Abstract
The air- and water-stable perfluorinated Cp* [C5(CF3)5]- is presented as a candidate for the vastly underexplored group of weakly coordinating carbanions (WCCAs). Its extreme electron deficiency, combined with the stabilization of the negative charge within an aromatic system, results in a low basicity, yielding a very weak coordination ability. As Cp anions usually possess a strongly pronounced carbanionic character, the perfluorinated Cp* resembles an extraordinary exception for both the WCA and Cp chemistry. However, the coordination ability remains ambivalent due to the substitution lability of many of its complexes, allowing for the formation of unique ligand-WCA switches. Due to the low reactivity, there is a need for new transfer reagents containing the perfluorinated Cp* in combination with reactive cations. Thus, we report the synthesis and complete characterization of [C5(CF3)5]- salts with hydride-accepting [(C6H5)3C]+, valuable Ag(I) reagents, oxidizing [Fe(C5H5)2]+ or [N(p-C6H4Br)3]+ and Brønsted acidic [H(m,m-NC5H3F2)2]+. Notably, these unprecedented ion pairs are exclusively accessible and stabilized by the low coordination affinity and pronounced oxidative resistance of the perfluorinated Cp*.

Abstract
While hundreds of complexes of the general formula [Ni(η5-C5H5)(NHC)(X)] exist (NHC = a N-heterocyclic carbene, X = Cl, Br, I), none is yet known with X = F. We attempted to prepare such a species by reacting nickelocene with imidazolium fluorides. Three imidazolium fluorides (ImH)+ F- [Im = (N,N'-bis-(R)-imidazolium: 1a, IMe, R = Me; 1b, IMes, R = 2,4,6-trimethylphenyl; 1c, IPr, R = 2,6-diisopropylphenyl)] were prepared and characterized by spectroscopic methods. In addition, the salts 1b [(IMesH)+ F-] and 1c [(IPrH)+ F-] were subjected single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments. The reactions of these imidazolium fluorides with nickelocene did not lead to [Ni(η5-C5H5)(NHC)(F)] species. Instead, the reaction of 1a [(IMeH)+ F-] and 1b [(IMesH)+ F-] with nickelocene led to the salt 2 [Ni(η5-C5H5)(IMe)2]+ F- and to the square planar complex 3atrans-[NiF2(IMes)2] respectively. Both complexes were characterized spectroscopically and by single crystal X-ray diffraction. All four X-ray diffraction studies reveal hydrogen bonding and hydrogen interactions with the F atom or anion, and in some cases with solvent molecules of crystallization, and these phenomena are all discussed. Complex 2, in particular, exhibited a wide range of interesting H-bonded interactions in the solid state. Complexes 2 and 3a were tested as catalysts for Suzuki-Miyaura coupling but were not promising: complex 2 was inactive, and while 3a did indeed catalyze the reaction, it gave widely diverging results owing to its instability in solution.

Abstract
The Pd(II) complexes [Pd(Cp)(L)n]m[BF4]m were synthesized via the reaction of cationic acetylacetonate complexes with cyclopentadiene in the presence of BF3∙OEt2 (n = 2, m = 1: L = PPh3 (1), P(p-Tol)3, tris(ortho-methoxyphenyl)phosphine (TOMPP), tri-2-furylphosphine, tri-2-thienylphosphine; n = 1, m = 1: L = dppf, dppp (2), dppb (3), 1,5-bis(diphenylphosphino)pentane; n = 1, m = 2 or 3: 1,6-bis(diphenylphosphino)hexane). Complexes 1-3 were characterized using X-ray diffractometry. The inspection of the crystal structures of the complexes enabled the recognition of (Cp-)⋯(Ph-group) and (Cp-)⋯(CH2-group) interactions, which are of C-H…π nature. The presence of these interactions was confirmed theoretically via DFT calculations using QTAIM analysis. The intermolecular interactions in the X-ray structures are non-covalent in origin with an estimated energy of 0.3-1.6 kcal/mol. The cationic palladium catalyst precursors with monophosphines were found to be active catalysts for the telomerization of 1,3-butadiene with methanol (TON up to 2.4∙104 mol 1,3-butadiene per mol Pd with chemoselectivity of 82%). Complex [Pd(Cp)(TOMPP)2]BF4 was found to be an efficient catalyst for the polymerization of phenylacetylene (PA) (catalyst activities up to 8.9 × 103 gPA·(molPd·h)-1 were observed).

