dialkyl aminonitriles via reaction of cyanoketimines with enals. We demonstrate that this reaction could be carried out with as low as 20 ppm catalyst loading.

Abstract
An unprecedented Csp3-H imination reaction using arylazo sulfones as the readily accessible and stable N source is reported. The synthetic virtues are demonstrated through mild conditions, simple operation, good air compatibility, and functional group tolerance, as well as suitability for gram-scale reaction. The resulting imines can be further converted to α-amino acids. The presented results shed light on an unusual usage of arylazo sulfones and will inspire novel experimental design by using arylazo sulfones as the N source.

Abstract
We describe herein a Cu(OTf)2 catalyzed oxidative arylation of a tertiary carbon-containing substrate including aryl malononitriles, 3-aryl benzofuran-2-ones, and 3-aryl oxindoles. In some cases, the nitrile groups of the aryl malononitriles undergo further reactions leading to lactones or imines. These reaction conditions are applicable for a range of arenes, including phenols, anilines, anisoles, and heteroarenes. Mechanistic studies support the formation of a cationic intermediate via a two-electron oxidation.

Abstract
During the last two decades, tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) has gained significant attention as an efficient metal-free homogeneous phase-transfer catalyst. A catalytic amount of TBAB is sufficient to catalyze various alkylation, oxidation, reduction, and esterification processes. It is also employed as an efficient co-catalyst for numerous coupling reactions. It has also acted as an efficient zwitterionic solvent in many organic transformations under molten conditions. In this review, we have summarized the recent developments on TBAB-catalyzed protocols for the efficient synthesis of various biologically promising heterocyclic scaffolds.

Abstract
ntroduction: An instrumental strategy for α-iminonitrile derivatives preparation by Fe3O4@cellulose-OSO3H (MCSA) as an eco-friendly nanocatalyst and oxidative agent in aerobic condition, is presented. MATERIALS AND METHODS Through this method, a one-pot three-component condensation reaction of various aldehydes, primary amines and trimethylsilylcyanide (TMSCN) were applied to synthesize the desired products. It was performed in absolute ethanol and under a mild condition by using the presented nanocatalyst. High reaction yields were obtained through using the presented magnetic agent, as well. Moreover, the threecomponent reactions were executed using accessible and economical precursors. The convenient separation and recyclability of the used nanocatalyst were also precisely investigated. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION In this research, we identified novel α-iminonitrile derivatives using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, CHN, and FT-IR analyses, as well. In order to determine the well-known derivatives, we used FT-IR method as well as comparing their melting points with those of reported. CONCLUSION In summary, an extremely efficient method was used for the environmentally-friendly synthesis of α-iminonitrile derivatives that are important bioactive substances. The catalytic oxidative coupling reaction afforded the products via a one-pot three-component condensation reaction of various aldehydes, primary amines and TMSCN with great reaction yields, in ethanol under mild conditions.

Abstract
Heterocycles are prevalent constituents of many marketing drugs and biologically active molecules to meet modern medical challenges. Isocyanide insertion into C(sp3)–H bonds is challenging especially for the construction of quaternary carbon centers. Herein, we describe an efficient strategy for the synthesis of α-iminonitrile substituted isochromans and tetrahydroisoquinolines (THIQs) with quaternary carbon centers through silver-triflate-mediated sequential isocyanide insertion of C(sp3)–H bonds, where isocyanide acts as the crucial “CN” and “imine” sources. The produced α-iminonitriles have extensive applications as valuable synthetic building blocks for pharmacologically interesting heterocycles. This protocol could be further applied for the synthesis of iminonitrile-decorated phenanthridines and azapyrene. Interestingly, a remarkable aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect was first observed for an iminonitrile-decorated pyrene derivative, which may open a particular area for iminonitrile applications in materials science. Iminonitrile formation via sequential C(sp3)-H bond isocyanide insertion Construction of quaternary center Isocyanide as both "imine" and "CN" sources Valuable synthetic building blocks and novel AIEgen

The merits of this transformation include cyanide-free protocol, short reaction time, simple operation, water as the only byproduct, commercially available reagents, good functional group tolerance, etc. Moreover, nitroalkenes are demonstrated as a new "CN" source in this transformation.

Abstract
Rh(III) catalysts have played increasingly important roles in the activation of C-H bonds to build heterocyclic scaffolds. However, there are few reports on the more challenging synthesis of pharmaceutically important 2 H-isoindoles and fused 2 H-isoindoles. The process reported herein is an effective strategy to produce 2 H-isoindole or fused 2 H-isoindole derivatives via a Rh(III)-catalyzed transformation of α-iminonitriles or α-imino esters with acrylates.

Abstract
Phenanthroindolizidines and phenanthroquinolizidines were concisely synthesized by the reductive decyanization of cyano-promoted intramolecular aza-Diels-Alder cycloadducts followed by aryl-aryl coupling. Cyano groups were removed from α-aminoacrylonitriles via treatment with sodium borohydride in 2-propanol in almost quantitative yields; a possible mechanism was proposed and examined using D-labeling experiments. A systematic study of the effects of the phenanthrene substitution pattern on the anticancer activity against three human cancer cell lines was discussed.

Abstract
The preparation, structure, and chemistry of hypervalent iodine compounds are reviewed with emphasis on their synthetic application. Compounds of iodine possess reactivity similar to that of transition metals, but have the advantage of environmental sustainability and efficient utilization of natural resources. These compounds are widely used in organic synthesis as selective oxidants and environmentally friendly reagents. Synthetic uses of hypervalent iodine reagents in halogenation reactions, various oxidations, rearrangements, aminations, C-C bond-forming reactions, and transition metal-catalyzed reactions are summarized and discussed. Recent discovery of hypervalent catalytic systems and recyclable reagents, and the development of new enantioselective reactions using chiral hypervalent iodine compounds represent a particularly important achievement in the field of hypervalent iodine chemistry. One of the goals of this Review is to attract the attention of the scientific community as to the benefits of using hypervalent iodine compounds as an environmentally sustainable alternative to heavy metals.

Abstract
Reported here is a palladium catalyzed intramolecular acylcyanation of alkenes using α-iminonitriles. Through this method, highly functionalized indanones are synthesized in moderate to high yields using Pd(PPh3)4, without need for any additional ligands, and a common Lewis acid (ZnCl2). Additionally, the reaction tolerates substitution at various positions on the aromatic ring including electron donating and electron withdrawing groups.