Cationic palladium(II)-indenyl complexes bearing phosphines as ancillary ligands: synthesis, and study of indenyl amination and anticancer activity. Dalton Trans 2022; 51:11135-11151. Abstract
The reactivity of palladium(II) indenyl derivatives and their applications are topics relatively less studied, though in recent times these compounds have been used as pre-catalysts able to promote challenging cross-coupling processes. Herein, we propose the first systematic study concerning the nucleophilic attack on the palladium(II) coordinated indenyl fragment and, for this purpose, we have prepared a library of new Pd-indenyl complexes bearing mono- or bidentate phosphines as spectator ligands, developing specific synthetic strategies. All novel compounds are thoroughly characterized, highlighting that the indenyl ligand presents always a hapticity intermediate between η3 and η5. Secondary amines have been chosen as nucleophiles for the present study and indenyl amination has been monitored by UV-Vis and NMR spectroscopies, deriving a second order rate law, with dependence on both complex and amine concentrations. The rate-determining step of the process is the initial attack of the amine to the coordinated indenyl fragment, and this conclusion has been supported also by DFT calculations. The determination of second order rate constants has allowed us to assess the impact of the phosphine ligands on the kinetics of the process and identify the steric and electronic descriptors most suitable for predicting the reactivity of these systems. Finally, in vitro tests have proven that these organometallic compounds promote antiproliferative activity towards ovarian cancer cells better than cisplatin and possibly by adopting a different mechanism of action.

Abstract
Ni‐catalyzed C−S cross‐coupling reactions have received less attention compared with other C‐heteroatom couplings. Most reported examples comprise the thioetherification of most reactive aryl iodides with aromatic thiols. The use of C−O electrophiles in this context is almost uncharted. Here, we describe that preformed Ni(II) precatalysts of the type NiCl(allyl)(PMe2Ar’) (Ar’=terphenyl group) efficiently couple a wide range of (hetero)aryl halides, including challenging aryl chlorides, with a variety of aromatic and aliphatic thiols. Aryl and alkenyl tosylates are also well tolerated, demonstrating, for the first time, to be competent electrophilic partners in Ni‐catalyzed C−S bond formation. The chemoselective functionalization of the C−I bond in the presence of a C−Cl bond allows for designing site‐selective tandem C−S/C−N couplings. The formation of the two C‐heteroatom bonds takes place in a single operation and represents a rare example of dual electrophile/nucleophile chemoselective process.

Comparison of the catalytic activity for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction of (η(5)-Cp)Pd(IPr)Cl with (η(3)-cinnamyl)Pd(IPr)(Cl) and (η(3)-1-t-Bu-indenyl)Pd(IPr)(Cl). Beilstein J Org Chem 2015; 11:2476-86. Abstract
Complexes of the type (η(3)-allyl)Pd(L)(Cl) and (η(3)-indenyl)Pd(L)(Cl) are highly active precatalysts for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction. Even though allyl and indenyl ligands are similar to cyclopentadienyl (Cp) ligands, there have been no detailed comparative studies exploring the activity of precatalysts of the type (η(5)-Cp)Pd(L)(Cl) for Suzuki-Miyaura reactions. Here, we compare the catalytic activity of (η(5)-Cp)Pd(IPr)(Cl) (IPr = 1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-1,3-dihydro-2H-imidazol-2-ylidene, Cp) with two commercially available catalysts (η(3)-cinnamyl)Pd(IPr)(Cl) (Cin) and (η(3)-1-t-Bu-indenyl)Pd(IPr)(Cl) ( (tBu) Ind). We show that Cp gives slightly better catalytic activity than Cin, but significantly inferior activity than (tBu) Ind. This order of activity is rationalized by comparing the rates at which the precatalysts are activated to the monoligated Pd(0) active species along with the tendency of the starting precatalysts to comproportionate with monoligated Pd(0) to form inactive Pd(I) dimers. As part of this work the Cp supported Pd(I) dimer (μ-Cp)(μ-Cl)Pd2(IPr)2 (Cp (Dim) ) was synthesized and crystallographically characterized. It does not readily disproportionate to form monoligated Pd(0) and consequently Cp (Dim) is a poor catalyst for the Suzuki-Miyaura reaction.
